and walk to it everytime i need it while i'm cooking and drag food all over my house? sounds great. i could just keep it right next to the tv and walk up to it instead too.

if the solution is always in fixing the user, then there is no need for things like air tags.

This isn't rocket science. If you know you're going to be in one area of the apartment, then choose the same location to set it down there. If you're going to be spending time in another section, then choose another location there, etc. Pretty simple. How many ***** times are you changing something with the remote that walking to it would be a burden? LOL!

Uh, obviously I'm talking about when you're NOT going to be using the remote for a while. Duh!

most of the time people lose remotes is during usage. anyway, the problem in this thread is that there is an easy solution that apple clearly had the tech to take care of and your solution is clearly to train the end user to change their lifestyle instead.

Kids defy rocket science. And find incredible ways to lose stuff. Is it still in room? You never know. Great fun searching house for it. Where’s the remote? I don’t know.

I've owned Apple TVs since the start. I've never lost the remove more than 10 seconds of searching. Why is it anywhere other than right next to the couch?
Is a living room with a couch the only room that can have an Apple TV in it?

Adding Find My support probably would've been relatively inexpensive, and even if the remote were $5-10 more when sold separately, the previous version was so reviled, they'd still have a robust take rate.

I sometimes get weary of the negativity and Apple-bashing around here, but this seems like a small and novel idea that would've delighted the user base, and Apple really screwed up by not incorporating it IMHO.

The device doesn't leave the home, it's not asinine they didn't include it. You don't need U1 in the new remote – you want it in the new remote.
Obviously you don’t have toddlers with ADHD.

Why not, if it's an issue? Common sense!
Because then the offspring couldn’t use the remote to operate the Apple TV. Make sense?

Ignoring the Siri remote comment - and the 8 repeats of the same joke on the first page. I've not been able to use my stereo HomePods as an output constantly on my Apple TV (including the new one) as some apps don't sync up when using them. Twitch for instance is about 5 seconds behind, it's awful. They've had this feature for about 6 months now and Twitch still hasn't fixed it in their app.
Every app I have...streaming wise...works flawlessly with dual HomePod Minis. Except for Twitch. No idea why. There's no reason why it shouldn't.
