Pre-ordering on Monday through my university network to get my 6% student discount :p On top of that, sold my mum's old TouchPad for £140 (paid £90 for it from work :p) and given her my old iPad 1 which she prefers in return.

All in, the 32GB 'next iPad' will cost me £329 :D

Will they still be accepting pre-orders on Monday, or do they stop when they reach their initial stock capacity?

will you get student discount on iPad?

With the name being de-numerated like other product lines have been, and with the "so much to come 2012" slide, it does seem possible w/ rumors etc. that they will be introducing another new iPad this year - possible an iPad with the retina and haptic, and an iPad mini with retina and haptic. What say ye?

The only "disappointment" was the price drop on the iPad2, they should have dropped it $200 and that would have really destroyed the competition. They could afford to not really make any margin on them now. Otherwise iPad3 (new iPad I guess) looks great.

the problem with that would have been the saturation between the new Ipad and the ipad2... To me, at least, the features of the new one are worth the additional $100 and i would guess there are a lot of people (myself included) who will justify buying a new 16g wifi model, while still keeping the 32 or 64g ipad2 they bought last year, with the icloud integration making storage less important (especially if you have an apple tv as well)... for $299? I might actually consider buying another Ipad2 instead...

as far as new consumers? the $100 price difference just opened up a big market for price conscious buyers, and the same price for the new one probably takes many of the fence sitters off the fence as well.

Pricing is pretty spot on, IMO.

not a chance, well maybe iPad mini but not another big iPad

If it played flash i would buy it. It will never so im not getting one at the moment

You're joking right? You know that Adobe doesn't even support or update mobile Flash, right? You know they've given up and encouraged developers to support HTML5 on mobile devices, right? I sure hope so.

You sure you get discount on iPads - certainly can't as a student - just pcs

people say this every once and awhile and i just must know what websites do you visit so often that have flash?

Try us.playstation.com/psn or any gaming website. One of the biggest features of the iPad and one of the reasons I purchased one is gaming. I'm a big time gamer and love to visit game site. Most use flash.

We killed the Apple Store.. I can't get in. I was at the "Select Ipad" stage but it went back to "We'll be back soon"

I was right they just called it an iPad!!

Has anyone actually managed to preorder yet?

In the US online store, I've gotten as far as the "select a model" screen, but no further....

Hi Everybody,
I just wanted to chime in regarding the people complaining about apple using the Retina Display name even with a lower pixel density.

Viewing distance isn't just some excuse that Apple made up. This is an established rule in the print industry. I spent several years doing fine art printing and this formula has been around forever. If you have a print that is going to be displayed at 16x20 inches and determine that 300ppi is a good resolution for your file at that size, you can take the exact same image printed at 30x40 inches and drop the resolution to 240 or so ppi with perfectly fine results. This all has to do with normal viewing distance, people will view a 30"x40" print on a wall from a farther distance than they will a 16"x20" print.

The explanation that Apple is using, is the exact same principal and is totally valid. I sometimes think some of Apple's marketing mumbo jumbo goes overboard at times but not in this case.

So, when is iOS 5.1 coming out, and why did we get so little news about it? I was expecting some pretty important stuff, but all we got was Japanese Siri. That hardly seems worth the .1, and Apple should have just called this update 5.0.2.

So the new iPad is called the new iPad... Very imaginative marketing department you have there, Apple.

online or by phone?

was trying both online and through app on iphone, got through using app on phone. email confirmation just came in too. i opted for shipping to house vs. store (MN)

i got to the checkout button on phone, couldn't get appleID sign in to work until it looked like apple pulled the store again, my browser only can get we'll be back soon.... now.

hope the rest of you get in

Hate to burst your bubble but iDevices don't qualify for any form of education discount in the UK.

I'm wondering if the A5X dual core is based on the new A15 architecture or uses the older A9 architecture?? Im thinking to power the retina it has to be A15 based.

Hmmmm....

Well that's their problem, since mobile Flash no longer exists (according to Adobe, who no longer support or develop it). These people need to get with the times.

iMac 18

When I got a new iMac last year I almost bought a PC because I wanted it to be called the iMac 18. WTF Apple? Almost lost a customer for life.

to be honest im kinda disspointed on the name lol.. wth is "the new ipad" why not ipad 3g or ipad 3

BTW, why should I want a tablet?

Tablet frenesi looks like when the first explorers came to America and gave mirrors to indigenous people in exchange for gold. Beautiful toy at the first using but it's not worth for the money spent.
