New Best Seller

Nah, they are bringing back the Pet Rock as the iRock!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_rock

SCHWEETTTT ;)

And the iRock will out sell the iPhone, iPod, & the now 4th level Mac. Apple will then decide to drop the Mac as they need all of those assets to develop a new rock quarry to have all of the possible available sizes like: iRock Micro, iRock Mini, iRock, iRock Maxi, iRock Book Air, iRock Book, & the iRock Book Pro 15", 17" & 52" complete with 2-wheel cart & still no numeric keypad.

And they thought that they had kept this a secret.

Sheesh! Don't you know anything?
The new word is "Me", as in MeRock, MeRock Mini, MeRock Air, and so on, Methinks.

Who cares about ipods when you can have an iphone. ipods are becoming irrelevant.

Well, when I'm outside and doing serious running, hiking, or anything where I could drop my "music player" on a hard rock surface I would care much less if it was a ruggedized iPod that I use constantly when I exercise, than an iPhone which I am paranoid about cracking or scratching that beautiful touchscreen. I wouldn't risk anything using an iPhone in which my risk of dropping/scratching/cracking is high, but I don't care with either of my iPods (I have two) -- those are made to take the abuse.

Wrong date for a new Intel Mac Pro

I am wanting to get one, a mac pro, and am surprised that there has been no news about an upgrade to the line. New Chips video cards, architecture... its still a very very well made machine now but an upgrade means a drop in prices and I don't want to the guy who buys a big computer a month before they change it all.

The original Mac Pro I have started shipping in Aug of 06. In early 07 Apple added a dual quad processor while leaving the rest of the Intel Mac Pro with the same equipment & price. We then had to wait until Jan of 08 for an update. For this reason I would expect nothing before Jan of 09 & maybe even 4-6 months later. Thhe Intel Mac Pro gets updated at an almost longer time frame than the PPC Power Mac G5 was.

See you next year for the Intel Mac update. The iPods are updated yearly & the Intel Mac Pros at even a longer time interval, so just just purchase old or wait a few months if you can & get new.

Apple is expected to release new iPod nanos and a new iPod Touch.
Maybe the iPod shuffle and iPod classic will have minor updates, maybe even nothing but a color change.

Apple is expected to release new iPod nanos and a new iPod Touch. While Macbook and MacBook Pro updates are also in the pipeline, we have heard suggestions that those will not see updates until at least October.
Whoa. At least October. Although that wasn't too far out of previous rumors' timeframes, that does seem later than what was expected.

Maybe there will be another Mac event in October (MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, MacBook touch (tablet), and iLife '09 and iWork '09?). Or, the notebooks could be refreshed (and the tablet released) at a staggered schedule from September to October/November. If there's a Mac event, I say October 7.

When the new Apple secret product?
Either in the September event or at the same time as the new notebooks.

The new Intel quad-core mobile chips are set for production release in October. If so, I just hope the battery life isn't awful
The 2.27 GHz version is expected to have a 35 W TDP, the same as the current Penryn CPUs.

Looks like the early rumours of the long-awaited Apple Cinema displays were without foundation then.
If you're talking about the LED ACDs rumor some time ago, they were rumored for a MWSF 2009 release.

Kevin Rose confirms iTunes 8?

kevinrose "the new iTunes 8.0 visualizations are really trippy - there is one with planet like objects wrapping around each other w/stars/light streams"
WOOO!!!! Amazing! I like that. I'd even like to see an actual solar system/galaxy visualization. :D

There is a leaked (alleged) iWork update photo floating around out there somewhere.
Where? I'd like to see it!

That is a possibility for an upcoming release in the next couple of weeks, with back to school and all.
Agreed. I always had in my mind the possibility of iLife and iWork updates with the notebooks in an event not unlike the Mac event last year.

The invitation logo suggest to me the possibility that Apple is going to release Wi-Fi enabled iPod nano's and/or classics. The download bar graphic coupled with the "Coming Soon" graphic where a wireless icon might appear on an iPod screen seem to indicate that these areas might see a revision.

If so, I'm not sure what utility Wi-Fi would give to the current iPod line without wireless sync/downloading or streaming. Perhaps iTunes 8 might extend its wireless music server capabilities to include streaming to all iPods? Or perhaps the iPod itself will become a portable wireless music server?

Anyway, add my speculation to everyone else's. Hope Apple has a surprise or two.

iPods vs iPhones

Who cares about ipods when you can have an iphone. ipods are becoming irrelevant.

iPods are cheap enough where you can purchase one for every member of your family. If you're in a rich enough family where you can purchase an iPhone for your spouse & all of your kids then pass some of it around for the rest of us so that we can affore at least 1 iPhone if you really believe that the iPod is done & gone.

Lets Rock?
Maybe it's referring to the shape of the new Nano (how it's oval shaped) and when you set it down, it can literally rock on the table!

HA!
That is the one current Apple design fad I am not digging: the rounded, can't lay it on a table without wobble, treatment.

Funny observation/connection, TheSpaz.

Let’s Rock! - they’re finally adding the Def Leppard and AC/DC catalogue to iTunes, AC/DC will close the event giving us a showcase of the new album!

pretty good

my guess. Nano with WiFi. Beatles. Apple TV update. iTunes 8 w/ native AAC 5.1 audio. iPass subscription service.

Perhaps a new apple tv.

When you say native aac 5.1, I assume you mean for movies only right?

Other features that I would expect to see would be coverflow with shared libraries and some way to sync only portions of your itunes library with the apple tv. As it stands, syncing my 120,000 songs with the device every time is a huge drag and waste, considering I only watch movies on it.

Possibly a way to share your library tracks over wifi/3g, similar to how simplifymedia works? This in conjunction with the all-you-can listen subscription model.

Some countries, like Canada, are screwed when it comes to iPhone Data Plans. I'm not paying 85$ per month for 1 third of what you guys get, so I'd much rather have a regular cell phone which I rarely use anyways and a good iPod.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

Looking forward to it. I hope there will be a quicktime broadcast of it afterwards.

I hear you there. It's going to be a typical Jobsnote..

1. Look how much we sold!

2. Here's an award to someone!

3. We're REALLY REALLY excited about this one!!!?!

4. Ahm yeah, well, bit cheaper and more gigabytes..

5. Er..

6. That's it..

7. MBP updates on the way sometime in the near to late to never future!

I really want the new Macbook Pros, but i can't see what more they can add to the iPod that i'd be interested in. Sure, it's got a bigger flash capacity and a larger screen, and yeah it's cheaper, but all in all not that fantastic.

nope. it's:

7. Live performance by an act nobody cares about because we're all waiting for the "one more thing" that doesn't seem to get said anymore.

Seriously, these could be a high end designer line of rock-encased iPods, in a variety of granite, marble, onyx, and maybe even jade designs. They would be more rugged, but they would almost be entinrely comprised of ROCK.
