Unfortunately, iWork isn't appealing whatsoever in its current form. Office Mac isn't much appealing either, but it's much better than iWork apps. The only I prefer on Windows, hands down, are the Office apps. Word on XP/Vista is just awesome, and it's not too hot on Mac. I don't see why Apple can't come up with a sophisticated, compelling competitor to Word, Excel, PPT, etc... Oh - and it must use the same file formats as Word (.doc, etc) to be accepted and useful. Editable in Word.

Ah. I suppose the laws of reason and sense cease to function in Padraig's mind. Can't say I'm surprised.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been a photograph of the machines so far. They are already in production.

Completely agree with you, i LOVE Apple, but MS Word and Excel are best-of-the-best for me, no doubt...

It's none of these things.

Apple is switching CPUs again, this time to UltraSPARC. The new 8 core Niagra was just too cool looking to pass up.

And in 2009 they're switching to ARM. Watch this space...

Internal Blu-Ray player in MBP's :D
Blu-ray will come to the Mac in time, but I don't believe it will be this year. First, it would need to be a burner, not just a player. Second, the price still needs to drop some more. Third, for MBPs a very thin slot loading reader/writer will be necessary. Fourth, HD-DVD needs to die first. :D:eek:

Maybe the Beatles will be coming to iTunes
Maybe they'll raise the Titanic some day. :D

I think it's more likely Apple will announce an xMac on Tuesday, than talk about the Beatles.

(Wouldn't it be sad if the remaining Beatles passed away before they made it to iTunes?)

NEW iTAB?

Could this be the long awaited mac tablet? Let me know what you guys this the odds on this is!

What if the medi event is about macs, but afterwards they just update the store with ipods.... 9 to 5 seem to be adamant about new nanos

No way would they introduce a new generation of iPods on a day that they had a media event, and not mention the iPods at the event. Absolutely no way.

Anyone thinking of a surprise early leopard release? Then they talk about iLife '08, a new airport base station. That's all for today, but there is one more thing. The new iMac. Lets not get our hopes up, it could just be a new iPhone.. :D

Why not, theyre is sometims a silent addition after an event. In contraadiction to myself, ilounge would have been invited if there was goign to be an ipod announcmenment, but new nanos, how cool would it be if they just showed up on the apple site....

Why not? Because a new iPod is big money, and they would never tack it on as an afterthought. Absolutely not going to happen.

You would really endorse a SILENT iPod upgrade?

Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Is the little graphic on 9 to 5 Mac anything special, or is it wheeled out for every event?

i think the first phase of major hype has gone... in the first few days there were news reports on every channel in the world, newspapers had entire parts dedicated to apple and the ifone, ads on the tv, bill-boards have them, reviews on so many places all saying the same 2 things (it sucks or its awsome).

most of the hype has died down, people are realising its just another product doing just another job that just been revolutionized by apple..AGAIN!!!.

updates wont get as much hype, but they will still attract some.

when no updates are around, itl b pretty quiet just like every other product i spose.
