Point me to these stats please, given the option to obtain a free charger I assure you the number who opt out will paint a different picture.
The only “stat” I have is that there are over 2 billion chargers, per Apple’s Lisa Jackson:

"There are also over 2 billion Apple power adapters out there in the world, and that's not counting the billions of third-party adapters. We're removing these items from the iPhone box, which reduces carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials."

Assuming the android device had a USB charger (and most, if not all use USB-C now) then your charger can charge an iPhone with the cable included in the iPhone box.
I've always seen advice to not use non-approved chargers with Apple products. Strange that that advice is now gone, only when Apple stops providing the chargers in the box. I even see an article from just four months ago saying the same.

That said, I didn't mind trying it, but for whatever reason, neither my Pixel 3 nor Samsung fast chargers allow fast charging to the iPhone 12 mini. Odd.

Even so, let's say that each charging block lasts 3-4 years, as my old one did, that means that eventually we're going to have to pay for something that was previously included and is necessary for the independent functioning of the product.

People love free stuff. They’d ask for the free charger even if they didn’t need it.
When I private sale my iPhones I always give all the accessories, I keep nothing as I would not want the new owner to not enjoy their second hand device the moment their get home. The only time I have extra chargers was when I traded into Apple due to a high value trade-in promo their ran. Apple would not even accept the unused EarPods, would not accept the Lightening cable or 5W power adapter, not even to recycle it.

So tell me that Apple cares about the environment when their were not willing to even accept the old power adapter and cable for recycling.

If the environment mattered to them why bother to include a power adapter in 2019 or prior, why glue everything shut, why remove ports and then sell dongles then later reintroduce them (rumoured).

FYI, I am the owner of an M1 MBA and I have no legacy port requirements such as SD Cards, HDMI (use wireless), etc. I am a very minor exception to that computing rule.
There are always trade offs. The use of glues can be a cost effective way to make water resistant electronic devices. Apparently, Apple believes that having a water resistant phone is a feature that consumers want. Removal of mechanical buttons and ports also helps in this area.

OK: Apple cares about the environment. They saw 2 billion apple chargers in the world and decided to stop generating more waste.

Those stats are not entirely accurate, / billion chargers shipped with iPhones; yes. But is Apple’s Lisa Jackson going into each of those previous iPhone users home to see if those chargers are working, recycled, sold, forgotten, lost, thrown in the landfill, repurposed, given away, etc.

If there were 2 billion chargers out there that is assuming that people hold onto their chargers vice give it away when selling their iPhone. What happens when an iPhone is recycled either with or without its accessories?

I suspect that number to be an estimate at best as if Apple were to have provided something better than a 5W power adapter for many years people would not have searched for better adapters from either Apple or third-party. Remember Apple makes money via MFi and if you buy it from them. Does Apple even produce a dual USB-C charger considering the waste to produce two separate chargers and shipping them.

If you are believing the emissions aspect you have fallen for the marketing BS as Apple still ships separate 18W and other power adapters it is willing to sell you at off course an additional cost. Where is the environment factor then?

Yet the last time I tried to give them my Lightening cable and 5W charger their were not interested in recycling it.

Sure not including a power adapter so new customers or those who don’t have one or those who want something that charges faster than 5W will have to purchase another will reduce carbon emissions. Apple is still producing those 18W chargers, still individual packaging them and still shipping them out separately. But hey it’s reducing waste and increasing profits.

Are your purporting what mine and others needs are? That like me saying do we really need luxury sports cars or any luxury cars as it’s causing emissions and environmental damage.

If you want to own and drive your luxury vehicle or sports car so be it, you have every right to contribute to this earth and environment.

Inform me how water resistant an iPad, MacBook Air/Pro, etc is.

Um… nobody said anything about that. I said people like free stuff.

It’s proven above, for those who never seemed to notice it during their time on planet earth yet.

So your one experience at an Apple store trumps their universal decision to cut down on waste. Hmm….

The number of chargers they produce is down over 90% now, I would bet you good money on that.

Those accessories are not free as many presume, you pay for it as it’s included in the price.

Your iPhone is only deemed affordable as the labour forces is paying the difference due to wage inequality, lower living conditions, etc.

I was reporting on my personal experience that though Apple is claiming one thing it does not do so in my personal experience.

Are broken cables and adaptors also included in that 2 billion statistic.

Hey we all have SIM ejector tools, Apple should stop including those as even a pin would do the same job just as well.

You’re going in circles. You are the one that suggested they offer the option to have chargers sent to people for free. I pointed out that wouldn’t reduce waste at all because people would want the free charger... because people like free stuff. I’m not getting into the argument of whether you think the price of an iPhone should include a charger or not. Apple says it’s for environmental reasons, so if you take them at their word, offering a free charger to be mailed to people would do the opposite of their stated goal.

its an accessory , you should never expect those when buying used.
Was it included when one originally purchased the device? I usually list what is and is not included that way there is no surprises. If something is not included such as a power adapter the buyer either will negotiate a lower price or walk away.

Usually these buyers are coming from another platform.

I thought those who had power adapters will not request for a free charger. So the paying customer does not care for the environment but Apple does, where is the choice without a financial penalty. Let the stats of choice speak for itself.

Reducing the waste isn't the issue here. Its Brazilian law, and in the end, it seems they require you to include it. Arguments about waste and recycling are immaterial.
Actually, they are central to the case. This isn’t a law per se, it was a requirement placed on Apple by a Sau Paolo regulatory agency. Apple was given a chance to respond, and they did respond by saying they did it for environmental reasons. Now the agency has decided that is not an acceptable reason, and is fining Apple $2 million. I believe Apple can appeal to the agency now, and then could go to court if they lose that…
