FYI... My computer was purchased Nov 2013 and I was just told this after they confirmed I was eligible via chat:

"However, at this point, due to busy season, service inventory is temporarily unavailable for the MacBook Pro Anti-Reflective Coating repair process. The Anti-Reflective Coating Repair can only be done after 18 February 2018 as it will be made available after that time"
That's wacky. I have a Genius Bar appointment tomorrow for this, so I'll let you all know what they tell me.

I’d be interested to hear. It was confirmed again when I called that they won’t accept mailed in computers with this issue right now. I can go to a Apple store as well but just thought that would be easier.

What happened?
He said they had exactly one of the display parts in the store, so they'll do the repair there. We talked about shipping it off too, but he didn't say anything about there being a supply constraint.

So, I'm thinking you might have better luck if you can make it to a Genius Bar in person.

I have an appointment this evening so will see what they say. Mine is a 13”...was yours the same or a 15?

I had very minimal wear on my screen's coating. I went in for a Genius Bar appointment yesterday. 13" late 2013 MBP, AppleCare expired. No questions asked, but they said they're out of the parts and I will have to go in again after February 18, 2018. Screen will still be covered and replaced at that time. I already had the screen replaced once during my AppleCare coverage for the same coating issue.

Ah...that's my model and probably what they'll tell me too then. In any case, it'll be good to get it on record even if there will be a wait.

yes i realized after leaving i didn't get a record. after, i got a record via chat, and they said they took note of it during my appointment and after the chat. they said not to worry about how long after feb. 18 but i'd do it soon after feb. 18th

I got the same story in store tonight. Although a little hitch when the genius guy told me my computer wasn’t eligible because I bought it on Nov 3, 2013 about six weeks before the 4 year cutoff. Fortunately AppleCare chat told me I was eligible a couple days earlier so once that was confirmed in the case notes he said since my expectations were set that way an exception would be made. I didn’t have to argue or anything, I just gave the chat case number and it was no problem. He wrote up new notes confirming everything and showed it all to me on his screen before submitting so everything is documented for when I reach out again in February.

Also my screen is otherwise damaged from a drop with about an inch on one side glitched out. He told me the program specifically mentioned that any other issues with the screen don’t disqualify you so all in all I’m happy they’re sorting it and I’ll end up with a pristine screen when back in stock.

Made an account to tell my story!

I contacted apple support via chat and was basically told I'm "eligible" for the replacement. Wording was a little off but other than being told I'd have to wait until "best to contact us about the repair after February 18th 2018." I was a little skeptical so I scheduled an appointment with my local apple authorized service provider and was told that I'm good to go, they'll replace the display. The only problem is that all displays were backordered and will not be in stock until Feb 18th and will be done in house.

So just gotta wait!

Has anyone been able to successfully replace their screen? I took mine to an Authorized Apple service center last December (I'm based in Manila and we don't have Genius bars here), and they told me I was eligible for a replacement. While the replacement part is free, they're charging me for the installation. Is this normal? Should I demand that the installation should also be free?

Anyone here own these MacBook models listed above and have NOT had any issues with their display? My MacBook Pro 2015 shows none of those display issues, guess I got a lucky one.

I use an early 2015 13" and it shows none of the issues.

Yes, it should be for free. In last month, I have been to 2 Apple Stores for other issues with my mid-2014 13" MacBook Pro, and my warranty was expiring on 12/30/17; both techs I asked about the laminate repair said it would be repaired for free from 4 years of purchase date which means I have another year as it was purchased at the end of Dec. 2014. I needed to backup my computer before I could leave it with them. By the time I got it back to them last week, Apple had announced that the laminate was out of stock and estimated availability is 2/18/2018. I insisted tech put note in my file that I was there under my warranty to have the repair made and that I would still be able to have the repair made once materials were back in stock. I don't trust anyone...hence my username, LOL! Good luck with your repair!

