Like I said, I'm not disagreeing, the technology used to produce great sounds is astounding, yet at the end of the day. The Homepod is a failure when measured up against Amazon and Google. Btw, I own a Homepod and enjoy it.

This Samsung fold is innovative on many levels, and its success is up in the air at such an early juncture but the technology developed to make this happen is completely mind blowing.
Samsung Fold makes to many compromises just to tick a checkbox of "we did it first" it's neither a good phone nor a good tablet. HomePod is hardly a failure from a technical standpoint and I would not trade it to anything else. I have two of them.

Yeah, from Apple headquarters ... ;)
Obviously this didn't catch Apple flatfooted, as foldable displays have been talked about for a while and Samsung's foldable phone was rumored for quite some time as well, but what can apple do? I mean Samsung has the advantage of developing display technologies, Apple buys display panels from others.

That’s the reason Apple WAS number one. Apple needs more emojis and watch bands.
No it wasn't, they are #1 in the watch market, not because of new band colors but because of the innovation in the watch. They were doing things that were not fully done with other smart watches.

As or emojis, the iPhone's popularity is not due to emojis but the phone itself and the ecosystem. We're seeing pushback on people buying new iPhones annually because all we're seeing is emojis and cute features that mean little, but are incurring high prices.

Samsung Fold makes to many compromises j
I think its too early to tell quite yet. While this phone is the very definition of bleeding edge, and we have to wait to see what sort of "teething" problems that early adopters will incur the foldable screen and integration of software like they did is innovative and incredible. I have my doubts that this will be a run away success in part because of the hefty price.

I’d put them lower personally. This and the story in dropping iPhone sales is why people say Apple is on the decline, not finished or ‘DOOMED’, but certainly in the decline.
And all since Cook took charge...

LOL. Apple IS doomed. Sorry, buddy. Once Pope Jobs dropped Computer from Apple Computer. The beginning of the end was when the stupid iPod came out. I saw it then. I called it. I was right in the end. The iPod failed. And it took down Apple with it.

Notice many of these companies require mobile "apps". Well then what are they running on? Thats right, iOS and Android.

Cynicism can also be valid criticism. Cynicism usually puts a reality check. There is some over the top cynicism, but a lot of it is perfectly valid. Most pro Apple posters only see the black and white and never the grey area. The grey area is often mistakenly interpreted as “negative” by the same posters.

Given your past posts, I will call out that you do neither. You are nearly perfectly happy with Apple which is great! But there are others that have entirely different goals with using Apple, so both are perfectly valid.

Agreed.

What I meant by mere cynicism (the kind that isn't based in valid criticism) are those that seriously act like the introduction of Animoji was adding to the delay of the Mac Pro or like Face ID wasn't an impressive achievement ("just shoved Kinect into a notch"), comments that just have no basis in reality. And I read a lot of those around here, which annoys me.

Since Tim, apple watch was a great product, airpods great product, W1 chip/T1 chip were innovative , from 3.5" now we have 5-6" iphones with better STBR, ipad pros for 2 years in a row, retina Macbook pro also were declared the best mac and windows laptops took the best display tehn and so on...
The list is about what was innovative in 2018.

Well of course, the only new thing I know about is the Airpods... everything else is just upgrades from what was around since the Jobs days..MacOS, iOS, iPhone, iPad, iWork, iCloud, you name it...

Curious, where are you getting that definition from, or is it your personal perception?

Innovation is about new changes to things. It’s best when changes are made for the better.

Apple innovation: Swift, APFS, custom chips, new unibody architecture, Force Touch, 3D Touch, Force Touch tracking, Touch ID, Face ID, rounded displays, health monitoring, ProMotion, Touch Bar, butterfly keyboard, beamforming sound, easy Bluetooth pairing.

Samsung innovation: too many to list.

I hope everyone who trusts lists like these can justify and agree why companies they’ve never heard of are in the top spots.

If you can’t, Apple at 17 is completely irrelevant.

Watch 4 is more innovative than anything tech released in 2018.

Lists are generally stupid and just opinion at their core. Apple at 17 this year is about as relevant as them being 1 last year. It’s just a way to get clicks and for people to read your silly list. Now the headline can be a”Apple drops to 17...innovation dead in Cupertino.”

And so many of you just eat it up.

I know that nearly no one on this forum cares, but Stitch Fix is not a “fishing” store. They sell women’s clothing from various retailers so you can try them on a home without shopping multiple stores.

Thank you. This was a good test to see if anyone actually read the article.

I had a good chortle over Stitch Fix as a fishing store for women. Talk about a niche market.

BTW, the also do men’s clothing too.

This is simply just false... Apple has come up with new and innovative ways to rip of their customers and alienate their most loyal followers. innovative pricing structures across all device categories. Tim Cook is an innovative genius.

In addition to a master list, Fast Company publishes a breakdown of most innovative companies by sector. Apple topped the list in the "Consumer Electronics" category, beating out companies like Google, Microsoft, and Dell.
Even though Apple ranked 17th, they finished better than their "peers"
So, if Apple ain't innovating, ain't nobody innovating.

I guess they are all waiting for Apple so they have something to copy.
