Darnit!

Guys, guys! I will be up in the mountains at the time shooting some photography and probably will miss the event entirely! If only I had a device that I could write notes on to send to here with messages like "status x." Or maybe this device could operate on 3G networks and I could just read the webpage on the full version of Explorer, hoping I dont get too many popups on something that size.....
Hey, I gotta run, I need to write these ideas down quick. A name, a name! It would be constantly changing and small enough that it would be like delicate origami! Oh man, I'm a genius, I need to call Paul and let him in on this. Guys I'll have a press conference later tonight. Dont buy the first one, it wont be out to next Christmas as a Developer betaBETA test. I finally have an iPod killer!

i should say the i was never explicitly mentioned as standing for the internet, but the original commercials focused on the iMac's ease of connecting to the internet. the whole "there is no step 3" thing.

In the Jobs keynote where he talked about dropping the Interim from his title. He says he liked iCEO because of the internet.

I am still thinking about the message apple is sending by using the iCal symbol on the invitation. It has to be more than "just" music and video.

Well, even though I would love a iPDA/iPod combination, I don't think that the iCal symbol means much. I just saw it as meaning 'save the date' (on iCal).

So I wouldn't get your hopes up :-\

God damn it.

I have a feeling there will be a sudden *swoosh* as hundreds of dollars leave my wallet later today. :D

I dunno why, but I don't ****ing think so... ;)

It's gonna be more like "new Boombox", "new iTMS Content" and "new .Mac", nothing else...trust me... ;)

Rumor has it. The New Intel Mac Mini will include a Screen and Keyboard. Around $600.

That makes NO sense. The whole point of the mini is it's cheaper because it doesn't include a screen. If it includes a screen, then why not just get a (probably better) iMac? Where did you get this goofy idea?

Hopefully prices will stay the same on the intel mini. They may offer bundles with a screen, but it won't "include" one, they'll sell it without it.

I don't think the calendar on the invite hints at anything. If they were going to announce a boombox, you think they're going to have an invite with a boombox on it? With past announcements, people have figured it out beforehand, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to put the kibosh on hints.

Sweet!!!

My class is over at 11:15 am eastern, then I'll eat lunch then come back to my dorm and wait for 1! I don't have another class til 6:30 tonight, so I'm set! :D

i'll be checking as soon as I get home

I'm a mac geek...i'll admit it :)

i'll be taking the kids to the dentists and then whammo! checking the site as soon as I get home!

i expect them to launch a movie dload service considering it was yahoo or google who announced this last month. this would make sense with apple acquiring the data centre.

if they do, for the love of God, i hope they let other countries in on it. i realize there are copyright laws and stuff to get through like itunes, but i'm a stay-at-home Dad...like i get time to hit the theatres!!!! :)

go apple go!
:)

No, the invite said register at 9AM for the thing to start at 10. That means we East coasters will have to wait til 1 in the afternoon...
Bum, that's probably 6pm UK. Oh well, I'll still be at work, I just won't be working.

I imagine the IRC chat will be all go as per usual?

on the news last night, they said Tivo was giving tivo's away to get more business. could this have anything to do with what happens in 4 hours?

And you think this boombox is going to be cheap?

If it is $100.00 less than the Bose Soundock, then I will buy it. It will have to do something pretty special for me not to get the Soundock, which I was planning on getting this week, until I heard this rumor.

The most likely products for release include an iPod Boombox and the Intel Mac mini.
...

Why are the iPod Boombox and Intel Mini the most likely products? Because the've been floating around as rumors for a while? Is there any new info pointing to these?

I mean, I know the Mini and iBook (and all other Mac lines) will be updated this year (or killled) because Steve said so it's pretty likely that one of them will be updated...

But is there any solid reason to expect a PVR-Mini? I know, I konw, just wait a few hours and all will be revealed... I've got tons of work to do, so hopefully the day will go fast (not :( )

I consider myself "agnostic" as far as the MAC goes. I use Windows, Linux and MAC depending on the use case. I bought a MAC Powerbook for my portable use because it was a lightweight portable Unix box for development reasons.

It is Mac not MAC

BoomBox

Unless this is a HUGE 8 pound iPod with massive storage(wink wink) Apple bringing out a iPod BoomBox similar to the iPod speaker docks is just stupid. I agree a boombox with good speakers and a LARGE hard disk (100-200 GIG) would be a outstanding idea.

You know, with the rumors flying around, there's gonna be a riot if the announcement turns out to be a few iPod trinkets.

My wife's prediciton: three differnt colors of iPod chargers. (She has a brother who knows someone who works at Apple, so you never know...)

The wording of the invite implies that it is nothing major. So people building themselves up for a big event are likely to be disappointed. Having said that, Apple inviting a load of press to an event to announce a new iPod cover and speakers is either not the case or one hell of a cheek

I got a Sounddock for Christmas last year, and it's great. The only quibble I have with it is this: if you unplug it, the volume resets to maximum. So, if I don't remember to reset the volume right when the song gets started up, wham! Other than that, it sounds good and works fine with both my 4G and the wife's mini. Cheers!

UK Apple Store already offline...

UK Apple Store has been unavailable since sometime around 12:00 GMT (a full six hours ahead of the Cupertino announcements). Hmmmm... does this point towards a more substantial overhaul than in previous announcements? Give me Dual Core MacBook. Gimme, gimme, gimme. :p
