Does anyone else think that maybe Apple should implement a "virtual waiting room" for their online store on launch day the way sports teams often do when playoff tickets go on sale?

If it played flash i would buy it. It will never so im not getting one at the moment

Flash from the past...

Punt intended. Even adobe dropped flash from mobile devices.

this sucks

almost get in via app but then sorry store is gone again. wtf apple you know you will get slammed, but why prepare for it.

There was just a conversation yesterday about de-numerating the iPad and iPhone. I wonder if this years iPhone will also just be the new iPhone, instead of the iPhone 5.

BTW, why should I want a tablet?

Tablet frenesi looks like when the first explorers came to America and gave mirrors to indigenous people in exchange for gold. Beautiful toy at the first using but it's not worth for the money spent.

"Worth" is in the eyes of the beholder. ;)

The disappointments have only yet begun. A 5-MEG camera in a world of 8-MEG standards? With no flash...perfect. Keep em' coming. Been thru this with them before...

I don't see using the iPad for snapping photos. It's large and awkward compared to, well, any other option. It's a nice to have the option I guess, but a camera for shooting photos won't make or break the iPad. The video conferencing aspect of the camera is much more important.

Thanks. Only issue I see is how to get verification of no damage if you live far away from an apple store... (The page mentioned you have to make an appointment with a genious to verify no damage to register the protection.) Is this the way AppleCare + worked for the iPhone 4s?

Yeah, it's exactly the same policy as the 4S. The reason is because you can buy AppleCare+ after you've damaged your device and when you're getting it repaired at the Genius Bar, but it ends up being about $100 more expensive. So, they need to verify it's not already broken at the bar to sell it to you for the cheaper price.

How is it that i sat on the refresh button of my browser hitting it every 5 seconds and got into the UK store within 5 seconds of it opening and couldn't get a pre-order in? Store down now. For those that did get an order in... any advice on how the hell you did it!!? ;)

Unfortunately the quote didn't quote your signature, which mentions that you'd eat bananas every day if they were crunchy.

OH MAN! You've never had Plaintains, have you? They're a type of banana that you buy green, slice up, and fry. CRUNCHY BANANAS!

Your local latin grocer will have both bags of pre-fried plantains as well as fresh fruit for you to slice and fry up yourself. That's some good eats right there.

The New iPad? Really? What about when newer ones come out and somebody asks which ipad you have. You say "the new iPad". Even though its four generations old. And what about accessories. From here on out, nobody can be sure which generation the accessories are for, since The New IPad is both a specific model, and a description of the most recent release... So incredibly stupid. Sounds horrible, looks horrible, and is horribly impractical. Im gonna go throw a sissy fit in front of my MBP, crying about my first world problems. But seriously Apple.... What were you thinking?

Did you post that in front of you MBP....or perhaps you MBP 5. Apple products have NEVER used numbers to describe them, why start now? iMac, Macbook, Mac Pro, Macbook Air, none have numbers and they exist without much drama...it will be ok, deep breaths...

OK what a joke of an update. After the 4s how could anyone expect more. So this is being marked as retina at 264 ppi. Oh wait that's at 15 inches away. Gotta love Apple and their marketing words. But of course they tailor their marketing to the level of intelligence of their customers. So you can't really fault them.

How much of a D$%* can you be?

This is an amazing machine from the company that created the entire tablet market.

Buy a Galaxy tablet or open up your own company to make a product you like.

Why are you even on this website? Don't like the 4S, don't like the ipad.

Siri is still in beta

I wasn't too surprised that Siri wasn't included in the new iPad because it's still in beta according to Apple. I'm sure it will be ready for wide release in iOS6. The new iPad is certainly capable of running Siri so it'll come in a software update. I'm inclined to believe that it will also be announced for MountainLion @ WWDC.

Ok, so how do you verify your product is in good shape if you live well away from an apple store? (It's a 5 hour drive to the nearest retail store.)

You shouldn't say things that you don't even understand.
Adobe didn't drop Flash support for mobile devices.

He's right. Adobe is no longer developing it. They are, however, providing bug support for devices that already run it. But newer devices won't run it. So a device running mobile Flash just means it's old fashioned.

You don't. Either buy it with the product or purchase 3rd party coverage from a company like Squaretrade. I'm in the same boat as you - several hours away from an Apple Store. I'm just going to purchase it at the same time as my iPad.

The Apple store is still down...for crying out loud....

I know! This is getting a little ridiculous. It's been nearly two hours since the announcement and I'm still getting the "We'll be back soon" sticky on the Apple Store page. I expected some delays but I'm getting antsy!!!
