The cult of materialism isn’t concerned with such mundane things as sanity. Money is no object when it comes to filling the void.

A lot of it is for status and style. Not any different than cars, some of the most stylish or luxurious cars are not built to last past 100,000 or 150,000 miles

I cannot find any reference to the glass at all anymore, neither sapphire nor ion-x ... it could be an oversight, or every S6 is either sapphire or ion-x ... better find out soon

This is truly a bummer. I just noticed a LOT of scratches on my Series 5, so I was thinking about taking the plunge and paying for the SS just to get the sapphire glass -- but it really DOES APPEAR TO BE GONE!

It's odd, because I would've imagined that the sapphire glass was a key differentiating feature for paying an additional $300 for SS!

Anyone know what happened?

I think the consensus is that this was Ive's baby and left with him. I wasn't a fan so good riddance.

I have Space Black Series 5. I will go for the Gold Stainless Series 6 this time. I hope it's not too different shade from Series 4/5.
Be careful with soaps and hand sanitizers near the gold stainless. I thought I was being very careful with my series 4 gold but it’s badly tarnished in the side facing toward my fingers. I think when I washed my hands some soap residue was left each time on that edge of the watch. It’s also not a very good gold color and looks brown in most indoor lighting. I think the new gold is more truly gold and much better looking.

Also got confirmation that Sapphire display is still in Series 6!

I guess I better hold onto mine. Hard to justify upgrading to a Series 6 when I currently have the Ceramic Series 5. I've never seen anyone else with one.

I've been wearing my S3 White Ceramic all day every day since launch. The only people I've bumped into that even knew what it was were Apple Store employees, and I've only ever had one person "notice" it in public and say "weird I didn't know they came in that color". Never seen another one in the wild.

Odd Apple doesn't have the sapphire on the website (going to SS on the case isn't going to add $300 to the case cost - in quantity aluminum is typically more expensive than steel), but seems almost certain they didn't drop it - way too much of a feature - and one I will probably go for with Series 6.

They drop it from 3rd generation.

100%, I was ready to upgrade from my Ceramic Series 3 but can't find any info about sapphire screen on the new models.
Same, just gonna stick with mine for now. Can’t imagine owning a non-ceramic and always worrying about scratches on face and body

From 3rd generation there is identical display in aluminium and steel.
