The only thing that I "feel" Apple is behind is the camera unit, simply because Android OEMs iterate phones at much faster rate than Apple's yearly cycle.
Other than that, imo Apple is still at the forefront.
- Apple A12 is still faster than even the exynos 9825, the chip inside the upcoming Note10. I think we all know the Ax chip is arguably the best mobile chip out there at the moment, still.
- ISP. Although the likes of Huawei have features like night mode, imo Apple is still better with the ISP performance of their respective chips. Apple has perfected high-res panorama mode on the iPhones to the point that it just works. Smart HDR is amazing, much better than the "AI" on my P30. Apple only needs to figure out night mode next.
- Haptic feedback. Apple's taptic engine is way more advance than most generic vibrator used by others.
- FaceID. Nothing much to say here. And Apple already concluded that FaceID is their next step up from TouchID. That means Apple considers security as the improvement, not the feature like under display sensors.

To a certain degree yes, however there is so much more to a car and the driving experience compared to a mobile phone experience. Mobile phones have become a commodity.
Yes and no. The reason I mentioned cars, aside from brakes and engines is the style is different, even though the end is the same. An S class performs the same basic function as a Civic, albeit with a different style. Same with phones, the end game in 2019 is the same...phone calls, emails, facebook etc, but the style is different.

I agree, im just at the point where comparing phones is a bit of a fruitless exercise, they are so similar now and are all converging to a single point. I really believe any flagship phone in 2019 is going to have a great user experience and that includes the iPhone even though i prefer Android.

Since the OP (Bushman4) is not responding to anything inquiries on this thread, I’ll just input my own thoughts on this.

Apple is not really falling behind on anything, the camera low light needs some tweaking, but that’s likely coming here in a few weeks to see improvements . The reality is, almost every smart phone competitor shares similar technology alike, with Apple using the state of the art with 3-D facial mapping with Face ID. But where Apple falls in the same category as the other smart phone manufacturer’s, is their exorbitant-pricing. Where Apple can create a gateway to separate them self away from everyone else, would be creating a more lucrative/Feasible means of upgrading to the consumer where it’s ‘attractive.’

Now, we already know Apple isn’t going to lower the prices of their newest iPhones when they’re announced, because that’s traditionally not how Apple ‘works’, they want to maximize profits and please the shareholders/investors.

Apple can conclude all the latest technology they want in a smart phone with the ‘latest and greatest of everything’, but if the prices don’t reflect what the consumer can afford, then what good is that technology? _That_ is what others should be logically thinking moving forward with the iPhone future. In another words, the pricing has to be altered or changed in someway through trade-in/incentive/promotions to continue the iPhone growth if Apple plants on retaining these prices.

Only thing on the OP’s list that I agree with is the camera..

My girlfriend was joking all the time that her $399 Samsung (I guess it is a A30 or A20?) phone makes better pictures than my iPhone X. I didn't believe it until I started making pictures with her phone. And she is right, you can zoom in and it is still very sharp. So I looked up what type of camera this phone has, it apparently can go all the way up to 45 MP.

Then I started playing with her phone and it is lag free while having a bigger display then my $1000+ iPhone X. She has a headphone jack also.

So you know the iPhone X is just a "budget" phone if it tries to compete with that and doesn't even win. I was shocked really and no idea why I spend so much money on iPhone's.

And Apple selling a phone without 5G in 2019 again shows it competes with "budget" phones. All the features that the iPhone lacks, that is also what the budget phones of Samsung lack.

Apple used to be a leader an innovator when it came to iPhones but now it seems that Apple cares more about services for the iPhone. Really hate to see Samsung and others make more enticing phones
If Apple gives people new styles of iPhones people would upgrade quicker

I could definitely see software type things, multi tasking, some of the niche features other phones have which are cool. But Apple runs so smooth. I switch between Samsung and Apple often, Apple has caught up with a lot of things, if they give me a proper multi window multi tasking I’ll be happy forever

5G? Sure, only if you want to live right next to the 5G tower and have a hot phone with shorter battery life.

By the time 5G is universal (not carrier specific) and worldwide, we would already have 5G iPhone. Getting one now is just for bragging rights.

And about your girlfriend’s Samsung, I can get a Xiaomi that is better AND cheaper than it. In the Android world, Samsung is the same as Apple, overpriced.

Every year when we are on the cusp of new iPhones being announced I too find myself looking at things like the OP. Then logic sets in. Logic being dollars. Sure I would love to run out and buy the latest and greatest devices by both Apple and Samsung. But it’s Apple’s iOS that has me handcuffed. Apple is not the most perfect nor the best manufacturer of smartphones but their stuff does work. I think about the restocking fees I would have to pay and have had to pay in the past by switching to Android only to return back to Apple. Like everyone else says, Apple’s camera is behind the times and the form factor of the devices are starting to get dated but again they work.

Since the OP (Bushman4) is not responding to anything inquiries on this thread, I’ll just input my own thoughts on this.............

.

One example would be the Full Charge capability of the Note10 + in 25 minutes
These are important improvements which Apple should have as well

Buying an iPhone has never been about the specifications, it has always been about the user experience. I see my friends rambling on about how much RAM their new Android phone has, I just zone out because in my all years I never knew how much RAM my iPhone has. Why? Because it just worked and it never lagged. They at times mess with me saying my phone has 2GB RAM, and I say so what? I don't give a ****. My phone works. And I think that is what the iPhone means to its users, it just works.

NOW, having said that, one department I really find the iPhone lagging in is the camera and that is mostly because of the Google Camera AI, it really needs to up its game in that department. No wonder so many people jumped ship to the Pixel 3A when they ran the buyback offer for the 6.

