Any ideas if all the models will have sandy bridge, or just 15 and 17 inchers?
The general feeling seems to be that it's all Sandy Bridge, but we can never be sure.

Cool, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this new MacBook is like. Besides the new processor, I am interested to see if they can possibly improve on what is already a nearly perfect body that the current Unibody MacBooks (pros) have. Seriously they are the best laptops I've ever used.

There wont be a re-design imo :(

They will look the same as the current ones just with better spec.

Unless there is an announcement/conference to show of these new designs there wont be a re-design.

When was the last time that Apple released a new project and new design without presentation conference?

Is there one planned for Thursday, or rumours of one?

I really hope cause I have enough for a 13 inch now, and I don't want to wait to save up for a 15.

So if you ordered a MacBook Pro from the online store now, you'd get the mid-2010 model about 3-5 days later? Shouldn't they make it Unavailable if the were completely dry?

You probably get the old model when they pull in the overstock from the brick and mortar shops. They can't ship your a different product than you ordered.

In the past they have given customers the choice either with a phone call or an email. I know that happened with a recent Mac Pro refresh we were offered the chance of keeping the older model we had ordered, or getting our order updated with the newer one.

Almost Guaranteed

  • Processor bumps across the board
  • Thinner and lighter, perhaps as a result of a switch to 7mm height hard disk and 7mm height DVD drive (or optional DVD drive)
  • Bump in screen resolution on the MacBook Pro 13 to match the MacBook Air 13
  • Support for SDXC cards
  • Bump in iSight camera resolution to match the iPod touch

Might Happen

  • Ethernet port gets moved to the power brick, so the MagSafe connector provides both power and the final link in the ethernet connection
  • LightPeak added, probably as FireWire replacement

Sounds good to me. I'll take one.

Just out of curiosity why do iPods, iPhones and the iPad, have leaked images months in advance, while new MacBooks and iMacs, get nothing until release day?

Does Steve get a sample of all the production/near production items for his birthday or do they get him a black turtleneck? Wonder if Steve says "If I get one more iPod for my birthday, somebody is fired."

I'd pull the trigger on a 13" MBP providing it has:

New design
Sandy Bridge i5 CPU
SSD
Backlit keyboard
USB 3.0 (most important)

If not, then I'll just keep my 2010 MBA.

when i saw the words delayed i was like nooo but now i realize nothing changed xD okay so when will they announce it macrumors? i want color ads and specs on the homepage

Random thought

Does anybodyvthink that maybe apple is preparing us for a big announcement and maybe didn't announce a big event because steve may not be around much longer.

It could be a sleeper that the media latches onto

My guess is that they'll be available, hence the black packages shipped out, just a guess mind. The girl in the apple shop seemed to think they'd be available the same day in the UK (Newcastle) as the US, so who knows?

By the way, the girl in the shop was speaking hypothetically...:D

Ya, but was she hot?

wait so they wont be putting aaaanything up on the website until the actual release day?

Every time they refresh the MacBook Pro line, I think about upgrading, but the truth is, my 2008 aluminum MacBook is still the best machine I've ever had and works perfectly. Apple made a machine so good that I no longer feel the need to upgrade as I once did with PCs.

Many people are expecting a lot this update and will consequently be disappointed. It's like this every refresh cycle.

Nada. Zero. Nolla. Nothing. 0. Welcome to Apple.

The plastic MacBook was updated a month after MBP, so I would still wait if you want one.

aw mannn i thought that SOMETHING would be leaked by Tuesday..idk i feel like some retailer somewhere will open the sealed contents..
