First they took away the optical drive with the stupid MacBook Air and now they are set to remove the headphone jack. It seems Ive is never embarrassed by his mistakes. Here's a clue, Sir Ive: removing stuff is not innovation. You have the gall to sell a $2,000 computer without a Blu-Ray drive? Why? How does removing something improve my life?

If Lightning earphones are better how is it better to remove the traditional headphone jack? I have invested a lot of money into DVDS and Blu-Rays and 30-pin accessories, no way am I moving over to digital and Lightning anything.

The 30-pin connector was good enough. Blu-Rays are good enough. Innovation means keeping things the same but make better and newer things.

And this article implies that there are going to be a lot of pissed off MacBook Pro people as they will have to wait longer for a new MacBook Pro.

I personally am waiting to buy one and this whole delay thing with not releasing or at least announcing one at this event is not helping Apple at all. I am not in a position where I have to buy one now but I am one that will wait for the newest version. I am not buying the current MacBook Pro when there should be a new one out soon.

I gave up and built a desktop and installed OSX on it using my older MacBook. I couldn't wait any longer and I got nervous about them removing ports and again not having a discrete GPU in the entry level 15" MBP.
I'm not paying $2000 so a bunch of jerks on the internet can tell me I don't "need" dGPU.

Just to save everybody's time, this will the course of events of the forum

"Boring I will keep my [insert previous iPhone version]"
"Apple is not innovating anymore"
"I am switching to Android because I am bored."
"So expensive. I can buy China phone for 1/3rd of the price."
"Stupid Apple. Website is hanging/crashing."
"My pre-order is in. How about you guys?"
"Mine is shipping! Here's the screenshot."
"Out of stock? Stupid Apple. I'm buying Android."
"Does anybody know if I can just walk in to store [insert Apple store location] and buy one?"
"My iPhone has [insert minor blemish], I am returning it. Apple is going downhill."
"I just bought this new iPhone. What a ripoff. I hate Apple."
*repeat when t = September 2017
You forgot the I bought a white one, should I return in for the space grey?

I think you totally forgot that Apple supports wireless headphones for more than 6 years already.

Fixed that for you.

I disagree. The SE & 5c were released to go after a different market, but were not part of the "flagship" iPhone releases.

You are totally missing the point. Please try to think next time.

There are obvious benefits when removing the optical disk drive or replacing the 30-pin dock connector. What is the advantage of removing the 3.5mm jack exactly?

They still count as iPhones. Especially the iPhone SE, which is totally a new phone.

Oh wow, same day as the Sony Playstation event.

Looks like I'll have to buy more popcorn than I thought.

Why can't you do that, and at the same time keep the 3.5mm jack? Also, it seems like Apple won't be shipping wireless headphones with the iPhone 7.

You forgot to mention the following disadvantages of wireless headphones:
- Less user friendly
- Needs to be charged
- Heavier
- Reduced sound quality
- More expensive
- Not a universal standard that can be used with billions of appliances all over the world.

What benefit does removing the 3.5mm jack give us again? I can't think of any. Why is an iPhone without a 3.5mm jack better than one that does have a 3.5mm jack?

I tend to agree. With other technology retirements it was replaced with something which offered more functionality, speed or storage. Here all that is gained is the loss of the headphone wires into the 3.5mm jack. It will save on space not having to add a headphone jack but not sure what else they would gain other than water proofing.

Bluetooth headphones are not superior over wired headphones, they only offer some versatility in certain situations where sound quality is not imperative – i.e. at the gym

There is one bright GREEN dot (on the right) that has motion blur that gives the illusion of motion and that it's on it's way out of the picture.

Green rhymes with sixteen.

So its confirmed, 16GB phones are on their way out to be replaced by 32GB models.

I have a bad feeling this is going to be a fairly major disappointment followed by quite a bit of media talk abut "is this the end of the Apple we knew" and significant falls in stock price etc.

I guess Apple probably can string things along until 2017 even if it will drive many of us out of our minds with frustration, but really I don't think there's going to be any of what the world wants from Apple at this show. The iPhone 7 will for all intents and purposes be an iPhone 6S 2.0 and I imagine the Apple Watch will have little in the way of physical changes and if the rumours are true that it won't be any thinner then that's another major disappointment amongst many people who had bought and sold or are considering buying one.

Major iPhone innovation, a new device and new Macs is basically what is needed and none of those will be delivered. It's not even that they are due, it's that they are now long overdue, and so hosting a high publicity event and still failing to delver any of them is probably going to go down quite badly.

"See You on the 7th"

Capital Y on "You" and the word "see" could also mean C, but is probably a reference to some camera stuff

Not the same thing. There is no technology available that makes the 3.5" irrelevant. Bluetooth is not ready yet.

You aware that Bluetooth 5 is about to be released and the new iPhone is likely to be one of the first devices with it?

We all got something better in return. What's the benefit of Lightning headphones exactly?

Digital audio. More room internally for other components or larger battery. Easier waterproofing. One less point of failure.

Good catch noticing that. Maybe it means "Green" as in environmentalism is moving out of the picture. Not enough profit in the environment, time to screw up the planet to raise the margins.
