There’s iPhone and iPad which are single pieces of glass, they’re direct-manipulation, multi-touch and tend towards full-screen applications. And that’s that experience. And we want to make those the best in that direction anyone can imagine.

...Says the guy from the company who hasn't brought one single notable improvement in iOS 10 for the iPad Pros. None. Zero. Still using the same iPhone OS with minimal adjustments on a 12.9" iPad.

They only care about the iPhone, that's pretty clear.

That's nice, Mr. Schiller. Now do that with the iMac. I need a main Desktop Hub to go along with my new MBP... I'm waiting... and I have money...

Seconded. My 2010 27" while still great is starting to show its age, especially with compiling Xcode builds, the lack of handoff, HTML5 in Netflix etc and AirPlay is starting to grind especially seeing as I know for a fact that this machine could cope with all of those things if it weren't for a stupid software block.

I'm ready to buy new but sick of waiting.

My only complain is the price...I just cant afford spending 3.000$ for a laptop.

Didn't Apple said they wanted to expand to the corporate sector with a partnership with IBM and so on? Well good luck selling 3.000$ laptops to corporate customers. Macs have became even less affordable for most customers.

500$ more for a notebook is a lot.

You have to spec up the 13 model quite a bit to get it to 3k

WELL DUH!! That is what happens when it is ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE!!! Not even the damn Apple Store carries the damn thing. How are you supposed to get one if there are none to get but through online ordering! That new supply manager should be freakin fired! Iphone 7 release, macbook pro release...all online! WTH???

Microsoft tried that approach with Windows 7 Tablet, and Windows 8 in general. It didn't work out for them and they had to completely revamp the UI for Windows 10.

Just go to a lecture hall at a university / research facility of your choice and you will see how it did not work. Hint: Surface everywhere. Used to be Mac Book (Pro) everywhere.

Because you can nickel and dime customers to death with dongles. That's why its a good decision Mr. Schiller.
Yes they can, and they did.....and people are eating it up (dongles and all).....so its a win for Apple and a win for enough consumers who want the machine. If this was REALLY THAT BIG OF A DEAL, they wouldn't be selling.

While the update to the MBP line was mediocre at best, the rise in sales shows that Apple is successfully moving away from long term MBP customers (the Pro designer/photographer), and towards its preferred customer - the coffee shop social media millennial. It is a shame, as there is plenty of room for both types of laptops in Apple's lineup. But here they've clearly shown that this - at the very least - is an update that not only isn't for pros, but ignores them completely.

And Schiller is smoking crack...wireless transfers suck. The SD card slot was very useful. I'm just glad that there is still the previous generation of MBP still out there for sale. Snatch 'em up!

'Passionate customers'

Sorry but to me that comes across as incredibly arrogant and selfish... Apples usual MO these days it seems.. I hate the Apple board and their attitudes sometimes and wish they weren't interviewed, so you don't see that arrogant attitude in front of you.

Those are your core users Phil. Not the mainstream. You won't hear from them. Your first job is to make these core users happy. These are the ones that kept Apple going through the pre-iphone years. These are the ones who made Apple such a premium brand. These are the pros who make cool stuff for the Mac because Apple stopped doing it. It trickles down to the mainstream.

Everyone is talking about "pro" features like SD cards and whatnot. What kind of professionals are you talking about really? Everyone I know comes with their laptops and plugs them into their dock at work, they would love having a 1 cable solution instead of a weird clunky dock connector. SD cards always was more a niche market within professionals anyhow.

Well he is right about an SD slot being cumbersome! How many times have you tried to insert your headphones into the SD slot or inserted the SD card backwards and couldn't get it out? I remember once time, i was trying to insert my SD card into the slot, and the machine just started shaking so violently! So glad I no longer have to deal with that cumbersome slot. Now I can calmly use an adapter that has a very non-cumbersome SD card slot.

I guess people aren't voting with their wallets.

I guess people _are_ voting with their wallets. They are voting against the MacRumors posters and their negativity.

