My first Mac was the Mac Plus in spring of 1987. God I loved that little computer!

Apple please give us Fat Mini with discrete graphics and the ability to upgrade RAM and storage!

Right now I fully expect the Air replacement to wield an ARM processor, as means of testing market reaction. How many people will buy a $899 laptop that can't run Windows and non-App Store software?

Yes, they certainly are - but as you notices correctly - no mention of battery life. Because it's most likely very bad. This type of laptop is meant to be a "compact desktop" - something that looks good on a desk and that you can take with you, but it's not meant to be used on the go. That 1080 spends a lot of power, there's no going around it.

This is a good way to set yourself up for disappointment. Arm chips are not coming - even if they were, they would announce the tech a good year or two before it becomes available to give developers time to recompile their apps, and even then, A LOT of apps just wouldn't work. I'm not saying ARM isn't coming ever, but it will be announced well ahead of availability.

Touch screen on a Mac has been discussed on these forums ad nauseam. In short - Apple won't do it.

I also seriously doubt we'll see OLED on Macs for a while. There are numerous articles about this, but the tech isn't ready for computer screens yet. Apple doesn't even use them on phones (that may change next year) let alone computer displays.

Also, don't hold your breath for games, either. Due to their own fault, Apple lost game developers and game players a long time ago. I'm not saying they can't turn things around, but it will be a long process.

What we are going to get are good computers. Faster and lighter MacBooks with better screens and a couple of tricks, like the OLED bar, maybe iMacs with better GPUs (and hey, maybe even color options this time) and maybe a couple of smaller surprises. Maybe a 5K standalone display? Who knows.

You don't think the introduction of Metal is helping to bring back game developers?

Maybe they will bring back Hypercard with modern enhancements... oh wait thats called LiveCode and its free!

Are mice still a thing? :) I went with the first gen Trackpad years ago and never looked back. Best Apple peripheral ever IMO.

I know what you mean, I did the same, got the gen1 when it was released and loved it. I've got the Magic Trackpad 2 now and love it even more. My Magic Trackpad lasted 6 years of daily intensive use until I upgraded to the Magic Trackpad 2 and it still looked like new. It's now serving someone else and probably will do for many years to come. Very few mice have lasted me that long without needing regular maintenance, replacement parts or the bin :D
It's odd when I go to fix someone's computer and they have a mouse, it just feels weird and clunky in my hand now. I don't like it.

I know some like them for image editing and such, but I preferred a pen and tablet and now I use my iPad Pro for that kind of task. Either natively using Procreate and Pixelmator or with Astropad if I'm in front of my Mac. It's an awesome thing with the Apple Pencil, but that's just my preference of course.

The ironic twist: they will talk two hours about nothing but watch bands...

There's nothing about this invite that suggests it'll be a Mac event. Also nothing to suggest that it won't be a watch band event. So yes, I think it's quite possible that they'll do nothing but talk about watch bands for two hours.

I wonder if people will boo if Apple tries pulling this crap. I don't think I've ever heard booing at an Apple event before...

Book - A10x Fusion, 12.9" Retina Screen, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, LTE option, touch ID, macOS Sierra with ability to run iOS apps fullscreen with touchscreen, pencil support, apps submitted to App Store with bitcode will work with some additional work from developers to potentially support touchscreen. Applications outside of the AppStore would have to be recompiled for the A10x. WIMP would remain primary interaction for App Store, so keyboard and trackpad would be necessary. I haven't used a 2 in 1, but I think that I would prefer a dockable keyboard. Sounds a lot like an iPad with Mac apps. Maybe AppBook or MacPad.

I think this would warrant the use of "hello again" from its historical context of paradigm shift and processor shift.

Because half the audience are Apple employees and would be fired if they did, and the other half are media who will be blacklisted if they did.

It could also make a lot of potential customers say "goodbye".
I think that the MacBook Pros and MacBook would still exist, but the Book would allow for the tightly integrated, locked down future Apple desires.

I would love to get a free MacBook, just because my last MacBook that I STILL use is the black MacBook 2006 model. How about a free one for getting a 10 year run out that?

But, will def be looking to purchase a mbp this year if possible.

Just thought I'd re-post these to take a trip down memory lane:

The last time "Hello Again" was used was when they introduced a Macintosh
that was so radically changed from the original Mac, that of course being the iMac,
it was like intoducing the Macintosh as a brand-new device all over again.

Can we, then, expect a new Macintosh that finally breaks away from the easel design ...?

man its about time, my 2009 15" MBP has been a great reliable soldier but its getting a little slow. The bright side of doing all this waiting is that I have $2700 cash sitting in an envelope, I was literally just dropping $20 - $50 in there every once in while waiting for an update. between that and maybe $200 I could get for my current MBP on CL, plus a $200 discount through my job, I should be able to get a nice top of the line machine.

The "hello again" text is a direct reference to Mac introductions of the past so I'm not sure if you're being serious with this post..
