That was kind of the point @Count Blah was making. They were highlighting that the ADL have been blaming the share price drop on market manipulation, via negative press.

You are aiming your comments at entirely the wrong audience. ;)
And others have been saying the apple decimation league has been attempting to manipulate the stock price via the publishing of fake news.

Those "others" you are referring to are the ones I am referring to. They are the ones who are blaming the share price drop on the negative press and manipulation, whereas your original post corrects that.

You however gave a lesson to a person who was also referring to the "others". That is why I said you aimed your correction to the wrong audience.

How has the market spoken? There is only conjecture about this entire sales “slump”.

They clearly are not selling them in numbers they expected. They have cut orders twice. I don’t see how this is conjecture. When has Apple ever offered deals on phones that are only a couple of months old? NEVER. They sold themselves.

Yes, it’s still a trade-in deal but show me one example of Apple offering any deal like this in the past. I’ll be waiting.

It's not up to me to prove there isn't a sales slump, it's up to you to prove there is. Correlation does not imply causation. If you are using the stories posted on MacRumors as your "facts", that's on you. Last year the very same think was said about the iphone X and look how that turned out.

My only point, is whatever apple is doing now, only Apple knows the sales figures. Everything else is conjecture based on rumors.

Apple is arrogant so they finish like a Rome Empire. Few days ago I noticed a Mi Store (yes chinese Xiaomi) next to unathorized Apple store. Of course Apple store was totally empty. People even are not interested to look at new iPhones and Macs. The only hope is for Apple that most of top management will be replaced with enthusiasts and charismatic CEO with vision. Tim Cook does not understood a consumers at all.

Just out of curiousity do you think which consumers have better product satisfaction - Fiat Chrysler with zillions dollars or Ferrari? Coca Cola vs good mineral water? McDonalds vs good local restaurant? Microsoft is now more friendly company and innovative than Apple. This is not a good advertisement at all for Apple. They do not care about customers at all. They flushed all pro loyal costumers long time ago. So I have a similar opinion about Apple like music producer Rick Beato who said finally "STOP!". Apple is full of arrogancy and they are on the same level of honesty with people like Volkswagen who sold customers pre production test cars not for sale. Tim Cook Mr I N$$D MONEY.

Look at the customer focused surveys. Apple is mostly first in many of them. I don't know your criteria for how Microsoft is a more friendly company but I'm not sure that has any bearing of this conversation.

Stock manipulation?

You may not be aware that the US stock market and indices are down across the board. This last week alone has seen the market's worst plunge since the financial crisis in 2008. The Dow and S&P 500 have had the worst December since the 1931 Depression.

The S&P 500 is now down about 17% from its peak back in October, two months ago; the DOW is down about 16%. And the NASDAQ down about 22%. All over the last 2-3 months.

I'd be glad to further elaborate as to the reasons, but I'd be getting into PRSI issues which would not be appropriate for this thread.
Yeah, what WBRacing said.

Go thru these threads and just look at all the replies from fanbois who dismiss anything that doesn’t praise Apple, as fake news, stock manipulation. The concept of Apple being wrong about something is just impossible is their warped world.

So no, it wasn’t a comment about the overall state of the stock market.

Use the second hand markets to expand your user base . Thats a win win . Now you are just paying money and not getting a new user ...
i hope they pick a new CEO to safe Apple again ... last time they Made the same mistake and almost bankrupted the company . But Steve is not around to save Apple a second time

With a valuation of $850B, why does apple need saving?

i hope they pick a new CEO to safe Apple again
Product lineup is crazy.
You can see the panic because they stop selling the X, which was a reasonable phone.
MacBook 12", MacBook Air, MacBook Air non TB, MacBook Pro 13"
All the different iPads, different pencil versions.

So... There are a lot of comments from the usual Apple whiners that, paraphrased, Apple stock is tanking due to poor iPhone sales. Are you in that camp? If not, what are you saying Apple is wrong about?

You mean like how the analysts said iPhone X sales were dismal and those same “fanbois” who you are skewering said this is fake news, which indeed did turn out to be fake news?

All Apple need to do is knock $1-200 off most of their product line-up and tighten things up where some lines have gotten a little messy to give consumers clearer choices at clearer price points and Apple will be back to significant growth in no-time.

But the reality is, Apple is pretty damn stubborn and arrogant right now and they’ll convince themselves the real reason the XR isn’t selling is because they got the colour options wrong and next year, we’ll see some next generation XR priced $100 more in a new range of colours.

The American public has been buying cars for over 100 years. Walking into a showroom are a dizzying array of options. Going into Best Buy are a dizzzying array of tv choices.

Surely potential and existing apple customers can figure out the product offerings and the price point. (Just like automobiles)

it is. Apple stock closed last week at a market cap of $715 billion. Apple has lost over $350 billion in less than 2 months. Only company in history that can make that claim.
It’s also the only company in history that can claim a market cap of $1T for more than 5 milliseconds.

However we all know the dow has been zooming into record breaking territory while apple is the only tech stock to take a nose dive./s

Or how the iPhone 6 WAS actually bendy(Apple internal docs show employees discussing it), yet fanbois here shouted down this as preposterous.

Could list plenty more - iPhone batteries, mbp screen laminate, newer mbp keyboards, Mac Pro, etc... all items where the devout shouts down, dismisses, ridicules people for expressing anything but praise. But now the narrative is ‘stock manipulation’, because that’s the ONKY way to explain what is going on - it’s CERTAINLY not from anything Apple is doing, oh no!

There are manufacturing issues in every thing made under the planet, so that some iphones and others had some issues when tens and tens of millions are sold is not surprising.

However, the iphone x news, categorically turned out to be fake.

Apple's now slipped below $700B. It's not a good time for the stock market, which sure isn't helping Apple any, but day after day, they're one of the top losers. It's interesting you picked the Dow which is down about 12% from it's peak while Apple is down 35%. Had you picked the Nasdaq which reflects the tech sector and is down a lot more than the Dow, I could have pointed out that Apple is the most heavily weighted company in the Nasdaq index and dragging it down.

Not to turn this into a market analysis thread, the entire market has nosedived Apple along with it.

Well, excuse me but, the guy you are replying to just told you that the whole American stock market is plunging as of lately, I won't go in details, just read the post you are replying to (!), and you totally ignored that and kept talking about stock manipulation. Maybe answer on the substance of his comment instead of accusing other to do the same? And if you don't know what to say about the parallel between apple stocks going down and the whole American stock market going down (that's not an opinion by the way, just open any American online newspaper to read about it) maybe realise you may be wrong.
