Apple never used "famous" people in their ads until this year or so. Most ads don't have "famous" people in them. It's a waste to use famous people "just because they can afford it".

Also, probably before you were born (wikipedia) -

"In the 1990s Apple started the "What's on your PowerBook?" campaign, with print ads and television commercials featuring celebrities describing how the PowerBook helps them in their businesses and everyday lives."

I prefer these to the celebrity ads. Much better. I'm tired of the whole Siri angle, there is so much more to Apple and their hardware/software than Siri.

Exactly. I enjoyed the ads simply because Rey are new. They aren't too tacky and are cute and have a good charm. I think some people are just not a fan of change.

I'm all for new spots IF they don't make Apple employees and customers look like absolute idiots.

The "Basically" ad with the fake Mac in it reminds me of the HP Envy, the MacBook Pro duplicate :p

I don't see why people are getting upset about these ads. They're not bad, but I think they should have shown the Mac more instead of the Apple Genius.

new iphone?

does the iphone on the night table (labor day ad) look like an iphone 4s? i think it looks bigger and thinner.

Exactly. The appeal of a Mac is that it's easy to use, it's for the everyday person. If they're so easy, why do they need 24hr genius support? What these ads say to me: Macs aren't easy to figure out, especially when you need them most.

Now that they think about it, they shouldn't show a guy who can't figure out how to use iMovie. And the funny part is that I still haven't figured out how to use that piece of junk new iMovie (2008 and later).

Those are some terrible ads, they're def not the usual Apple ads and not even close to how Apple's ads should be like...

The problem is that they don't show the benefits of Macs. They don't fit with Apple.

These commercials are horrible. They seem like something Microsoft or some other big, tasteless corporation would put out. I guess this is the future for Apple. :(

Hate to break it to you but HP did the whole put a glass sheet in front of the screen thing before apple. It was called the HP infinity display. They also did a silver body with black keys as well. Also the Envy's lid backing is nothing liketge macbook pro either.

What are you talking about? Justin Long, hello?

And it is not a waste to use famous people to promote a product, have you been living under an advertising rock your whole life? Why do you think those crappy Beats headphones sell, it aint anything to do with mediocre quality, its marketing with Dre, Gaga, etc.

It is a waste for Apple, their products would sell anyway. I've never heard someone say "oh I'm buying the iPhone because it's called the iPhone Dre" people buy an iPhone because it's an iPhone. Different companies, market their products in different ways.

I've never seen Justin Long on TV aside from the Apple ads so he can't be THAT famous. He may be famous within America but no one knows about him outside and most of Apple's sales are international.

Never seen these ads and yes I was alive when the PowerBook was announced.
