Hello again!? Just like the original macintosh. Then the iMac. The new mac - Siri will say hello for a conversation!????

It's long overdue for Apple to dump the sad and outdated iMac and Mac Mini and merge them into one killer desktop line but that's not going to happen yet again.
.

The Mac Mini and iMac should not be merged. They are two different machines targeted at two different audiences.

Mac Mini - $499
IMac - $1199

Is it finally time for me to replace my MacBook Pro 15" from 2009? I had to "hack" macOS Sierra onto it... I'm sure that future versions will be more difficult. I will only buy if a satisfactory GPU comes with the MBP. Also, AMD... I'm a bit scared of the MBP dying. Nvidia cards have more staying power...

And...

Very crafty lol.

As others said it needs at least one USB-A port. I have many devices
For business that are USB-A dependent and I am not carrying adapters and hubs on business trips. Also hdmi and sd card slots are still widely used. If anything, Thunderbolt seems like a port that is least ubiquitous in the industry.

I don't mind then starting the USB-C trend, but this is too big of a leap for the moment. Even on the MacBook Air 13 I would leave one USB-C port.

Part of the issue, is that Apple releases new models so infrequently that they don't have the ability to add new standards incrementally.

Hopefully so, who cares about anything else really at the current moment? You've got new iPhones, current iPads, watches, lots of watch bands, and old archaic Macs, what do you think they should be introducing??? A car?

Macs man, lots of new Macs....
And new kick-butt nanos

Looking forward to hopefully replacing my late 2011 MacBook Pro because apparently people using computers that are 5 years old are sad. Now where did I hear that.......

I'm not sure if you've already done this, but from the age of the machine alone, the HDD may be failing. Even if it's fine, the latest iterations of OS X don't run well on spinning drives

So true. I can't believe how many beach balls I get when I work on my mother's Mac Mini 2012 (to update OS or instal something for her). It's unacceptable to me. She, of course, thinks it's amazing because she came from a 10 year old HP from 2003. (She bought her Mac mini 2013)

Seems like the new MBP won't be much different than the MacBook - USB-C only & flat keyboard. Hopefully it will be more powerful.
Uh, well, except for the larger screen, better CPU, option of discreet GPU, 4 USB-C connectors that support Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1, ability to run two external 4K monitors, a whole lot more RAM and larger hard drive and likely some more stuff that has not been anticipated.

But yes, otherwise EXACTLY like the MacBook.

Seriously folks.

Removing the Mag Safe connector would be a stupid decision, imo. It's a great safety feature that keeps your computer safe in case someone trips over the cord. Why would they remove that and make us use USB-C to charge, intoducing the potential to seriously damage your Macbook?? This would be the ladt straw for me for the Macbook line. When I eventually replace my 2012 MBP I'll just buy an iMac.

I feel like they're going to do something radical considering how tightly the supply chain has been kept. I'm impressed there haven't been any leaks. Would prefer to be surprised on the 27th.

There have been leaks, they have all been reported and you are going to see basically exactly what the OP has stated. Apple hasn't surprised us in a long time because they are watched too closely. There wasn't a single surprise in the iPhone launch. We all want to know everything we can before the events and this sort of ruins the surprise like peeking into your Christmas presents before opening them.

Also what exactly do you expect from new laptops? A keyboard, a screen and a trackpad.

Yesterday I was looking at 27th October as a MacBook Pro event with maybe some update on either iMac or Mac Mini.

Using the 1984 and 1998 “hello again” reference now - for someone who remembers those events this sets the bar for that event pretty damn high. Given the past couple of years of Mac history I’m afraid there is no way they can meet the expectations they just created :(

Leaks as far as images of the chassises of these devices are concerned. The MacBook Pro and Air could use some radical new innovations. I'm led to believe there's a lot to come.

I'm throwing down a prediction of a taptic engine for the F-key touch screen and mouse pad click feedback...

How about something along the lines of what MS has done with the Surface Book and will eventually release next week to compete with the iMac?

Have you considered swapping out the HDD with an SSD? Honestly, it will make the world of difference. :)

Thanks!
I've checked the HDD multiple times and the tests always show it as being "fine"

I don't want to waste money on this machine as it is way too old already. I'm dying for a new iMac and hope that next week I'll be able to finally update... Keeping my fingers crossed for a whole week!
