Uhm... isn't this exactly what ALL computers do? Is Mr. Ive not familiar with the concept of programming and why a computer is fundamentally different to a fixed device?
I like the idea that Ive only uses devices for the hardware. He has no use for the software and is only just hearing about its mutative properties now.

The Numbering is not going to stop for the iPhone. The numbering for the iPhone is crucial, its a reminder there is an annual cadence of iPhone releases. When Apple sells new phones, they have to have a way of showing the other iPhones aging in the line up.

They have manouvered themselves into a dead end with this year‘s numbering. How are they going to continue after 8 and 10? 9 and 11? And the year after that?

Then they could give them code names like Mac OS X. Maybe they could work through the seven deadly sins to start. iPhone X - Lust, Envy, Pride, Greed, Gluttony, Wrath, and finally Sloth as it makes its way into the seventh year without a redesign.

Spat my drink out as I finished that last sentence.

That cover right there shows how he is completely depleted and not a designer anymore, he is a freaking manager pretending to be a designer. He is the major hold back and constrain on young and upcoming designers working in Apple.

Jony boy, my X is laggy all around and it's not a me thing, it's a stupid apple-don't-care-anymore thing. Please don't insult us with a ****** software on a pretty nice hardware. ios11 on the X is beta at best. Fact that you got a big market does does not care does not mean Apple should sell away the company to the ****** market.

Either you're on Samsung's payroll or something is seriously wrong with your particular device.

My X is the buttery-smoothest, fastest device I've ever used. Not even a hint of stutter.

Well Ive always gets the latest iPhone for free with all the software Apple feels you need preloeded. I suppose it's possible he doesn't know about OS updates and software that doesn't come preloaded?

So are you predicting that most iPhone X users are having a similar experience to yours? I think you are actually the first person that I have heard who feels the way you do. Out of millions of phone users, there will certainly be a small number who don't like any feature.

This is true: lying in bed face ID FAILS. So stupidly, you pretty much have to sit up to get the damn thing to work. (Nilay Patel mentioned it in his Engadget review as well.) It really does need work, as it often does not work / requires various angles and is SLOW. Touch ID was less stressful as it worked nearly 100% of the time, as long as you were not just getting out of the shower ;-)

"Get design out of the way" says the notch as it juts into your photos and videos.
I agree with you. Though, to be fair, look at everything else they removed, and only kept the notch. Not bad, I’d say.

Not bad? They created something that is the opposite of "blending in".... it sticks out and is "iconic" as so many are telling me. Which means Jony Ive is full of crap with this stuff. If you want iconic, you nailed it. If you want "blending in" to the background, you failed miserably. Watch a movie in landscape and there is no way you don't notice the notch more than any other smarthphone made.

I think they worked within the bounds of their tech, and I’m curious to see how this will develop.

This won't stop the Notch haters on Macrumors about complaining about It. Even though it's not the most aesthetically pleasing, the technology behind it is incredible. And it has a lot of potential in the future and how it will expand from here.
What about the notch hater haters? Don’t they get any airtime?

Do you think current iPhone X users will be upset if the iPhone Xs is released without a cut out at the top? Apple (we've managed to make it totally full screen and implement Face ID in the very corners of the iPhone Xs, could this be the change and evolve?

I already imagine iPhone XI presentation: we managed to make the Notch 0,2mm smaller compared to the X model.

If you are in the notch haters wagon, there my be a shocking surprise for you.I think Apple are not in a hurry whatsoever to remove it,make it thinner, or hide it. Is just gonna be there for years like Home button did and you just gonna have to live with it or choose to buy another kind of device.
