Wow. That is deep. I thought the earth spun faster in New York... y'know, that thing about a New York Minute?

Your point is valid but did you know that "irregardless" is not a word?

Full Length Movies

I am thinking that this is when Jobs will unveil full length movies in iTunes. Coming off the Pixar deal w/ Disney, the first movies available will be the Pixar movies and the rest of the Disney Library.

That list is pretty ambitious, but nothing that's physically large. It's mostly ports. Faster CPU isn't bigger, more ram is only a little more space. Even a TV tuner can probably be put onto a chip.

Well, yes, mostly, I think, but I'm not sure. You need to consider cooling and all that. Plus it's a matter of cost at a certain point. TV tuner makes sense just because anything halfway geared toward a media center needs to play TV and possibly use a TV screen - otherwise, you're not taking over the livingroom.

The base mini is a low end machine. Nobody expects all those features in a $499 machine, but there will be more expensive (or BTO) versions as well. I happen to think that they could do a DVR verson for $499 or less, the compromise would be minimal computer features (less ram, slow processor) There's no reason the mini can't be a media machine. Although if they did a reasonably priced DVR in a different case I'm sure nobody would complain.

Well, Apple hasn't been offering all that much BTO flexibility, possibly for cost and efficiency (BTO has to be built or prepared, and more flexibility means less preparing and more building, if you get what I mean.)

live coverage ?

does anyone know where will be available a live coverage (video, sound or text) of today's (just 1h15' left if my dashboard clock on cupertino is right...) event ?
I can't wait...
thanx

hasta luego

I hope it's a new iBook with a slot loading record player. I would LOVE to get my old 45s out of the closet. :)

I dont think anyone will have live coverage of today's event..macnn is saying "on site reporting" is banned..

This means no cell phones.period.

Does this mean they have something they won't want to have let out until after the meeting? Like something on iTunes or something? Or do they just not want cameras (other than their own)?

That's not what you said. You said that 99% of people were NOT happy with AAC. I guess you need to be more clear next time?

Yup, I did say that. But I guess it wasn't clear. There's no way 99% of people are happy with any product. And I know that at least 1.00001% are not happy with AAC downloads.

There's some new sites that do allow you to download high quality audio. One is called magnatune. What's cool about their site is that you can actually listen to it in high quality before you buy it. You can download it in any number of formats and get this - they actually let you decide what to pay for the product and will recommend a price.

Then they let you send your password to three of your friends to download it for themselves.

There's another site that is selling a broader group of commercial music but unfortunately they don't yet work with a mac so I won't mention it.

What I hope for is a day you can download not only good CD quality, but great SACD type quality. Yes, it is a dream. Until then....

A new intel Mac mini with digital audio out.

Music videos down?

Maybe disrelated, but the music video links in the bottom-left corner of the Quicktime page at apple.com haven't been working all morning. I get:

"Your request could not be completed.

The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store"

And this is for Sleater-Kinney and Interpol videos. Coincidence?

If their G4 laptop design could handle a duo, why wouldn't their G4 mini design as well? The G4 wasn't exactly the coolest chip ever. And neither are the alternatives to the duo, the solo runs at similar temp and power.

They've said that for at least the last two announcments. And it didn't stop on site reporting, just from certain sites. I'll be impressed if they ever are able to completely stop onsite reports.
