Everyone is talking about the prices this year but not for the next.

What happens next year? If there isn't another release like 7s/7s+ next year and there is just the 5.8" and perhaps a 6.5", where does the pricing go?
Well, if Apple can fit the iPhone 7+ into an iPhone 7 form factor, then there is no reason to have 2 form factors any more. We would have the best of both worlds - screen size and portability.

Maybe with enough scale, we can see the price of next year's iPhone drop by $150-200? What are the odds of this happening?

I'm not sure about Gorilla Glass not getting scratched by keys. I have several nice hairlines scratches on my 6s+ screen, and it's never been in contact with anything except occasionally a stray key in my pocket.

Might not be the keys... but dust!

Dust can blow a long way before settling on your display, just before you lightly wipe over an invisible speck of quartz, something that eroded off a rock from a volcano that died millions of years ago.

So excited. With everything that's been going on with my city of Houston and all the flooding, it feels good to have some sort of techy nerdy good news. Gives me a sense of normalcy

I hate to say this, but is anyone else thinking the same thing I am that the dummy mockup of the iPhone 8 looks worse than what the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus or even the LG V30 looks like?

With the event being the 12th, iPhone pre-orders are usually sometime that week I think, I'm assuming we can expect a public release of iOS 11 the 19th? Or could apple surprise with the iOS 11 release right after the keynote? I'm thinking it'll be right after the keynote this year, which is why all the new betas are being delivered quickly.

I have a feeling that Jobs recorded a bunch of videos before his passing. I bet there willl be a message from Jobs, welcoming everyone to the new headquarters.

Even perhaps, video of his involvement in the design of the new Iphone. It was said before he died that he had left apple with several years of product line plans and designs.......yup.

Just like Hari Seldon from Asimov's classic SciFi trilogy, Foundation.

[Yes, I know that there were other books that made it a quadralogy and then maybe even a tetralogy, but the original and best series was just the three books.]

What the hell does "Rumors suggest Apple will introduce a third-generation Apple Watch with an LTE chip that allows it to be decoupled from the iPhone." mean?

The “perfect world” scenario I think everyone is hoping for is an imbedded sim that basically clones your iPhone sim....
So- when in proximity of your iPhone, it’s doing the heavy lifting apps-wise & mirroring notifications to your watch, like it does now.... but when you lose connectivity, the watch is still able to push you messages/notifications via the embedded sim, and run apps natively, on device.
If that is the case- Apple has the wearables market sewn up!!

Edit: to be clear... the 1st ever LTE wearable NOT requiring a separate number and data plan is the key here.

Always excited about these Apple Events, even though I normally don't expect to buy anything immediately.

Now the tough but necessary rumours ban period until the actual event. See you then :)

Despite this, I feel touchID should expand as a bar that takes over lower part of the 8 (or 7s?). It just feels natural since they ditched the mechanical home button (and probably should have launched in 7 as well).

Maybe a couple shots or a small video about the Apple Park also.

So I'm still wondering how the pricing is going to work out for the iPhone next.

If it is anything over the current iPhone pricing, it will affect pricing for the next year and beyond, until they (if they) decide to bring the price back down.
You've answered your own question; if people put-up with the "8" prices that'll be the cost going forward.

You know it's funny how many posters here relish the fact that Apple has almost all the profits in the smart-phone market compared to Android yet bitch and moan about how they obtain these profits.

If any of these iPhone-mockups has any truth to them - I'll henceforth blindly trust each and every rumor that's posted here or elsewhere. I'll also eat my hat and each pair of socks I own - and on top of that I'll eat a dirty diaper.

Who's with me?!

I guess I'm alone on the dirty diaper thing.. crap - like literally, okay.

The blurry image in the logo looks like the 3D map that the phone 'sees'.

Also I'm falling in love with the notch. I think very few phones are going to have this cutout feature, which means every single phone going forward will end up looking like a glass rectangle with no distinguishing features. The home button provided this function for the last decade, now it needs something else.

Best of both worlds? The market is constantly developing.. I for one, who like big screens don't want a iPhone 7 Plus in the body of a iPhone 7. I want a edge-to-edge display in the body of the iPhone 7 Plus. I want my display to get bigger while keeping the same size as I'm used to with room for a larger battery. Hopefully we will get a new Plus model with a sweet 6-inch+ edge-to-edge display next year!
[doublepost=1504250708][/doublepost]RIP my wallet... 2x iPhone 8's, 2x Apple Watch Series 3 and 1x Apple TV :|

My guess is $999/$1099/$1199 for the iPhone 8 (or whatever it will be called).

Follow by the 7s at $549 and the 7s+ at $669 respectively.

The rationale for pricing the new iPhone so high is primarily due to supply issues, and also because there is nothing stopping you from picking up the cheaper iPhone as an alternative.
So you think the price will decrease next year?

Assuming Apple drops the current iPhone 6/7 design (which would have been recycled for what - 4 years already?) and goes all in with the bezel-less design, yes.

Then there's also the matter of the iphone SE. I see a small price-drop. Not sure if Apple will update the specs though, and I am not sure of it's long-term prospects at Apple either.

I can't wait til' the phone is released so that we don't see the sensor bar standing out like that in all posts and only see a black bar at the top
