Hopefully a little surprise , like new Macbooks or so.

It would be a (morally) stupid idea to launch another event only 2 (23d?) weeks after the first one!

Please Apple!!!

:rolleyes: Yes they do. They just have other products along with computers now. It's totally unreasonable to ask for an update to their computers every time their other products receive a refresh. Just because the iPhone and iPods have been the center of news recently doesn't mean that Macs are totally ignored now. There is just more news of other types now.

Sure. Their core offer has shifted from pro to consumer, and it has been headed this way since the introduction of the ipod. Initially i thought the ipod the saviour of apple, but now wouldn't be surprised if it were it's end.

I had hoped (years back) that the additional revenue from ipods could go into product development for pro products (remember that without the pro consumer base this brand would not be alive) but that sure isn't going to happen.

Look at the cinema displays - it is an absolute joke. What about both the MBP and Mac Pro. The only thing that has changed in the last four years is their names...

Do you think Ive even designs computers anymore? That would just be a waste of money...

There does not need to be an event for the new MacBooks. The first MacBooks were released without an event.

Yup. I agree. This might be the end, seeing how Apple puts all their eggs in one basket: A lowest denominator consumer product, while letting everything else suffer, not least the quality.

In the long run, I think this might hurt them as well. It's not as if they don't have the money to do more than one thing at the time, they seem to have chosen to ignore all the rest of the line-up, ignore doing proper QC and so on.

hmmm look at this guys hand, is he holding the new ipod, it's the shape of the cases we've been seeing

Note: Headphone wire connected at bottom of iPod.

So this means those other invitations were fakes, which is funny, because if I could have compared those invites to this invite, I would have considered this one fake.

This is cool. I think I'm getting a touch soon. But not until AFTER I get a Macbook.

Sooo, hurry it up. That'd be cool if there's a macbook "one more thing".

How soon will we be able to watch the event?

Yes, let's see a major extension of iTunes Plus. It's long overdue.

Damn right. The three labels I wish to see iTunes Plus are:

Walt Disney Records / Disneyland Records
Universal / Island Records (just in time for the new U2 album!! :D)
Sony Music

and I was taking psychology at the time so it was kinda a good lesson-

in how to be a complete sociopath
You got that right by a country mile.

Oh, and btw for those whining about yet another iPod event, at least your iPods still f**king WORK. I'm STILL in the market for a new iPod (even after reviving my old iPod w/ click wheel for a week at best) and it'd be nice to see at least cheaper iPods with flash memory which might last me longer than 2 yrs without failing horribly.

I happen to think positively about the display updates. They're long, LONG overdue and Apple needs to make them into tiny HDTVs for those of us who live in dorms and other small rooms for a living. Specifically, composite, component, & HDMI (covering ALL my present and future needs in a display...).

Also, I think Apple will have a few surprises up its sleeve, like a Kindle competitor and other things.

nope. it's:

7. Live performance by an act nobody cares about because we're all waiting for the "one more thing" that doesn't seem to get said anymore.

haha thats funny but sad cause its true:(:(

Apple is getting stupid:mad:

The MacBook and MacBook Pro was last updated in February 2008.

The iMac was last updated in April 2008.

The Mac Pro was last updated in January 2008.

The iPods (besides the shuffle and 32 GB touch) were last updated in September 2007, before the last Mac updates.

I am gonna be on vacation, so away from the Interworld as well...this event is gonna put the LAST nail in Microsoft's coffin for the Zune, with amazing new iPods that will redefine the genre once more...

MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD. GO APPLE! TORA! TORA! TORA!

"Tora Tora Tora?"

What are you, planning to inisiate a first strike at microsoft's home base up the east coast! Yep, MS, watch out for those ipod fighters!

Looking forward to iPod Touch 2G

I am looking forward to iPod updates. I'm going to purchase the high-end iPod Touch, whatever it contains. I hope that new laptops updates come soon as well, for so many of you apparently have been waiting. I just purchased my macbook a year ago, and once I did, I was completely satisfied. Although I no longer have the "latest and greatest" macbook, I have a better quality laptop than any of the windows machines I've owned.... and I have owned quite a few!

This is my first post, although I have been lurking and reading for over a year. Thanks to you good folks, I have learned so much about when to buy. I would've bought a Touch tomorrow without macrumors! (Tomorrow is my birthday!) Now I only have to wait a week to order. (Although it may not be shipping right away).

so what iPods are still fine cause nobody does better
but notebooks... The computer industry groes up ten times faster than the mp3
industry. They're is new technology (for computers) almost every week
So Apple NEED to refresh their macs more often if they don't want to get obsolete fast. Now don't get me wrong : the macs are the most beautiful computer ever, but for the inside, they are way behind everybody

So yes, indeed, Apple MUST refresh their computers more often then their ipods

the last iPod update was a complete redesign across the range. The last mac update certainly was not.

I also doubt they would launch an event only to announce a new iPod nano/touch.

Don't rule this out because when Apple rolled out new iPods last year (September 5, 2007) it was only an iPod, iTunes, and iPhone related event. Here are the titles from Apple's Press Releases that day:

- Apple Introduces All New iPod nano
- Apple Introduces New iPod classic
- Apple Unveils iPod touch
- Apple Unveils the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
- Apple and Starbucks Announce Music Partnership
- Apple Sets iPhone Price at $399 for this Holiday Season

My expectations for this event include SIGNIFICANT price reductions across the iPod line.

Then Apple rolled out MacBook and MacBook Pro updates in November without a special event. The same could happen this year but if Apple does have new designs for the MacBook or MacBook Pro, I would expect at least something press related. In addition, expect to see a MacBook Air revision with incremental processor and hard drive increases. The iMac is also prime for an update. The Mac mini and Mac Pro are overdue.

I know it's frustrating for many who have been holding off their purchases!

Okay, but last time they updated the iPod, nano, and introduced iPod touch...
Now we're only sure of the iPod nano, probably touch. Only 2 products?

no
ipod shuffle ---> new colors, maybe new design, maybe new capacities
ipod nano ---> new design, new prices, new capacities
ipod classic ---> new capacities, new prices
ipod touch ---> new design(minor changes), new features, new prices

...maybe a new ipod...
there is also itunes 8

so i think that with that steve can talk and talk and talk for 1h30:D

cool i just got myself a iPhone 3G but if they come out with a nice new Nano i might still get one or if iTunes Plus is indeed true then that

but we'll see next week so :D

Computers become dated more quickly than iPods though; it makes sense to update Macs when new processors and other technology becomes available. I am more likely to still be using a music player from a few years ago than I am a laptop from a few years ago.

Seems reasonable to expect the Mac lines should be updated more frequently than iPods.