Just look at the thread about price reductions for SSD drives where any reasonable potential customer would be somewhere between unaffected and very happy, and the negativity on that thread.

Or the thread how Apple dared to add two more USB-C ports to one 13" model, with bandwidth that equals or exceeds anything provided by anyone else except the two other ports.

Or the thread about new cables and connectors, where they fantasise about having to spend $250 on new cables and adapters, while anyone who really needs these gets one nice hub from Amazon for £30. And everyone complaining that you need a new expensive cable to connect your iPhone, where (1) there is no need to connect your iPhone to your Mac at all, (2) you can get a tiny adapter for £2.99 if you really want to plug it in, unless you go with one of the hubs mentioned before.

Or a while ago, when it turns out that the iPhone 7 models with large flash drives run eight times faster than any other phone on the market, and on MacRumors they call the 32GB model "8 times slower" while its flash drive is actually just as fast as any other phone on the market not made by Apple.

Just go to a lecture hall at a university / research facility of your choice and you will see how it did not work. Hint: Surface everywhere. Used to be Mac Book (Pro) everywhere.

Is this true, would be hilarious if it was. Haven't been in a lecture hall in 10years.

Yes, and i don't think its doing as well as they want you to believe, if they even are.

So what is you point?

The point being there are a load of whining bitches out there who like to bemoan Apple for every little thing they do or don't do. At the end of the day Apple still ships a load of kit and makes tonnes of money.

Well the last time they updated the MBP you had to get in your covered wagon and ford the river. Things are simpler now.

Lol...funniest post all day :D

Phil is just avoiding all the criticism and keep going with his "bold" "courageous" talk. It's like a propaganda.

You might say...he is .....shilling....the MBP.........*sunglasses on *cue CSI Miami theme music.....

Buy cables that fit the computer? When I got my 12" MB I went out and got a USB-C to lightning cable to connect to my iPhone. Easy as that and the cost is basically change.

I really am getting frustrated with those of you whose answer to all the dongle problems is simple buy new cables. After buying one of these computer I would have no money for food never mind new expensive cables.

in 2012 people complained a lot more than this...because they removed the optical drive and the ability to add ram and storage...people cried because their 5000$ music collection can't listen to their new macbook pros....and 1 year after...things come along and everybody loved the screen and the light compact design
Lol, I remember that. I got my non-retina MacBook Pro on sale right before the new models were about to be released because I was definitely one of the people not happy about the changes. I made heavy use of the optical drive and I expanded the ram and storage as soon as I got it. It's been a great computer. I'm keeping it on Snow Leopard and older versions of Windows for legacy stuff, as I also do for a 2004 Compaq laptop. I love my legacy laptops. It's my desktop machines that I strived to keep cutting edge.

I don't really get all the 'dongle hate'. It appears the industry is finally moving to one standard connector in the USB C/TB 3 design, surely this is a good thing? Apple don't control USB or ThunderBolt so what were the alternatives? Stick with old-school USB and TB ports and be the luddites, refusing to accept these modern standards? I get that you will have this 'blip' whilst the peripheral makers update their products to have USB C inputs, but you either stay where you are, or you move forward and the industry is moving forward.

The biggest issue I see is knowing which cable is which. What happens if you connect your TB3 drive to your Mac with a USB C cable. Does it work? Do you get a reduced bandwidth? Does a TB3 cable work for USB C in a bind?

A quick look on Amazon suggests that a 0.5M TB3 cable is ~$25 whilst a 6' USB C cable is ~$8. Will you have you less than morally perfect retailers suggesting folks buy the TB3 cables to 'future proof' themselves?

That emoji bar really killed it!
like the pro users live and die without having the emojis. ! this is not an ipad!

I remember in jobs era when the copy and paste was implemented in the ios, why, because apple back then listened to the masses and it was done in a simplistic way possible albeit slow to roll out.

But this is 2016 and our voices fall on deaf ears with this company whose stock seems to be sliding.

Wife and I really need to update. Was really looking forward to these, but looks like the 2015 model is the better option at the moment.
