I said that last month....but ipad cannot run macOS if it doesnt have at least 8 gb RAM....so next ipad pro gen Apple will increase again the amount of Ram to 8? after they increase to 6 for the pro line up?

$599 is a good price point for me in regard to the features we get. Will wait for the first reviews and order one.

It would be okay with 128GB for the base model. Come on, 64 GB for a device they market as a laptop replacement.

Back in March, a Geekbench listing for the A14 purportedly leaked online. Benchmarks like this are easy enough to falsify, though the listing placed the A14's multicore score at 4,612 points which, as AppleInsider notes, is even better than the 4,568-point result from the A12X processor in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The cores in the a12x are 15% faster than the a14.

iPad Pro has an A12Z and Air has A14...so it seems the iPad Air is more powerful? Strange.

It just has newer cpu but looking at the numbers it should not be more powerful.

iPhone now gets the A14X

Don’t think so. the Z has 8 graphic cores, the A14 itself has 4 for example
But that it will be a great chip is certain.

Also the promotion is nice and I think once you’re used to that, its tough to go back

Ah yes, didn’t notice the lack of ProMotion. That is a bummer but I guess you have to differentiate it from the Pro somehow.

No doubt the Air is closing the gap, though. It now has the same design, USB C, touchID which some people prefer over faceID, and quad speakers. The A14 will also be pretty quick in and of itself. Apple may have hit the sweet spot here.

I still love my Pro but I’m bowing down to Apple on this new Air. It looks very enticing.

The reports of the death of the 11 inch pro have been greatly exaggerated. And don't expect bench marks faster at all.

Need more info. Does it still come with only 64 gigs base? Only 3 gigs ram still? Obviously it does not have a 120 screen. And it's 100 bucks more than the Air 3. Until I read more details I can think of a few reasons to still get the pro.

Edit- yes still 64 base.

Won't know about RAM until someone does a teardown, but my guess would be 4 GB on the Air, and still 3 GB on the base iPad. Yes the Pro still have a few upgrades, but most people probably won't see those upgrades as worth $300 compared to the Air.

Disagree. Taking away features that are incredibly useful isn’t old school. The pro is the flagship model.

The air and the base have kept the jack. This just feels like a pro. So basically your choice is the iPad with the old screen or one without a huge feature you love. I know it isn’t a big deal to y’all but Bluetooth ain’t good imo

Does that mean that iPhone 12 will also get the new Touch ID power button?

Now that I think about it, Touch ID power button on iPhone is less practical since most iPhones go into Apple cases that cover the button.

Well if the iPhone is going to have a Touch ID power button then they'll design a case that doesn't cover the button...

It’s those two plus quad speakers and LIDAR, as well as another 0.2” of screen.

Plus most likely more ram.
