Really?

Most everyone here has vociferously expressed over the last few months, multiple times, they're going to turn AI off on their phones.
Because it sucks. It's not AI, at all. We were promised some sort of ChatGPT like experience, and instead of that we got a drawing app that doesn't work well, and an AI that can't answer basic questions.

Actually the results of the election of 2024 were the trigger event for us purchasing over $40k of Apple’s latest and greatest for the entire family before 20 January 2025.

The winner was talking up tariffs all the time and we figured it was entirely a possible outcome. Now it is our reality and we have our equipment with pre-tariff pricing.

If AI never works on our equipment it will be no loss to us. We would prefer to believe the illusion that no AI means better personal privacy.

Have you had updates on your laptop or iPhone when powered off? We have so we know the equipment can be “listening” even if turned off. Securely off is inside a Faraday cage in a sound proof room in a building somewhere else than my location.

Tell me more about the above promise; who (the person's name) made the promise, what exactly was promised (with specific details), and the date the promise was made.

this country is embarrassingly litigious. if you bought hardware over promises of yet unreleased software and then throw a fit in response to it not arriving in a "timely" fashion, you deserve to be publicly mocked

I upgraded my 13pro to 16pro based on finally being able to use Siri just like Google Assistant. Siri is not working. Full stop. That and the camera on the 16pro is worse than on the 13pro. 16pro is always, always blurry. I want my money back. It was pointless to upgrade.

There is a two week return period. The camera would be the first thing I test out.

I reallllly wish I had kept my 13 Pro.

Camera is fine in full sunlight. But in anything out of direct sun, you have to stand like a tripod or there's camera shake. The 13pro didn't have this problem. And no Im not shaking the camera. It's just really not suited to being a camera on a mobile phone.

For now, they could rename it "Full Self Driving."
No, unlike Siri that’s actually useful. 95% of the time I’m just sitting in my car and it’s taking me somewhere. I can’t get Siri to do basic functions. Ask Siri what’s 2+2 without a cell connection and she can’t do it.

That’s because people are rebelling. If you tell them they can’t have it, then they want it. That’s human nature unfortunately

I remember back in the early 90's, there was a concept video of a guy verbally interacting with a future Mac using his voice. Sparks the imagination, but it was just fiction and clearly so. Now it's part of the developer conference of the new OS and a TV ad for the phone. When I was a kid I'd see that and think "gee whiz!" but now I have to remember it's BS.

Regardless of the lawyers suing on behalf of a class that will get $5 a person ... this is reputational damage Apple is doing to itself while kneecapping itself in a crucial market.

Let alone with the AI the rest of the world is developing and using... what of CarPlay 2? an affordable Vision Pro?

Has Apple bitten off more than it can chew as far as product development trying to be all things to all people?

Siri has been left in the dust by the competition. It still frequently misinterprets my requests making me have to 'cancel' or wind up swearing at it.

I'll give them credit for Apple Silicon and the hardware designs... but the software hasn't kept up with it.

I updated to a 16 pro from a fairly recent iPhone because the Apple Intelligence stuff sounded really cool. Disappointed for the delay, but it never occurred to me to request compensation. Delays happen.

Apple has been hit with at least two more proposed class action lawsuits over its delayed personalized Siri features for iPhones.

In the U.S., a complaint filed in a California federal court this week alleges that Apple violated false advertising and unfair competition laws by marketing Apple Intelligence upgrades for Siri that are still not available. The two named plaintiffs said they never would have purchased or been willing to pay as much for an iPhone 16 had they known that Apple's marketing surrounding the features was false and misleading.

Apple advertised the Siri features in product presentations, on its website, in a TV commercial starring actor Bella Ramsey, and elsewhere.

Apple was already sued over the delayed Siri features in California last month, and the class action lawsuits could eventually be merged if they proceed.

A similar complaint was filed against Apple last week in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Apple first previewed the personalized Siri features during its WWDC 2024 keynote last June, as part of a wide range of Apple Intelligence features that it said would be rolling out over the course of the following year. That gave Apple until WWDC 2025 this June to roll out the Siri features, but last month the company announced that it needed more time and anticipated rolling out the features at some point "in the coming year" from then.

The features were initially expected to launch in iOS 18.4 last week, but they are now expected to arrive at some point during the iOS 19 cycle. Many well-connected Apple reporters and observers believe the features will not be available until 2026.

Whenever they launch, the Siri upgrades will include understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. For example, during its WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple showed an iPhone user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans based on info from the Mail and Messages apps.

The class action lawsuits in the U.S. and Canada are both seeking damages from Apple, in an amount to be proven at trial, so class members who purchased an iPhone 16 in order to use the personalized Siri features could eventually receive a payout from Apple, if the judges presiding over each case find that the company broke the law.

Apple's lawyers have yet to respond to any of the lawsuits.

Hey idiots, feature was not available at time of purchase. But nobody forced you to buy the phone at all and when the feature rolls out, your phone is guaranteed to work with it.

I like the camera on my 15PM. Strange the camera on the 16 produces subpar results compared to the 15.

While I can't believe anyone would buy a new phone based on either promised or implemented AI features, I still think this was a sleazy thing for Apple to do, or for any company to do for that matter.
I don't think I agree. People often buy a phone expecting to use features highlighted, especially when it's implied you need the newer phone to utilize the full set of features. My old iPhone 13 Pro is not compatible the new AI features.
