Regardless of what you think of Queen Elizabeth II, she was an important historical figure.

As a non-white child of European colonialism, I understand the disdain for it I see here, but c’mon, a human being just passed away. She is gone.

A mother, a grandmother, a regent, a historical figure.

Let’s leave the good or bad legacy discussions for another time.

This is a time of mourning, for those that cared for her.

Her Majesty was blessed to have lived a long life that she dedicated to serving her peoples across the globe as Monarch of her realms and Head of the Commonwealth. It’s an odd feeling to think she is no longer with us, having been such a constant through progress and change, both pleasant and tumultuous. May she rest in peace.

I'm British and find this all a little over the top; I don't care for the monarchy (would love it to end) but at the same time an old lady has died and that is sad.

This particular old lady had an incredibly easy, long and privileged life that almost everybody else in the world could only dream of. That is solace enough.

Omg she’s channeling Poppy here

Hmmm thank you for replying. I really don’t know much about the monarchy.

It may sound like that but really I just read news headlines and not the articles.

Memes and Social Media are *not* legitimate sources of NEWS. Be careful about that! People can post anything to have some fun. Memes often twist context or details that change their interpretation for many as they spread.

RIP, Queen Elizabeth II. You are a true icon that shall live on forever in spirit.

Totally agree with the above. Bet she had no problem seeing her GP 😂😂

When our soldiers went to war with no kit where was our Queen and country? I think that's one of reasons "Help for Heroes" started.

She had a very good innings at 96

RIP Queen Elizabeth II…... over seven decades as monarch. Amazing. She should be judged in the context of the long period of time that she reigned, all of the changes that occurred, and how she evolved with those changes.

Unfortunately, today, context doesn’t matter. The self-righteous are quick to condemn and cancel anyone that does not live up to their standards of perfection. To those I say, live under the looking glass for 70+ years and see how you hold up. How would each and every one of your actions or inactions be judged? Under that level of scrutiny, I am sure that there are times in my life when I have been found lacking. I have fallen short. I did not always do the right thing.

Apparently, there are people on this thread that believe they would have been virtuous and made the righteous choice at every turn and twist of the long road this woman walked as a monarch. But frankly, I doubt it.