I had my 15" Late 2013 Macbook Pro screen replaced for no cost an an Apple store. Made a genius bar appointment in the last week in December and when I got there I told them I had screen delamination. They opened up the screen and saw it and immediately said I'm eligible for free repair. It took a day and a half for them to have the repair completed and everything is perfect after. I did fully back up my computer before and they asked me to confirm that I had a backup when I dropped it. Good luck to those of you who have this issue, it's definitely worth it to get them to do it.

I brought in my 13” 2014 rMBP with moderate staining into the Apple Store, the man took one glance at my screen and immediately told me I’m eligible for the replacement. Long story short, he told me they’d contact me after February 18th as others have previously mentioned due to the constraint. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Fast forward a few days and I get a peculiar email from the Apple Store indicating that my replacement part was in-store and to come in and get the repair done. I was almost certain this wasn’t the case, but I dropped by anyways and sure enough the man told me it was in stock and they were prepared to get it repaired. He went to the back for a few minutes and a second man came and told me they don’t actually have the authority to perform the repair for me because the system they use on their iPads prevented them from giving the repair job the green light until after the February 18th constraint was lifted and after they order a new screen. Basically, the replacement screen they already had in stock couldn’t be used for this specific repair. The first guy apologized to me about the misunderstanding as he was the one who issued that email for me to come in, which was nice since the other guy I talked to was a bit more hostile to me (he wasn’t anywhere near as friendly as they usually are at the Apple Store). Quite puzzling, but I’m not complaining as this is a $650 CAD repair I’m eventually getting for free. Hope this helps.

My 13" late 2013 MBP screen got replaced yesterday! It took less than 30 minutes to replace.
The replacement screen arrived in exactly a month to the AAD in Armenia.

The old screen got dozens of small dots thanks to key corners after around a month I purchased the laptop in June 2014 and during last few years the coat got ripped off in few areas in the center of the screen. It was noticeable and annoying. ( look to the attached photo ).

The new screen not only looks crisp with undamaged coat in place, but it also fixed the "image retention" issue I had with the other screen. No matter how long I keep the same image in the screen it doesn't persist. With the old one after around 5 minutes of keeping the image on screen it was "printed" and was clearly visible on gray background. As there is no way to check, is it possible to say with certainty who is the manufacturer of the screen? Like the old one was from LG and the new one is Samsung?
Also wifi antenna got replaced too as it's inside the clutch in the bottom of screen lid. My wifi connection was dropping occasionally at least once per day with the old one. Seems to be fixed with the new antenna as it didn't happen until now!

I'm really grateful to Apple!

I just called about my late 2013 rMBP (purchased in June 2014), explained the problem with the screen and said I'd heard there was a repair programme. I was put on hold for a couple of minutes and then they came back and told me that my laptop qualifies and booked an appointment to replace the screen at my local Apple Store this Friday :)

My MacBook Pro 2015 has the same problem, did you get your screen replaced?

I did the same 5 weeks ago, I have 2015 early MBP they said they can make appointment up to 1 month for service. I was needed the laptop so I just booked appointment few days ago for this Saturday. Laptop still in warranty will be end this month and the marks on the screen are quiet small but definitely something started...so I just want a fixed by apple during the 1 year warranty even this screen stuff program is extended.

Mine is 13'' 2015 model, bought it in 2016, warranty is out but they accepted it on replacement, waiting on service centre to return it.
One month ago i noticed one small dot in left bottom, planed to visit service but really needed my computer and in meantime in one month time it started on other parts of screen.
Most annoying part of this problem is that Its mostly used at desk, maybe i have to close it couple of times in month when i have to meet clients. And cleaning was always with that cloth that came with it, sometimes just plain water.
So now most of my worries are will that replacement screen have same problem in future, and how to prevent this.

Yes, this is a good question because even if apple extended this screen replacement program 3 years from the purchase date, we are middle of nowhere. Im sure the replaced lcd will have the same problem after a while. By the way, thanks for this thread because I gonna ask apple whats now...My one is in service now, 4-7 days and they fix it. It was no question about change lcd even the delamining was really small because I said I want you apple to fix it without no question...

What if the anti reflective coating is not flaking yet can I still get it replaced before the program ends?
