But there is still the Mac mini space grey?
Yes, the ones with Intel CPUs. But only for a couple of months now and I think they will be phased out in the end of this year or very likely in the beginning of next.

If Apple discontinued iMac Pro, than it is likely, they will doing the same with most of Intel Macs in the comming months.

But there is still the Mac mini space grey?
Not on the M1 Mini, only the Intel Mini. And with Apple switching everything over to their own processors then the Intel Mini is not long for this world.

This is why, despite all the wishful thinking and rationalizations to the contrary, I suspect some people around here are going to be disappointed with the colour schemes of the forthcoming big iMac and redesigned MacBook Air and Pro. Unless Apple does something unexpected, and even then…

I am awaiting my new space grey iPad Pro and was hoping to order space grey accessories. Hopefully Apple will rethink this and come out with a non-num pad smaller keyboard to throw in the backpack with the iPad along with space grey pencil and other items. The new colors are laughable to me and I would never buy a product in those shades.

This. I think the big iMac is just that...a larger version of the colorful 24” just announced. It’s not the old iMac Pro.

My guess is Apple is slowly moving to this colour scheme:

Professional > Space Grey: iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro
Consumer > Colours: iPad Air, MacBook Air, iMac
Entry> Silver only: iPad, Mac mini

as long as they leave the space grey for the pro stuff, MacBook Pro iPad Pro, iPhone pro, I don't care if they want to launch a yellow Mac with pink penis all over it, I'm sure there will be someone that would buy such thing, but leave us the option of something a bit less childish other than silver

my mac mini in space grey still looks good today
got a logitech keyboard to match
bold move for aapl to go with 7 new colors
pretty cool i think

I’m sure this has to do with the new touch ID keyboards that will be showing up soon or whatever keyboard will come with the 27 inch iMac replacement.
Probably..but…like the last time the updated the keyboard, older macs could not use it.

I was planning on getting the space grey keyboard and trackpad to go with my Mac Pro 2013 and MacBook Pro 2018 since the space grey matches well with both, so I am glad I heard the news and ran out got them before they are gone, just in case the new ones are not compatible. Maybe with the MacBook Pro 2018, but probably not with the Mac Pro 2013.

What the hell is wrong with colors? I can see an argument of colors being distracting if they’re in view with the screen, but who cares about it if it’s on the sides/back?
I do right now but its not because i hate colour it's just I'm to lazy to make a setup that looks good with the colours lol.

These are such a nice upgrade to the battlestation. Really classes up the joint - get a set while you can!

Space Gray and Rose Gold are popular colours for the mainstream iPad. Silver not so much. And they’re not Pro models. This could change, maybe. But remember a lot if not most iPads end up in cases where the colour is not even visible. Only the bezel is visible. So it depends whether Apple wants to go all black or all white (light grey) bezels.

The iPad Air and Pro are already all black bezels regardless of colour. On the Air I think it’s more the idea in people’s minds because, again, the device is often in a case where you can no longer see the colour anyway. The only colour distinctions between Air and Pro are you can get Blue, Green and Rose Gold on the Air in addition to Space Gray and Silver available on both Air and Pro.

Space Gray on MacBooks was novel when it was introduced given Silver was the only option before. And it seemed most of the in-store units are SG whereas Silver and Rose Gold (on the Air) usually have to be ordered. I think we have a fair indication of where Apple is going colour wise with the MacBook Air. The Pro remains to be seen.

At this point I have my suspicions, but trying to make confident predictions here is really just trying to make reading tea leaves a science.

That would be the good outcome :)
Lets hope

What makes you think that? The M1 iMacs have redesigned keyboards and trackpads with more rounded edges. The keyboards have Touch ID.

These discontinued space gray options are the older, squared off edges. It makes sense to get rid of these before the new ‘pro’ iMac is released. That new model might well be in a space gray option, and will have the updated keyboards in the new style and with Touch ID.

Ugg, that probably means no space grey pro desktops with black bezels in the future? I prefer space grey over silver. I don't want a party decoration as my work machine....

With this kind of profit squeezing and operating on razor margins it seems to illustrate, just ONE bad decision by Apple is FAR more dangerous and deadly.

Maybe when Apple releases M2 Mini's, iMac's, Mac Pro's and MacBook Pro's, the Pro versions will be the first to get them and they'll come in Space Grey again (or, dare I hope, Black?!) :D

Apple knows that we all want our s**t in black. The DLC coated Apple Watch continues to be popular. Their sales numbers HAVE to be telling them there's still considerable demand there for the "Sith" version.

Maybe this is a good thing - we may FINALLY get all of our Apple devices in the colour that we love. Just Maybe. :)

You’re missing my point. The ones now don’t always “match” - it’s not an exact science apparently - so the idea they’re replacing them with some slightly different shade is unlikely to be the case.
No you’re missing my point. The space grey keyboard = it’s not supposed to match any product other than the iMac Pro. That’s the product it was designed for. I know there are 8,763 different space grey colors.

That’s my point. Whatever new iMac they design that comes in space grey will get a matching keyboard also in that same space grey. Just like they did with the iMac Pro.

Except when it shipped on Apple watches and iPads and MacBook airs and the entry level MacBook Pro 13”.
Keyword: Mac (not talking about iPads or Watches)

The MacBook Air was originally a higher-end Mac. Now it’s at the bottom, but that’s not originally where Apple marketed it. And yes MacBook “pro” which is also a high-end Mac.

This place is really an echo chamber where some believe they represent the majority of the customer base. They don’t.

If Apple listened only to the voices here their devices would be only in Gray and/or Black, just like so much if not most of the PC world.

Fortunately Apple bases their research on a much broader market rather than cater to a narrow niche.

The distinction some here are making between premium and mainstream is self-indulgent. In the real world pretty much all Apple products are seen as premium. The iPad is probably the most mainstream thing Apple makes, and yet amongst tablets the iPad is a premium device. MacBooks, even the Air, are not seen by the public at large as mainstream items. Mainstream laptops are two thirds to half the price of a MacBook Air. iMacs, even the small version, are not seen as mainstream computers like many PC AIOs.

This distinction is only in minds of some around here and it’s not one shared in the real world.
