I was gonna say something... but I'm glad somebody pointed this out!Hurricane victims will be lucky to see 95% of donations to the Red Cross.
Greedy Apple, why not $2 million? /s
Good to see them supporting this disaster.
I don't think you understood my reply to this thread correctly...Sad, that you said this. That’s not how we treat people when they donate money to others.
I think it was a nice donation. Now let’s see the other 499 companies in the Fortune 500 donate a million each before we get critical of Apple.
I replied to this type of comment a few comments above from here. $1 million is $1 million. Donate it and move on. No need to make a PR stunt out of it. A lot of companies donate and it doesn't get sent out by the CEO, but then Apple couldn't waste that donation could they.
True, but everything these people do isn’t being scrutinized under public eye either (good or bad)Some people donate 10% every year. And with zero PR coverage.
This is the least they could do, after the last disastrous keynote. I am sure they will earn back the 1M with those 9$ headphone adapters within a few weeks.
Can't wait for everyone to take a dump on this $1 million donation because "they could afford more".
I don't think you understood my reply to this thread correctly...
Oh my lord! No one has mentioned the tax benefits Apple will get from this so far?![]()
Hurricane victims will be lucky to see 95% of donations to the Red Cross.
This is so wrong, as previous posts have mentioned (with citations).
What is wrong with you that you feel the need to spread disinformation? Is this one of President Cheeto's new talking points?

I'm pretty sure most people donate more then .0004% of their savings.
Here come the complaints we always see about how a trillion dollar company could do more. Before complaining, please let us know how much you contributed and how much your company contributed.
It’s still a million dollars. And no Apple doesn’t have a trillion dollars in cash lying around.![]()
Why is everyone bashing on Apple for donating $1M???...because it's pocket change for the company, doesn't make it worth less than $1M...wouldn't it be nice to help out a good cause, BECAUSE it's not an inconvenience to do so???
Please, just stop. This is totally nonsense.Love Apple all you want, I'm not here to tarnish your love of Apple. But in 2018, $1 million dollars is nothing in the scope of disaster relief, let alone to a multinational company. Apple doesn't need to banner this size of a donation with a message from its CEO, if it only wants to spend $1 million. If I'm smart enough to be able to afford to buy a $1,000 iPhone, I'm smart enough to know when Apples is using $1 million for a PR buy.
tax write off no big dealGreedy Apple, why not $2 million? /s

You are adding nothing to this discussion with such a reply. Please, just stop. This is totally nonsense.
No matter what Apple does this type of spin is indigenous to the internet. I don’t care if y’all spin apple’s donation any which way, they get my props for doing something, anything more than nothing. It's the optics.
It isn't the $1M that is in question by most … not really.
The amount is drawing criticism as it relates to Apple's ability and what it means relative to them in terms of the sacrifice.
There is little doubt it all helps in actuality.
But what they are doing is giving relatively nothing (as it pertains to their ability) and expecting positive 'feel good' recognition and PR for it … otherwise why tweet it. It's completely self-gratifying.
The amount is FAR less than they will in in interest in a single 8 hour work day.
If they had just done it and not made a 'look at me' platform out of it the benefit would still have happened.
It lacks humility.
I am kind of amazed. It's actually bad PR in action. See: thread.
No, you’re not by questioning a donation. You are adding nothing to this discussion with such a reply.
I agree it's a nice donation. I've said that. I don't agree with a rich company with a history of being PR addicts announcing such a modest donation in such a self-congratulatory way, from the CEO no less. The victims of this tragedy could use donations, but they don't need Apple white knighting such a small amount on their backs. But sure, $1 million is money. No, you’re not by questioning a donation.
It’s still $1M and they don’t have to do anything. Again, Apple is owne. Y the shareholders and we don’t want them writing blank checks to every cause. That’s not Apple’s role.
$285 BILLION in bank. Donates $1 million. LOL.
