Apple Event Live Blog: iPhone 15, New Apple Watch Models, and More Expected

I can just hear Job cursing at everyone. Focus on design and engineering. Get rid of half the marketing team, it was they who came up with Pro/Max/Ultra and got rid of the 'S' moniker setting up the expectation that every year we are supposed to see massive new features.

VR and airpods aside, Apple is still milking Jobs-era projects. Simplicity and clarity of vision is being consumed by marketing gibberish, complexity, risk-aversion, and excessive product diversification within iPhone and iPad product lines.

Watching these "events" feels like watching an airline pre-flight security instruction videos for the hundreth time. Always the same 25%-faster-spec-bumps, identical stupid, scripted hand gestures, identical perfect diversity, identical "super excited to [fill ********]", identical face expressions. They could replace each and every person in the 90 minutes with a robot and it wouldn't change a thing.

God, I miss Steve and his real events, which had charisma.

Most of them are middle aged. With age does not necessarily come wisdom. But youth certainly doesn't have any either. You need adults in charge or you get something like Google's ADHD. We need more adults in charge and less of this "move fast and break things" mentality.

However they certainly are out of touch.
When I took a quick look at the video, everything seemed old and rotten. You could have taken the same videos from last year or even the year before last. Apple has clearly faltered and run out of ideas. Remember the energy of Jobs, when he entered the stage? Oh Apple, what have those bean counters done to you?

This presentation is a pain to watch. 10 minutes about a titanium frame? That is so poor

The "We're super excited" line is getting so old. But seriously, if you work at a tech company, literally every meeting with the product managers ends with "I'm super excited". It's a lazy and disingenuous attempt at creating alignment and camaraderie from people who care too much about what other people think.

I think I'll be ordering the Pro Max natural titanium, I loved the colour as soon as I seen it, plus I have the space black already and the graphite before that, so it will be a nice change. I really like the titanium outer, a welcome change from the "fingerprint magnet" of the polished stainless steel.

Looking forward to the double tap feature on the Ultra 2. I think it will be a feature I will use quite a lot.

I've got to say I hate the look of that leather replacement material (FineWoven) for the watch straps, iPhone cases. Looks really cheap in comparison. Hopefully a gap in the market to be filled with some good quality third party leather straps, iPhone cases.

Yes! And what about promised color matched iPhone cable included in the box? So much false information, this is unacceptable. Well respected and well informed Ming guy and Gurman my @ss.
I could be that Apple is playing Mark Gurman by covertly providing him with inaccurate information with the ultimate goal to diminish his credibility and subsequently destroy his reputation. Apple PsyOp FTW! Would be kinda badass tbh. LOL.

I'm guessing at least 80% of the whiners here, including myself, will order something regardless.
I'm thinking about a 15 or 15 pro because of 5G and USB-C. But there's no need or rush as my 11pro is still perfect and I'm waiting for the price to drop - and some reviews.
My main reason is that all the Lightning stuff really bugs me and I need 5G support some day. But the presentation was scary - should I switch to a nothing phone?

I watched it late so had the benefit of fast forwarding, which I did a lot as most of it was just buzzwords or talking about how advanced their manufacturing process is. I really wanted to be impressed with actual innovation in this stagnant market.

And what was with the bow legged stance? Maybe it was a hint they are playing cowboy this year.

Will not be upgrading.

I wouldn’t quite go that far but it was definitely one of their worst presentations. Jobs set a high bar and these guys don’t even present on, like, an average bar.

Well, they lied about trade-in value. It’s $580 for a 13PM. You mean the 14PM is worth $420 more than the 13PM? Which device gives a $1000 in trade value?
You can get $1000 trade in for the 13PM if you do it through a carrier. T-Mobile is offering $1000, which I'll be jumping on for that price. That's basically what I paid for it new 2 years ago. For basically $5/mo, I'll gladly take a new 15PM.

*EDIT* - CarAnalogy beat me to the same response.

Correct, but the $1,000 in credits is spread out over 36 months (which isn't a big deal if you plan on keeping your phone at least that long).

T-Mobile is 24 months. I think AT&T might be 36. I'm on T-Mobile, and I keep mine for two years, so it works out well for me.

Yah - I have an Ultra - it's been good. Double bright display on Ultra 2 - I'll do that. Also will get new Pro Max. Been upgrading every year since the beginning of iPhone - no reason to stop doing that, and maybe it's enriched my life considering I do spend $1500 per year just for cell phone service.

The old joke is - I use my iPhone nearly every day!
I had most models since day 1, but there were certain incremental updates that I skipped, like the 3GS :D

Looks like iPhone 15 Pros are capable of charging Apple Watch and Airpods.
