It is unlikely that the 11th gen Intel appear in november on Macs coz Intel delayed the 11th gen to next year
Thanks for the reminder, I corrected it to 10th gen as suggestion. There is also a rumor that Apple will add Cellular on Macbook lineup, probably with 5G thing going on, we could see it next year.

Why is it that the ONE THING that Apple has already said people refuse to believe? Macs get their own Apple Silicon variants separate from A-series chips.

it won’t be A14 or A14X or A14Z. It will be something else.

The naming doesn't matter much. They will be based on A14, A15, ...

When Apple said that, they first mentioned how X variant chips are different than iPhone chips as iPad has more thermal headroom and need more horsepower. The same situation goes for Macs compared to iPads.

Therefore, simply by giving the chip more CPU/GPU cores and pairing it with more RAM, they can still say "These are not iPhone chips, they are chips specifically made for Macs!" but that doesn't mean Mac chips will not be based on A14 (or A15 next year). The line up can simply go like:

A14: iPhone chip, 2 + 4 CPU cores, 4 GPU cores
A14X: iPad Pro chip: 4 + 4 CPU cores, 8 GPU cores
A14... (or whatever it is called due to being a Mac chip): 8 + 4 CPU cores, 16 GPU cores etc

If we get closer look at
* the portables:
- A2147 is close to A2141 (MBP 16") & A2158 close to A2159 (MBP 13" TB). Those can be 10th gen Intel upgrades on those models.
- A2182 is close to A2179 which is MBA 2020 model
- A2337-38 are at the end and could show 2 new ARM models, suggesting maybe new form factor of some sort (??)

* the desktops:
- A2348 & A2338-39 are two separate devices with the latter being in two models.

The 13" MacBook Pro is already on 10th Gen Intel, however the 16" is still on 9th Gen Intel and there is now 10th Gen Intel available so we might see a CPU upgrade for that model. The 13" MBP could go to 11th Gen (Tiger Lake), but they just upgraded it to 10th Gen so I don't believe this will happen.

Intel does have an 11th Gen CPU family (Tiger Lake) ready for the MacBook Air, so if Apple is not yet ready to move that model to ASi, then they could push a final Intel version with Tiger Lake. Or maybe Apple will offer both a Tiger Lake MacBook Air and an ASi MacBook Air, but I would be very surprised if that happens.

I do believe the 12" MacBook Retina will return with ASi so that could be one of the two models.

As for the desktops, we have had rumors of a 24" iMac for some months and releasing it with ASi makes sense. I could see the other model being the Mac Mini.

Interestingly the DTK Mac mini is also listed there with AS, not sure why? Is it going to be on sells?

Since it went into public use, I expect Apple was required to register it.

sounds like a overkill for 13'' MBP, I would use only 16gb Ram instead. Wonder what the GPU will be like. I expect the CPU to be 6 or 8 cores for the entry level machines. Next year later on maybe for the 16'' they'll put 12 core who knows. I hope the price will stay relatively the same. Unfortunately we all hope for lesser price but considering Apple, i doubt that.

I do generally have 16gb ram but if these macs are cheaper, which I think they will be, then I will go 32gb ram so it will be more future proof.

I am SO ready to get rid of this 2016 Macbook Pro. The worst laptop ever. So many problems. Need to get the keyboard fixed before November too.

Just out of curiosity, and I don't mean this in a combative way, but were you one who talked on these forums about how great the 2016 was shortly after you got it?

I just remember there being a big debate on macrumors back in 2016, those who said they hated the new design, keyboard, loss of magsafe, lack of upgradeable SSD, etc. Then there were those who replied angrily 'it's the future, these are the best apple laptops ever!'

The 16" Mbp will clearly have a much improved chip than the A14/14X and apple i bet is working on a custom made gpu to replace the need for the dGpu from the bigger imac and the bigger macbook pro
Sure, ofc. But this may come a bit later. It seems safer to begin with the least power-hungry computer, i.e. the MacBook.

every Apple Silicon device shipped so far has been fanless. Many of those outperform current Macs.

They 'outperform' them in brief benchmarks like Geekbench. But there's pretty much no situation on the ipad where you're exporting a 1 hour 4k video in Premiere. Will the apple silicon laptops stay cooler in situations like that - that's the real test.

Exciting news! Would be great if they had a Macbook/Air type device and a Pro ready for this event. I really want to see what the design is going to be like as much as the performance to be honest, to see what new features they're hopefully going to add in to the new laptops.
Or bring back some old features like Magsafe and the illuminated logo and skip the touchbar on the Pro. Would be great 👍

MagSafe will not be coming back since having a separate power port with it's own charger and cable is inefficient compared to using one of the USB-C ports. Plus third parties now have functional equivalents that work with USB-C and provide the same benefits all the way up to 100W (and ASi MBPs will likely not need that much power).

ARM Macs would be a great chance to introduce the Mac. Apple has been getting very non Apple of late with naming. Just have a lineup that is Mac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro. I don't know why we need Air in the line up and iMac... every Mac is a iMac now. Since we are getting into daft numbers for iPhone and iPad, they can be renamed Apple Phone and Apple Pad. I would love to see the clean line up from Apple.

I agree, the “Air” tag is outdated. I get it when Apple first released the Air as it was revolutionary due to the slim 10 yrs ago.

It’s also outdated for the ipad. IPad SE, iPad (Air), iPad Pro. Their naming across all their lines just leads to consumer confusion. Look how any iterations there the past 5 years for the iPhone. Geez. Pro, Max, S, SE, C.. Probably missing some. 2020 iPhone Pro 6’7. Simple.

Actually, are the iPads giving us an indication of where the laptops will go?

The Air and the Pro are both similar in form factor, but the Pro gets the "premium" features like FaceID and on the laptops focus on a powerful GPU we can assume?

I know, at the same time none of these Magsafe equivalents work properly or are broken fast. Should be easy for Apple to design a solution that has the benefits of Magsafe but still can be used as usb-c port also.
