I'm Jamie (that doesn't stand for anything)

I think we are in for some media goodies today.

I dont think we are quite ready for a Wide Screen Video iPod.

Surely we are ready for an 'iTunes Pay-Per-View Movie Service' that we can access through Front Row on our lovely new Intel Mac Mini.

All we would have to do is connect our HD-TV to the video out on our shiny new Airport Express and hook up our 5.1 Surround Sound system to the optical output (dont tell me we will need to wait for 'WiFi N', the 54Mbps of 'G' far exceeds the Data Rate on DVD's).

Of course we will see some iPod products, Apple have to cash in on the monster (known as the iPod) it has created.

I'm also waitnig for a 12' MacBook Pro to replace my current PowerBook, Please Please Please Steve, Deliver!

wifi and lossy

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like hi-fi and the default codecs used to download songs off of iTunes go together.

That's why I like to rip my own hi rate music, or even rip to lossless.

Can iTunes go lossless? Would the record industry accept that?

New mac

I heard from an inside source that they will be releasing a new line of computers

They sould amazing, get this they are called "Super power mac mice"

Like the imac where the computer is in the screen, the computer is in the mouse.

It connects to a tv, moniter or projector.
Included with the mouse is the keybored with has all the ports and space for upgraded ram.

The system is report to house a core duo with a clock speed of 2.57 ghz.

So excited!!

I am still thinking about the message apple is sending by using the iCal symbol on the invitation. It has to be more than "just" music and video.

Maybe when internet connections get faster, and HDDs get even bigger.

Till then AAC will keep 99.9% of us happy.

I'm a sound engineer and personaly (when compared to CD's) I think AAC sounds great, It delivers plenty of Bass and (when plugged into my hi-fi) a lot of punch.

On a professinal point of view, I think the most relevant question is 'dont you think CD's and HiFi's dont go together?? CD's and equivalent technologies have the dynamic range of a dead slug. Listen to SuperAudio CD or DVD Audio and you will see what I mean (its such a shame that both of these technologies never caught on).

That would Rock, i would have been happy with a wireless mighty mouse, but that sounds boring now!

The 'Industry' loves new formats, look what happend when CD's came out, everyones mums went out and bought all their Elton John Albums all over again!

I know it's 'fun new products but i would really love to see some attempt at video content worldwide.

Copyright is getting me down...

The last few product launches have had a 'mirror' feed for UK journos at the BBC studios. I wonder if there's one of this one - or if the 'fun' will be purely US. If it's 'movies', I'm not going to get remotely excited since it probably wouldn't make it to markets outside the US for months afterwards.

Ehh

As I sit here with my Dual 1 GIG G4 Mirror door with 2 (apple) firewire ports and my ipod nano running blazzing fast on my USB 1.1 instead of 2.0!

Dude why don't you just get a usb 2.0 pci card?! They must be cheap.

I just bought a bluetooth one click mouse today. If a bluetooth mighty mouse comes out tomorrow, I will be dissapointed.

Fun new products

Fun. New. Products.

An Apple version of the Monopoly board game with squares like 'Cupertino' and chance cards like 'New computer has too little system RAM as standard, pay for an upgrade'.

And

An Apple-branded iPod speaker system with a light that changes according to the music.

And nothing else. No computers etc. Those two items would hit all the criteria above. (Plural, fun, new).

OK, they wouldn't do that, but I'm just saying, don't get too excited guys. Seriously. With great hope comes great disappointment...

Just dreaming about a built to order option for the new intel Powermacs to also include a built to order video card with ADC support for all us suckers who bought Apple displays for thousands of dollars who now wish to upgrade their system but don't think they should have to buy a new display!/QUOTE]

This is off topic but: You don't need a new display. You can get a DVI to ADC convertor.

Im right there with ya. wat the hell does a boombox hav to do with an ical image???? calendars are used to ORGANISE. Wat technology is used to organise??? a PDA/electronic organiser. I really hope we see a iPod/touch-screen PDA :D

PDA ipod? That's got me interested. I'd definatly be in the market for that.

Come to think of it, it's quite a likely product, inbetween the two expectations, and perhaps a good first step to tablets.

Touch screen iPod - limited PDA functionality - the ability to run some dashboard widgets on it - WiFi included.

So this is probably a really stupid question but what the Hell does the "i" stand for in...

ipod
iweb
imac
ibook
itunes
iphoto
imovie
etc.

?????????
does anyone even know?

I always thought it was "Intelligent" kind of an Apple Think Different ploy

How do you know?

This sounds possible, but how do you know? what about BT for camera and wireless headsets?

I'm surprised Apple still hasn't added a camera to iPod because with any mobile phone you get MP3 capabilties and a camera.

I think a nice 2.0 Megapixel Camera and a radio funtion would be a very nice addition to the "top of the line" iPods out there.

Those little hints you see on invitations only seem to make sense one the release has happened.

I would buy an iPod with a built in camera. But, I don't think it's in Apple's plans.
