For some reason I have a feeling of uneasiness about this new iPhone (pure negative paranoia). OLED screen burn-in, no home button or Touch ID, radical new design... But then again, Apple has never designed a dud iPhone- each new one gets better... so maybe my concerns are silly

I am quite the opposite. I think gesture controls and useful AR (i.e. not just for entertainment) will make some noise.

At the moment, the main dislike for me is the top bezel cutout (doesn't look good). I was worried about no touch-ID, and it is true that might be an issue, but I am not worried about OLED.

17 pages and I still cant see someone finding the hidden msg in the invitation. The oldfags are loosing their abilities.

If any of these iPhone-mockups has any truth to them - I'll henceforth blindly trust each and every rumor that's posted here or elsewhere. I'll also eat my hat and each pair of socks I own - and on top of that I'll eat a dirty diaper.

Who's with me?!

I guess I'm alone on the dirty diaper thing.. crap - like literally, okay.

Let's put it this way..........

1: Apple know and see all these things just as we do.
2: Apple does not wish to let people down, and go into a launch knowing people are expecting a thing, and they know they will not be able to deliver it.
3: If Apple knew they were not able to deliver something at least as good as people were expecting, Apple would deliberately leak out fresh info to kill any particular expectation before the reveal.
4: With the above as true logical common sense, we will always expect the real product to be in-line with rumours leading up to the official launch.
5: Only small points will change, like bands, or colours of things, or how things work/interact.

If you look closely on the logo that's clearly a close-up image of a tooth. iPhone 8 with with macro optics? Or even x-ray or microscope.

Get ready to pay big time for the iPhone 8 or whatever it official name will be! I already save up $1,100 and only need another $500 to make the purchase! I talking total cost inluding sales tax, screen protector and Applecare!

yea defiantly, I think the Edition is going to cost around £1,200 here in the UK it will be more expensive which is why i think the Edition name fits better, it also follows the Apple Watch with their Edition version as well.

Watching these keynotes when you're broke is like getting your penis stepped on by an elephant

Well no. Being broke doesn't have to be a permanent state. Also nothing in the keynote is permanent either. It will all be "obsolete" in a year.

New phone will be fun to have. Semi-tempted by the Apple Watch still, just haven't convinced myself it can replace my mechanicals. If they drop new AirPods without hard plastic I'm in.

Apple today sent out media invites for its annual iPhone-centric event that will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Steve Jobs Theater at the company's new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The media invites offer a first look at the theme of the event and feature the tagline: "Let's meet at our place." (via The Loop)

The Image seems like a finger touching something. I see a nail and skin.

thats double the price of the current 7. I can understand the potential for some premium - if they have a limited supply mainly, but double the price seems crazy. Hopefully this is all people over-estimating and we'll be relatively pleasantly surprised in a week's time.

For me, the actual rumoured contents of the phone don't really justify the added cost. OLED screens are common now, and an extra couple of sensors isn't a big deal (cost wise). What happened to the Apple that used to increase performance/specs and keep the price the same?

I think it's more that they will be offering a "premium" device, if they are going with the "Edition" name it's a more premium device with a price tag to match, the Apple Watch Edition 42mm has a price of £1,299 but it's still a Series 2 Apple Watch. The £1,200 price tag is me adding more than it probably will in a worse case situation, it will probably be more around £1000 for a 128GB model and then another £100 for the 256GB version.
