I really wanted to buy the ceramic S6 and was waiting for it. And they discontinued the 5 so I can’t even get the old ceramic one 😭. Do you guys think it’ll come back with the 7? Or maybe a refresh mid year

I cant find any mention of sapphire glass on website, they used to say it right on there....
Yes there is no mention of the front glass. Odd. Here is a clue as to what is going on ----"After Apple poured hundreds of millions of dollars into a sapphire maker, that supplier -- GT Advanced Technologies -- unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy protection late last year and severed ties with Apple in a public disagreement. " So it is Gorilla Glass but at least I hope it is the newest product---
Corning, whose Gorilla Glass display covers front Apple's iPhones and Samsung's Galaxy smartphones, is developing a new material that combines the toughness of Gorilla with a scratch-resistance that comes close to sapphire.

The developmental Gorilla Glass-like composite, currently dubbed Project Phire

Ion-X glass is clearly specified on the back of the aluminum Series 6 models so I suspect stainless and titanium models do have sapphire crystal and they just forgot to include this in the specs.

Yeah it's just weird how there are no back images of any of the stainless steel models. I really hope it has sapphire cause that's the main reason I got stainless steel.

I always buy the cheapest option. Space gray aluminum. I have never had a single scratch on my glass or on the watch at all. This is not a Swiss watch that I will keep forever so for someone that in my case has a 1 year life span why would I buy any option that is more expensive? I don't get why people pay way more for stainless steel or titanium for a watch that will be replaced a year later.

They dropped ceramic for the S4 and it returned in the S5. My thoughts are that the S7 will be a significant upgrade so ceramic may return then. The S6 is very minor update over the S5.

except you'll probably find that most of us that spend the extra on the SS watch intend to keep it more than 1 year.

I certainly accept that a yearly changer would be a fool to do it with the SS watch and is much better buying the much cheaper aluminium one.

I paid the extra for the series 4 SS version as I had a hunch that having changed the display size.. next year it would be an incremental upgrade at best... and I was right - series 5 only had the always on display (not much use really as I dont need the display on when im not actively looking at it)... and it had the same chip... so the series 4 is still going strong 2 years later.

Jury is still out whether the series 6 is enough of a change again from the series 4. Theres only really the blood oxygen sensor and a 20% faster processor.

I normally get a stainless steel, but went with graphite stainless steel this time. Now my series 4 can retire and my series 5 will take over sleep tracking duties.

I did the exact same, with the same plan. I will probably give the SS 4 to the oldest of a friend’s kids... whenever I get back to Japan. (Which as things stand, might be a while.)

Apple’s offers for buyback on the 4 and 5 are laughable.

Same boat in all respects -- I upgraded for the series 4 SS because that was an unusually significant upgrade. Last year's was more minor and this year's seems to be extremely minor.

I'm so annoyed they did away with space black stainless steel. I have to see the titanium before I consider buying. I love my space black stainless s4

Also, I would have gotten one of the new bands that doesn’t have a clasp of any kind. But when I went to see what size I would need, they wanted me to physically measure my wrist. They missed a huge opportunity to simply say if you use the small-medium sport band and you’re on the third hole, this is what size you need to order. I can’t believe that no one thought to use that as an option to determine band size for the new styles.

I miss my ceramic Apple watch I thought they were great but the battery is showing age so off to eBay it and my series 5 go to fund my apple watch 6.

There is (technically speaking) a Series 6 Space Black Stainless Steel model, but it‘s only the Hermès model. Whether it is “Space Black” SS like the previous generations or it’s actually the new Graphite, I suppose we’ll have to wait to compare the two in person. The renders look identical.

Glad to see(if I read properly) that oxygen monitoring is available in Australia. Here we are 3 series later and ECG is STILL not available in Australia. Poor negotiating Apple. I know its the Australian Medical system, but we also have been told that Apple has not been requesting any further for years.

Definitely disappointed.

As someone who loves design, especially industrial design and architectural design, I've always loved ceramic. The ceramic watches are gorgeous. The retro-contemporary vibe is amazing. Always makes me think of 2001 Space Odyssey and 1980s James Bond movies.

I really thought they would add more ceramic colors like a Product Red that would look stunning with the black face. A rich navy blue would also look amazeballs. White, Product Red, grey and navy would be an awesome ceramic lineup.

If it truly is the end of ceramic watches at Apple, I think it's a sign that they have truly become a numbers over industrial design company. Sure, it might be over-priced, but what amazingly gorgeous products aren't? That's the whole point.

Support chat confirmed for me as well that both SS and Titanium have the sapphire still. That’s enough for me to order and worst case if this is proven to be false then I simply will need to make a return.

Their print-off tool actually works very well, super easy. But then again, not everyone has a printer these days and I completely agree - your way would’ve been the best experience!

Any Apple Watch with the upgraded materials is not worth it for me personally. This isn’t an heirloom piece that you’ll use for a decade. It’s tech. I originally bought the SS first AW because it was good looking. Quickly returned it for an aluminum model that now sits unused in that fancy plastic box Apple used to provide. Remember those? Gone. Now no charger.

Ceramic probably had poor sales like most of their high end premium case offerings.