I compare iPhone specs to other iPhones. Never ever to an Android phone. Because I know my iPhone 6S with a 2GB RAM would work better than an Android with 4GB RAM. And most of all, it runs on the OS that I am comfortable using.

Thread title in ALL CAPS. Shouting over style.

Phones are expensive. Only idiots upgrade just because Apple releases a new style of phone. Well, I look at a Samsung phone and say "so what". But if Samsung _did_ make more enticing phones, why would I hate to see that? They don't, but still, why the hate?

Although I must say I ran some benchmarks on an iPhone XR and the thing is pretty damned fast. About twice as fast as any Samsung phone.

I know people get excited by big name specs on android phones and loads of ram but really ram isn’t a big deal on iPhones. We know with iPhones they will last a lot longer than any android phone due to the chip inside the device and how long they update phones for and even years down the line you will still get a good price back which you don’t really expect given the age so from that point of view you have to keep on mind.

So what are you doing here?

Android/google is not an option. I have a friend who's Sony Experia had to be replaced three times and it still does not work. FaceID is superior to finger ID. Audio jack! LOL! Design? LOL!

I will give you the cameras for now.

Lol because your one friends android device was bad means it’s bad ? I never had a faulty android device ....

Here are few:
Display
Cameras
Sound : Dac + Amp
Design
Un display ultrasonic FP scanner
Modems: lte, 5G and wifi 6
Gpu (imo snapdragon adrenos from 845 and 855 are better)
Dynamic Vibration System - see sony xperia 1
Audio jack
Etc
[doublepost=1565949772][/doublepost]Usb C 3.1 with 5Gbps speed and Hdmi support
[doublepost=1565949814][/doublepost]And thats only hardware side ...

lol tf? The DAC in the Qualcomm chipsets sucks . Apples was always better . If it was the Exynos chipset or the dac in the LG phones then maybe.
The gpu isn’t better in the 845 or 855.

I am fine with android unlike some people here but still that list is a bunch of nonsense

Seeing as cameras are going to be great this year and display wise the iPhones have great displays

Why on earth are you mentioning 5G? It’s useless until at least 2020 and that’s when Apple will bring it out...android devices having it this year is just rushing it to market

GPU? Lol what...apples A chip destroys all comp so no android aren’t close to this area

Audio jack? You mean like the note 10?...oh wait...
Newsflash audio jack is going from every phone..get used to it

You mention FP scanner counts as apple being behind? Well android are a good 2 years behind on a system as capable as Face ID...works both ways

So from your list that was poor

Only thing missing from android is

Picture in picture
On screen widgets
spilt screen apps

Everything else? Apple is fully on par with or better than android..

Where android are behind

Notifications- (arriving on time)
Updates for non pixel
Support
Structured syncing with all devices
Eco system

So basically feature wise apple are not missing out on anything really hardware wise

Actually apples CPU is miles ahead of Qualcomm but the gpu side is a bit different . Wouldn’t say miles .

Umm no issues with notifications on android and if anything notifications on iOS is quite slow. I’ve noticed it comes in delayed on my iPhone X . My iPad Pro is fine

Security updates on non pixels are fine . Comes monthly most of the time . That is what is important.

Samsung makes more enticing phones...the notch sucks but hole punch is far more distracting. I owned an S10e and S10+, sold and returned, respectively. Useless curved screen edges, awesome. Note 10+ is $1100 and launching with Android P while Q is set to launch in a few weeks... Poor after sale support, zero physical store presence, plummeting resale value 3 months after launch. Yeah, sign me up. 5G? I live in a Verizon 5G market, couldn't care less about that yet. The S10 5G is obscenely overpriced. 1st gen LTE sucked, late 2020-2021-2022 is when 5G will be relevant.

I sold my iPhone XS locally for $800 last month...good luck getting back that value selling a Samsung phone.

I don't even own an iPhone at the moment, rolling with two Androids until September, yet fully realize and appreciate Apple's superiority over Samsung. Not even close.

Samsung does have a physical store network that’s much smaller then apples . They have one in NYC and personally I find it much better then apple stores. It was more laid back and not having all the tech in your face .

Notifications delay is a very common issue and quite a few reported it on here and it’s happened twice with my android devices. No excuse for it. It’s a known issue called android doze.

We aren’t talking security updates though but yearly software updates. Samsung do a good job with security updates and them not giving yearly updates to phones when it’s out I don’t really blame samsung...they are restricted by google and carriers it seems but still if I have a phone or tablet I don’t want to wait 6 months for the new software update not when you are spending a lot of money on devices.

If you read about the Xs and Xs Max displays, you’ll realize they are the very best implementation of AMOLED so far in a mobile device. Plain and simple!

Errr I disagree. Samsung makes the displays and I find their own phones displays to be better then apples .

I haven’t waited for Pie on my note 8 for that long . I think it was 4 months ? Those big ones it’s not that big of a deal in the scheme of things except for nerds ....

In the end of the day Apple and everybody else isn’t selling phones to nerds but to everybody . Most of these things don’t matter to the average joe. Don’t care about the processor and gpu , don’t care about lcd or oled . Just want a “fast” phone that is reliable.

Never heard of anybody having an issue with iphone notifications. Android though is a known issue and big reason why I got rid of my S10 plus.

It depends on your area and country. Still 4 months is hardly acceptable when most are paying for 800 to 1k phones. Are updates a deal breaker? No but if you are to keep said phone for longer than a few years you have to upgrade your phone after that point so value for money people are tending to lose out.

I have had some apps like my bank app tell me I purchased something minutes if not hours after I did. The app sends one every time you make a purchase, get money or etc. I never ever heard or had issues with my Android devices before. But YMMV

Security updates is what matters not OS updates. Nerds care about the OS update. In reality people probably don’t care what OS version they are on and just want a stable phone.
