I had the gray ceramic series 3. It was beautiful, but within a couple of months a big chunk of the ceramic cracked off near the crown. If it hadn't been for a friend who was a manager at the Apple Store they would have made me pay $800 for a non-warranty replacement.

I bought the series 2 ceramic and loved that watch but it’s performance was seriously woeful. It still gets used as my overnight heart rate monitor though. I got a series 4 stainless because of the ecg (which never gets used) and they didn’t have the ceramic. There was literally nothing better about the series 5 over 4 so I couldn’t justify buying a ceramic and now again no ceramic. Hopefully the OS update doesn’t make my 4 slow and I will be using it for another year. Hopefully next year they bring back the ceramic.

I always wanted one, but it was never available in my country, so I never got it :D.

I can't find any mention of the material of the crystal for Apple Watch S6 anywhere on Apple's website or when ordering. Can't even find any mention of "Ion-X glass" for the aluminum models.

I cannot find any reference to the glass at all anymore, neither sapphire nor ion-x ... it could be an oversight, or every S6 is either sapphire or ion-x ... better find out soon
Well, that's more promising, it sounds like an oversight.
There is no way to justify the difference in price between SS and Al without that Sapphire glass. It is above all else the feature people buy SS for.

I guess I better hold onto mine. Hard to justify upgrading to a Series 6 when I currently have the Ceramic Series 5. I've never seen anyone else with one.
Yep I have the ceramic S5. No reason for me to upgrade this year. The stainless steel grey looks nice but f that scratches, i don't think it can be polished out.

I don’t want to jump the gun but if they have removed Sapphire then I may not get another Apple Watch. I’ve had too much trouble with “Apple’s toughest glass yet” on my iPhone X and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

These higher-end models never made a lot of sense, given the device itself has such significant performance upgrades every year.
Who needs more performance? If they increased battery life instead everybody would be much happier. This year release is even worse than the last one. The only new feature is the Pulse Ox.

Ceramic was gorgeous but I could never justify the $$ cost knowing that it will no longer receive OS updates in 3-4 years. Especially when Apple makes so many other finishes for substiantially less money.

Either silent upgrade to aluminium Apple Watch model (notice they’ve removed the Sport moniker or was that done last year for S5?) across the range or it’s a silent downgrade for the SS model, removing a big differentiator. Place your bets which it is!

I think I spent the last hour trying to see if the Stainless Steel still has a sapphire glass... no info at all 😭

Guess we'll see when people start receiving their order! It'd be a shame. Guess I'll have to find a refurbished SS series 5 😕
