Apple has published a support document (PDF) specifically for the "MacBook/MacBook Pro (Late 2008)" models. Besides the name, the document is not especially revealing. It appears to be a service document when replacing the display on the new MacBooks.

Article Link

See here is a fundamental difference between a PC user (tweak, over-clock, OSX86) vs your standard Mac user, they would have saved the document and it would be available for anyone to download anywhere.

LOL.

Just ribbing, but seriously, know one saved it! LOL

You may have a point there...the "one more thing" is DEFINITELY NOT gonna be a notebook.

1) It's not a tablet either, since tablets are a DEAD market;
2) It might be a greatly upgraded Mini, but I don't believe it; or
3) It might a new HDTV from Apple with all-inclusive media center capabilities...

I would be absolutely shocked if Apple released their own TV. If the "spotlight turns to notebooks" why talk about TVs? Talk about product divergence...

I'm wondering if there is even going to be a one more thing. As of late, Steve hasn't even done it in the press conferences. That could either mean apple is trying to steer away from them, or hasn't been doing them so when they actually do it isn't quite as expected.

I'm under the impression that the press conference will follow this order.
1. Quick MacBook Air update, specs and what not.
2. Numbers on macbook sales, market share, ect.
3. "Now, everything changes, bla, bla." The new macbook line(s)
4. If there's a one more thing: Mac Mini. The thing just hasn't been updated in for ever, and it could be marketed as "a desktop on the go," because it's essentially a notebook in a small desktop case.

Well, at least spotlight means something linked to art, presentation or media...there might be room for "one more thing" after all...

Well with Apple you never know but that idea just seems way, way out there. I don't think there will be a one more thing. There never is anymore...lol.

well i don't think that there will be something about HDTV!

According to MS they are presenting the new iLife and i guess this is it.

hey by the way isn't a new MB/MBP (hopefully MBA) update not enough ;)

If Steve does a "One more thing..." it'll be about the Mini. The spotlight is on the notebooks, but there is just one more thing...We refreshed the mini too.

jobs must be screaming at everyone in cupertino by now. i think this is the biggest product leak to happen so far. beyond the Nano 4G.

No actually, think back when the power mac g4 was leaked on their site. THAT was the biggest leak. lol

I discovered the document.

If you go to: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Misc/, you see 2 folders of interest:
Inserts/ 12-Oct-2008 17:14
Service/ 08-Oct-2008 18:05

The document was in the Inserts sub-folder which Apple has made it viewable publically.

In that folder, often DIY instructions are posted there-the document for the new MB/MBP is technician focused (not something a consumer would replace), so that's why the doc was removed.

On the other hand, the other Service folder (which has a sub-folder for "Service manuals"-which would contain the detailled service manual is only viewable after someone with GSX access logs in.

The second folder is not accessible by the general public.

Having watched a bunch of teh last keynotes, I've been dissapointed at the lack of a "one more thing" thing.

I'm also reminded of this.

So IDK. Maybe. I'd love some type of a tablet/imac hybrid.

Not really leaking if they do it themselves :)

reminds me of the scene from Yes Prime Minister -

It's an irregular verb -

I give confidential press briefings,
you leak,
he's been charged under Section 2A of the Official Secrets Act.

Hah, this is probably Apples worst kept secret. Cept the 3G iPhone of course but we at least knew that was next in line.

ok so the new macbook/macbook pros are coming out on tuesday (as well as FIFA 09 for any soccer fans out there) but apple's website still says the new, more powerful macbook pro on the website. just kinda funny.

1) It's not a tablet either, since tablets are a DEAD market;

Dead market? I beg to differ. In certain fields they can be extremely useful.

In teaching, tablets are ridiculously convenient for both the lecturer and the student, especially in science or math classes that require lots of figures. The instructor wants the image preserved and available on the internet for students who missed class? No problem. The students want the convenience of digital notes but with the ability to add drawings? No problem there either. I can assure you that most students in the field I'm in would probably have gotten a tablet, had they known how useful it would be.

Dead Link

I have gotten the chance to read the whole 6 pages of this discussion so someone might have said this already... the link is dead (to the pdf on apple's page). So I think Apple might have realized their mistake, (or properly carried out their plan lol).
