The price is really not the same - if you have to spend $100 extra for power cable and AC adapter. Meanwhile, huge numbers of people are out of work and getting fired.
The same if you count all the extra new hardware cost in the iPhone compared to last years.

I would disagree with you. My guess is that the iphone mini will sell like hotcakes. Also people looking for high end camera tech will definitely go for the pro. I am. Pro Max 6.7 for me.

I have the iPhone 11 Pro and I don't see anything about the new model camera that would even remotely tempt me to upgrade. Perhaps people coming from older models as the 11 Pro was a huge improvement over previous models.

USBC, touch ID would be real every day use improvements that would get me interested. 5G is a big step forward but as of yet there is only limited access. Maybe in a year that will be more useful.

iPhone 12 pro vs Pro Max camera.png

Pro Max 5x optical vs 2.5
1.7 pixel sensor with 60% more light
Sensor-shift OIS

$100 more
Larger
Have to wait till 11/6 vs 10/16

Frustrating that you have to change to the larger form factor and wait weeks longer, but seems like the upgrades would be worth it.

Thoughts?

So AT&T is offering $800 trade-in on iPhones newer than the iPhone 8. Does this mean I can get $800 trade-in for my second generation SE???!!! Lol

Apple being Apple, just trying to rake In more money with small upgrades. How much more can you hype up a camera? It’s not like it’s x-ray.
They should have held off on the phones this year IMO. 6G around the corner....
These phones will not be able to handle full 5G capabilities and the 5G network isn’t even fully deployed. Buying into hype and a concept during rough economic times.....smart.

That environment section explaining why it is so vital to give me less product for more dollar is possibly about to make me become a climate change denier.

Jobs might have pulled that schtick off but even Lisa Jackson didn’t really believe the crap she was asked to come out with.

The irony that I'm feeling is that one of the major reasons I want to switch from my Android phone to an iPhone is gaining iMessage but it also happens to be the one thing holding me back because there's no web app to allow me to text from a Windows machine. I get all the reasons (end to end encryption and all of that) and I'm fine with the security implications that come with Android Messages. I just can't see myself changing and losing the ability to text on my work machine easily without having to be near my phone. And no, a Mac will never be my work machine in my line of work.
Then don’t switch. What so hard about it?

**FacePalm** Every new Apple product that comes out people seem to think that Apple is selling it to THEM. They are not. Many people have much older phones. Although I have an iPhone 11, I also have an iPhone 6 Plus from several years ago that still works perfectly. Apple is selling to those customers who still have iPhones that are several years old. They'll be happy to take money from iPhone 11 customers but you are not their target audience.

Tread carefully. I bet there's an "up to" clause.

Lisa must have emitted at least 3 megatons of thought pollution from her mouth in that segment.

I have no problem at all waiting. Making a lot of photographs with my phone, I want that camera setup.

Yep. We've been into every-other to every-third generation territory for a while now.

Yet folks act surprised when there's not a compelling reason to upgrade every single year.

The 12 pro may get me to upgrade from my XS if I see the right deal from my carrier, or I'll wait. My 7 served me quite well until I bought the XS. As did my 6 until I bought the 7.

Not saying its hard . . I'm saying its ironic . . and i'm not switching. Maybe one day when iMessage becomes more convenient cross platform but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Ok. We don’t care how ironic it is on this Apple Event thread.

I went from 7plus in a year to X, it was revolutionary. I am going to keep my X for 4th year and maybe even 5th. Until notch dies.

so I didn't really miss anything (missed the live event) as I've heard about everything in the previous days ...

I’m still trying to figure out what the “pro” model offers over the base 12, the one 2.5x camera? This will be the year for people to save a lot of money and just get the 12.

What makes the “12 pro”, professional? It does’t even have features that cheap competitors phones have and in some cases have had for a long time. You can’t even get it in a “professional” black color. They reserved all the good colors for the base 12 model. The base 12 has the same Oled screens now, but at a slightly higher DPI, better and more colors, and is significantly cheaper. Why would anyone pay over 1,000 dollars for the pro models? Do they have a higher refresh rate screen? USB-C? More RAM? Anything????

This should have been called the 11s and then people wouldn’t have cared so much, if the 13 doesn’t have the literal kitchen sink thrown at it next year, then Apple is insane. I’m talking zero notch, under screen Touch ID, 120hz screens, some crazy 20x optical zoom periscope camera (And a real optical zoom, not this BS where they measure it from the ultra wide camera), actual software improvements to take advantage of the OLED screens like they promised 3 years ago and never delivered, big increase in ram, bigger batteries, USB-C, and a bunch of other things I can’t even think of. And if they do that, maybe, just maybe I’ll consider buying one. The sad part is they could have done all this with the 12 and didn’t because they think it’s better to give us incremental upgrades every year to try to impress Wall st.
