Hahah, quit complaining everyone. I've gotta wait until 2:30 to see this, and I'm still in North America.. It's 10:40 here now, and I don't have school today. I DON'T WANT TO WAIT 6 MORE HOURS!

why would they release a G5 PB?! they just gave us the Macbook Pro. maybe a 12" and 17" model but not a G5

It's a joke, get over it.

I personally don't care much about this annoucncement. I doubt that anything released will be something that I desperately want, unless it's a media center Mac mini, which I wouldn't bet on. So it's just going to be one of those days where I just go 'Meh, it's neat' and go on.

UK Apple Store has been unavailable since sometime around 12:00 GMT (a full six hours ahead of the Cupertino announcements). Hmmmm... does this point towards a more substantial overhaul than in previous announcements? Give me Dual Core MacBook. Gimme, gimme, gimme. :p

Apple Store UK is online now, must have just been a technical fault.

Happy, wot?

Maybe when internet connections get faster, and HDDs get even bigger.

Till then AAC will keep 99.9% of us happy.

I'm a sound engineer and personaly (when compared to CD's) I think AAC sounds great, It delivers plenty of Bass and (when plugged into my hi-fi) a lot of punch.

On a professinal point of view, I think the most relevant question is 'dont you think CD's and HiFi's dont go together?? CD's and equivalent technologies have the dynamic range of a dead slug. Listen to SuperAudio CD or DVD Audio and you will see what I mean (its such a shame that both of these technologies never caught on).

Agree on the needed bandwidth for getting HDD and lossless audio. But 99% of us aren't happy with AAC downloads. Some of them sound good, others not good.

Then again I have a modded Sony 777ES SACD player. On my NHT Xd system one colleague said, everything should be on SACD. It's that good.

Okay so today, let's get a mac mini intel server with DVI capability and improved audio out options.

Then we move one step closer to delivering the content the way it should.

I've cancelled a photo shoot at IAH-Intercontinental Airport just for this event!
It'll be interesting to see what how they came up with Hi-Fi.

I've cancelled a lunch (6 inch tuna on wheat) at Subway just for this event!

I get the feeling (as usual) that everyone is expecting too much; I think the "fun" was supposed to reduce expectations; I dont see how "fun" even encompasses consumer computer hardware; its going to be ipods and store stuff. The ONLY thing that leads me to believe that something else is coming is the pathetic "HEY ME TOO ME TOO" Microsoft prototype concept "announcement."

I'm excited no matter what they bring out it should spark more developer interest in supporting the Intel Macs...

Official Universal Binary for Firefox anyone?

I'm so excited!! I'm pretty sure 10am in the States equates to a 6pm time over here in the UK so come 6 o'clock I'm going to make sure I'm on Campus and ready to order from the University Store should the right product come out (Good Spec Mac Mini).

Might have to make myself some sandwiches...

Jobs walks on stage

Hi there, and welcome again to Apple Computer. We've had a great year, iPod sales are through the roof, just sold our billionth song on iTunes. Intel Macs are well on the way, we just started mailing out MacBook Pros. And it's just the start of the year, and we have some great products in the pipeline. I thought it'd be great to have a little get together where I can show you some of the new fun products we have ready for production. So, without further ado.

First stop: it's a green iPod nano. Yep, green. Nobody predicted that. We're thinking "Great sales every St Patrick's Day" with this one. 25c from every sale goes to charity, we haven't decided which one, but we'll figure it out over the next few months. See how well it sells and then figure out who needs that kind of money.

Audience is beginning to get restless

Now, moving right on, we have some great apps in our iLife suite. iMovie downloads movies from your DV camera, lets you play with them, turn them into a finished edit. iPhoto does likewise with your regular camera. And iCal integrates with your PDA or phone and lets you edit a calendar you can share with your phone or camera. Now, that wasn't part of iLife, but we were figuring, what if we made a really good version that was? So, presenting iTime. Now, not only does this work as a calendar, but it can send SMS messages to remind you of stuff directly to your phone. Is that cool or what? It's part of iLife '07, but we're sending a preview version via Software Update right now.

Audience is looking at Jobs quizically, waiting for "One more thing"

Now, look at this. It's like a bird, and you pull it on one end, and it does a kind of pecking thing. Nothing to do with the iPod, but it's hilarious, so we're putting it on sale on the Apple store.

Audience is getting aggitated

Ok, ok, I have a new computer to announce.

Audience breathes sigh of relief

It's the new Mac mini. Now, we haven't got the Intel design ready yet, so we're upgrading the clock speed at little. For $499, it's a 1.5GHz G4, and for $599, it's a 1.66GHz G4. Also we're going to throw in the airport card and bluetooth for free. It's like the old Mac mini, only it's better.

Audience is going wide-eyed

Now, one last thing. How many times have you walked around and said "You know what would be cool? If I could plug my iPod into some really cool stereo speakers. So here we have them, the iPod Boombox. Comes with a cool white cable, 3.5mm jack on the end. Just plug it in, and the twin-50W speakers will fill an entire bathroom sized room with sound. And you can buy them now for just $399.

Audience is now furious

"I paid $9 for this?"
"I paid $10!"
"Boo!"
"Dude, I am, like, so totally getting those speakers."

Tomatoes are thrown, Steve makes hurried exit

It starts at 10am but they're not going to say "Welcome, Apples new products are..... thank you and goodbye" and be out of the building by 5 past.

ooohhh.....i hope that does mean something. Although the US store is still not offline. What does that mean?

Edit: oh nev mind...only a glitch.

Please let it be a true video iPod

My Archos AV-500 is such a pain to work with w/o having a Windows machine!! I really hope they do come out with a touchscreen video iPod that'll also have better PIM apps and run dashboard widgets (and hopefully it's powered by a lite version of Darwin so shell scripting is possible).
Then please have a Wifi/bluetooth module available to plug into the dock connector... keyboard accessory would be awesome too!
