So all of us who are looking forward to the new iPods should tell Apple to not go forward with updating them just so you can get a new laptop or mini?

A bit selfish there huh?
 
Marbles, why don't you wait and see what the updates are before deciding?

Personally, I don't think they're going to use the 9th to talk about the Mac. Maybe just iTunes 8 and that's it. Computers will have to wait I'm afraid.
 
Mac meets Nokia

Easy this - Mac will unlock the doors to iTunes so Nokia with their "Comes With Music" don't walk away with the baby.

They are paying attention to notebooks. They're very likely to receive an update soon. iPod updates just fit into their current product schedule.
And actually, they AREN't overdue. According to the buyer's guide they're not even in "Don't buy- updates soon" territory yet.

Keep in mind that it is not Apple's job to cater to your personal needs.
 
Folks are forgetting Apple said the Sept. Quarter margins
Would be lowered due product transitions. September is that
Quarter. Perhaps all iPods go flash memory and this is the
Quarter Apple pays the $400 million to the beatles.

I have no doubt that Apple's decision to reinvent itself as a consumer electronics company has negatively impacted its ability to deliver state-of-the-art hardware and software products. The fact that we have seen MobileMe, iPhone, and now, apparently, iPod releases before new computer products is just more proof. This may help Apple's bottom line, but as someone who is primarily interested in Apple computers, it frustrates me.

I second that. My nano 2nd G is running fine and my 16Gb iPhone is on the way. What i am really yearning for is the new MacBook Pro!

It's just you. Lots of people in this thread want new iPods. My classic is still fine and so is my old iPod photo but I still want a new iPod this year!

Whilst I kind of agree, the ACD's and Mac Mini's have been ignored for some time now. No denying that really...

I don't want a MacBook/MacBook Pro event in October. That's too late. Sure, I'll wait it out anyway, but I want one now!

Now seriously, after this one, please focus on the Mac Hardware and software.

We need:
MacBook Pro updates
MacPro updates
Displays updates

on the software side, improvements and bug fixing on Leopard and many other apps.

Just a bit tired of massive iPhone and iPod news lately. :eek:

Do we really need a special event for Apple to update iPods???

I can't wait to see the improvements to the ipod touch, I hope the nano is smaller I really think they could shave the sides off it and people would be happy but I have heard lower price rumors? Apple would make a lot more people happy if they lowered prices. I hear all the time people that work at Best Buys that have to recommend you use some other product simply because people want more storage for less cost :(.

I would love to see apple also release the itunes update... i want some performance features please :D.

I still want some freaking computer updates!!!!!
PLEASE on the laptops...and desktops MORE front side BUS! 800mhz 1066mhz no I want 1300mhz please. I have seen windows computers fly because of that simple boost.
