I'm like 95% sure that CarPlay issue was fixed with iOS 12, not with more RAM.
Nope. I had my iPhone X on iOS 12. No difference. It’s not even 100% perfect on the XS series. It’s just 99% perfect.

Don’t be! The 6/6S/7/8 models had lower resolution displays (1334x750) than the XR, which is 1792x828. So the excellent screen of last year’s iPhone 8 is even more amazing with the XR this year.IT IS NOT EVEN 1080p...im really confused....
I'm looking at the XR as an upgrade from the SE (which is essentially a 6S in 5's clothing).
My only concern is the Lightning port.
I'm onto my second SE in two years... first one's battery failed after exactly one year. Second one is again giving my grief after exactly a year. Both exhibiting the same problem — trouble keeping an electrical/power connection at the Lightning port. I'm constantly finding that I need to wiggle the cable to get a connection.
I haven't read many reports of this issue, and I'm hoping it's limited to the port used on the SE.
I don't want to pay the "tax" of upgrading to another phone only to have the same problem again after a year when my current phone works perfectly except for this one issue.
[doublepost=1540347967][/doublepost]And here I am, happy with my iPhone 6s Plus. If it lasts long enough, I’ll hold out until Bluetooth headphones have sound quality that rivals wired and for the micro-LED displays.
As the XS and XS Max are ridiculously priced, it’s a no-brainer the XR will sell great. Also, it’s genius they staggered the release so die hard fans who couldn’t wait already bought an XS (Max). Apple knows exactly what it’s doing to maximise revenue.
I’m not playing though. Still happy with my 6S.
It’s about as affordable as last year’s 8/8 Plus. It's funny how releasing a $1000 phone immediately makes them perceive this one as "affordable".
Frankly speaking, the fact that they didn’t even upgrade the screen to at least the level of the Plus models (ppi) boggles my mind!IT IS NOT EVEN 1080p...im really confused....

Like 1440 or 4K content, 1080p is downsampled to the 828 vertical lines of resolution that are available in the XR. Check it out on Friday, I think you’ll be impressed at just how great the display is.
I do agree the naming is kinda bad, regardless I feel like because of the XS pricing, Apple is gonna sell loads of these. This may even become the default mainstream iPhone. However I still think the price of the XR should be lower like 600-650I don’t know, but I feel like Apple will sell a lot of these. I have a friend who has an X and she asked me about getting an Xr. She’s not very tech savvy, so I had to tell her that for her it would be a downgrade, but she seemed very fascinated with the red Xr lol
For many average people who are not tech savvy this phone will be perfect.
No, it’s accurate. It’s also true that since the XR has a larger display, users will tend to hold it farther away than they would a smaller phone, making the 326ppi even less of an issue than it might be on a 4.7” phone.Well that isn't really an accurate comparison, because the XR screen is simply physically larger than the 6/7/8 screen; the ppi is exactly the same.
2.) Stainless steel (yay) over aluminum (yuck).
Aluminum = yuck? Apple used aluminum on their phones for like 8 years and every year it was lauded (rightfully) as beautiful and premium.

When did someone decide the XR is the FLAGSHIP device?
(Xs and Max are lesser devices?)
Similar to X users running down the XS as a less than worthy upgrade, trying to justify their decision not to upgrade. First world problem to be sure.I love how the XR is causing the XS purchasers to feel the need to try so hard to justify their purchase. You paid for the "better" phone. We get it. But frankly there's many trade offs that subjectively might make the XR the better phone for someone regardless of retail price.
Can you swipe up to unlock and invoke Control Center/Notification Center without changing ones grip between? If not, then it is not a one-handed phone. I’m not being facetious, this is a genuine requirement for me. Or maybe I just have to learn a new grip idk.The X/XS are the new iPhone mini. They have the footprint of an iPhone 6 that’s a little bit taller. Even people with smaller hands should have no trouble using them with one hand.

Last year the 8 launched first, not all devious. FWIW I would still buy a Max over a XR even if the Max came later. As the XS and XS Max are ridiculously priced, it’s a no-brainer the XR will sell great. Also, it’s genius they staggered the release so die hard fans who couldn’t wait already bought an XS (Max). Apple knows exactly what it’s doing to maximise revenue.

It’s a brand new sensor. 12mp, f1.8 with 1.4micron pixels. Bigger too than previous generation. You forgot to mention besides the screens, the cameras in the two phones are also compleatly different, the dual lens in the XS is perhaps the most advanced ever incorporated into a device this size, and can easily match and beat images from any point and shoot style camera and rivals some DSLR cameras. The XR uses a camera that is 5+ years old.
It will be, next year.I do agree the naming is kinda bad, regardless I feel like because of the XS pricing, Apple is gonna sell loads of these. This may even become the default mainstream iPhone. However I still think the price of the XR should be lower like 600-650
