Musk might be smarter than you think. I bet Twitter can be run with just a couple of hundred software engineers plus some IT people to keep the serves running.

holy **** that's the funniest and most ignorant thing to say about a platform of that size with that much traffic. lol I can't even stop shaking my head 😂😂😂😂

I tried to deactivate my account but got “Oops, an error happened.“ Perhaps Musk is afraid too many people deactivate! Or perhaps the people responsible for deactivating have been fired!

UPDATE: I could deactivate from the website.

Ha. Twitter is still good to follow journalists you like and get notifications on news etc. You can always unfollow/block Musk or whoever you're not interested in hearing from.

The basics of the platform are sound so long as it keeps ticking over.
bingo. people that “hate” Twitter or “don’t get it” really confuse me.

follow the people/companies you like and call it a day. it’s simple.

I will never delete my accounts. the humor, the immediate news etc is all too good. going strong since 2008.

Hmmm.

Schiller, when asked about the move to electric cars, says that he would "always" choose combustion but that he's also "ready for electric."

He's "ready." What a forward thinker.

Does anybody know what that no good, SOB Musk thinks about electric vehicles?

I'm sure he can't be as far-sightred as our Saint Phil.

What a whiny dweeb.

Cracks me up these lefties leaving twitter - a site that hosts the most graphic hardcore pornography on the internet - because they are offended… over Donald Trump.

These people are completely ridiculous and deserve to be mocked relentlessly.

He's talking about electric cars that emphasise self driving and automation, not just a change of energy source. You have to wait until a car or any compute dependent object is good enough before you decide to upgrade to it, especially when there is a risk to life.

Presently some electric cars are good enough if they require manual driving. Ones that emphasize or promote self driving are far far from the safety level that should be required.

I should not have to say that.

They keep hitting all-time records for traffic and active users. I doubt he’s the least bit worried about anyone deactivating.

Apple's Phil Schiller, responsible for Apple events and the App Store, has deactivated his Twitter account following recent developments on the platform.

phill-leaves-twitter-2.jpg

Schiller often used his account to promote new Apple products, services, software, and initiatives and interact with customers. As noted on Twitter by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, however, Schiller's account no longer exists. The account had over 200,000 followers and was created in November 2008 according to a web archive of the account dated November 4.

Yesterday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced that former President Trump's account would be reinstated on the platform following its suspension in January 2021. In a recent interview, Apple's CEO Tim Cook commented about the future of Twitter and the social media platform's relationship with Apple. During the interview, Cook said he remained hopeful Twitter would uphold its moderation standard under the new leadership.

Off Twitter … or, rather, I deactivated.

Clearly hasn’t used Twitter or consumed a legitimate news source for many many years.

They keep hitting all-time records due traffic and active users. I doubt he’s the least bit worried about anyone deactivating.

You better source that. Because all the legitimate reports suggest that Twitter has been and continues to bleed members at a rapid rate.

He won't be missed. It's extraordinary how triggered liberals are at the prospect that Twitter is going to once again be an unbiased public square.
I don’t get why so many keep perpetuating this lie that Twitter’s former owners and management were censoring the platform for completely arbitrary reasons and somehow struck a deal with “leftists” to thwart “the truth”.

You didn’t see people on Twitter like Donald Trump for the same reason that you don’t see them on YouTube.

-Advertisers don’t want to promote their products next to anything that could remotely be considered controversial.

The kind of Twitter were anyone can say whatever they want using whatever words they want to use has to be funded by direct donations because no advertiser in their right mind wants their products indirectly endorsing whatever uncensored rhetoric you or anyone else can think up.

He’s a car guy. Of course he prefers the ICE. All (for the most part) of us car fanatics do. That was his only point. Obviously electric is the future of mainstream vehicles… though it would be negligent to fail to mention other engine varieties including those that run on hydrogen and engines modified to burn low-emissions synthetic “gasoline.”

Exactly. In fact Twitter ignored their own TOS for YEARS in order to allow the former president to stay on the platform. He wasn’t victimized by Twitter. He was accommodated beyond any other single user until he himself abused the platform so egregiously and so dangerously that they had no other choice than to suspend his account.

But remember: all the Trump followers are being drenched in right wing media propaganda 24/7 that tells them how Twitter is evil, how Trump (and by extension them) is a victim, how nothing is his (and by extension their) fault and on and on and on. It’s no mystery why they behave like they do.

That conversation is obviously a very American thing.

Most of the developed world has had a very efficient electric vehicle for a long time. China has been building out a massive infrastructure to support theirs.

They have been self driving for decades. The pilot is only there to assist the vehicle and the passengers.

Look at these leftwing commie liberal woke vehicles. How dare they challenge my giant cyber SUV.

😝😝😝😝😝

Thank you!

And, as evident by the comments on everyone of these Twitter x Elon posts, a platform like Twitter will see both sides of the political spectrum inciting violence and throwing death threats at each other, try to expose personal information, etc.

This is why you need numerous employees doing moderation around the clock.

Or.. you see advertisers start complaining and very soon they start leaving.

Whoops, there goes your entire platform’s main source of revenue!

Advertisers don’t care about facts or feelings, they just want to sell their products to everyone and have nobody think they side with anyone.

The most political you’ll see brands is virtue signaling support for minorities during black history month or pride.

But they usually don’t associate openly with parties or have their products seen next to the latest controversy.

Why would it be different for them on Twitter?

How to tell a MR thread is toxic:
  1. Comments with phrases like "virtue signaling" and "woke mob" that normal people don't use in day to day life.
  2. Memes from Reddit that look like they were made by 12 year olds, posted as if they are clever commentary.
  3. A large number of unfamiliar faces apparently just here for the politics. These accounts are not usually seen commenting in the threads about Apple news.
Looks like this thread is three for three.

I tend to agree. The United States really dropped the ball when it comes to rail.

It's amazing how everyone now act like Asian aunties, gossiping on what someone did with his own Twitter account. It's his account, let him do what he wanted with it.

I deactivated mine the day I found out he took over. I knew this was coming. In fact it was the point of him buying it. Trump loves Putin because he uses his tactics. They complain about any media they don’t control. Twitter was a place where the truth was at times hard to find but it was there. n Not so much
