Craziest part of this is dropping 1k on an iPhone X gets you what .. 365 days at full performance? It's like you're renting time at full performance from Apple. In year 2, to continue at full performance you need to spend money on a battery upgrade to tell the software to give you full speed again. :apple:
They should put up a clause on their website which states A11 Bionic is only that fast for 1-2 years. After that it will become an A9.

It’s impossible for you to prove Apple is using substandard batteries. Clearly my 6s had a defective battery because it was replaced.

But android is carefully looking at this, guaranteed.

Apple has already admitted some batteries were substandard, that's how you got your battery replaced for free. That's the proof right there.

Except that, before this throttlegate news happened, Apple has already admitted "a very small number" of iPhone 6s models had defective batteries and issued a recall. [1] Also, batteries in earlier iPhone wear out but didn't need this software cheat that throttles the cpu.

[1] https://www.apple.com/support/iphone6s-unexpectedshutdown/

Apparently Apple wasn't broad enough in this recall because many that never qualified have the issue where the phone still shuts off anyway...This throttle was supposed to fix that.

And if this only happened to a small number of 6s there would be no logical reason for throttling not only the 6s but the 6, 7, SE and also in the future the 8 and X. Sounds to me like someone goofed up. None of this adds up.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The reality is if your phone remained as fast as it was on Day 1 you would never upgrade and Apple depends on iPhone for the bulk of its revenue which is why this throttling is only done on iPhone. If you will observe iPads are used for longer than iPhones where throttling should be the priority but iPads and Macs arent affected. This magical power management isn't necessary there.

Of course they do slow down the iPad but the process takes longer

That's different than saying apple is using substandard batteries as a matter of course. That some percentage of batteries maybe defective, shouldn't be a surprise.

Because most probably it’s still running the same os it came with lol
And this is why people call some Apple fans sheep...because of ignorance.

Nexus 6p was a phone by google. It came out in 2015 with Android 6.0. It is currently on Android 8.0...which is Oreo...the latest Android version that came out in October.

Before you even think that I rooted it to upgrade it, nope, I received the update OTA.

You are on an Apple site. What do you expect? Most people here dont like hearing anything bad about Apple despite it sometimes being true.

Ok. And? Throttling will happen in all phones but the time frame is indeterminate. Could be 2 years for one iPhone and 5 years for another.

So we have yellow screen display lotteries and now we have battery lotteries? Some will last 2 yrs and some will last 5yrs?
[doublepost=1514231135][/doublepost]"did you do the test with a new battery in the iPhone?", "Did you wait for the indexing to finish before testing?, "Did you do the test with the battery at 100%?"

Things an Apple apologist say when an Android device is faster in speed tests.

read my comment again mr so cool. i said most probably. it has nothing to do with sheeps. i am a freaking software engineer and i know how does updates work. and i am totally with apple on this one, its all about user experience. but end user wont understand that coz they dont have much of a knowledge. i dont care about your android but every company in this world care about user experience and they tweak the software so that the user can has the best experience. so if your so called wonderful android is running fine then good for you!

And believe it or not, it’s a good thing. Stay with the optimized os that came with your phone. Updates usually are focus on newer phones with features that are exclusive to the newer models and you take a risk of crippling your phone for minor new features.

I don’t see much of a differences between iOS 8 and iOS 11 for the iPhone 6. But on iOS 8, iPhone is silky smooth. I wished I never upgraded. Other than security updates, I wished I never updated any of my devices, including iPads.

My iPad 3s are basically bricks now and I’m starting to feel more sluggish with my two iPad Pro 9.5”. iOS 11 will be my last update for those models.

Alot of users seem more interested in downgrading than upgrading.

You said most probably which is exactly right. I did mention in my initial post it was on Android Oreo. If you did a quick check you would have seen it is the latest Android OS. But instead, you ran to jump on the bandwagon of Androids don't receive updates.

So if you have the opinion that the best user experience is a laggy slow phone then I wouldn't want to use any software you've developed. I like to get things done fast and efficiently.

I am also not saying a battery randomly dying is a good user experience. However, Apple should have never throttled users phones without them knowing. Either tell them to get their batteries replaced or experience throttling.

See mine after 10 months of use:

I want and will crush it in their heads just after the holidays.
600 MHz?
Man, that's absolutely ridiculous.
After a year, your now one year old phone performs like a 10 year old phone.
Total BS.

When will Apple customers Wake Up.

#1. Display lottery issues some yellow some blue etc.
#2. Battery wearing and throttling issues.
#3. FaceID less secure than Touch ID.
#4. Apple collecting meta data on each call and text on all iPhones

My 5s batteries are going on 4 years. One 5s has noticeably better life than the other.

How does one know how long a battery will last? That to me is not a definition of battery lottery.

Good questions. I had a 5s and after 3 years the battery life was poor. Would shut off at 1% or jump from 10% to 3% in one minute. Sometimes I wonder if Apple was throttling that one too as it would be very sluggish the lower the battery got. Or maybe it was just...old.

You realize that there's quite a bit more to CPU than just the clock speed? Just like there's quite a bit more to iPhones than just the CPU?

(None of this is to say that the clock speed doesn't affect things or that throttling isn't affecting some, just that hyperbolic rhetorical statements, like A11 becoming A9 or iPhone 7 becoming iPhone 6, are basically just that.)

FaceID being less secure? LOL. Display lottery issues? LOL. Apple collecting meta data? LOL.

Where are you pulling these out from? Backside?

Did you move on from Apple already?

He didnt even mention clock speed FWIW.

And it was a joke. Dont be too serious about these things.

The throttling applies to the clock speed, and the comment was about throttling, unless there's something else that was being implied there somehow.

Nothing was being implied, the OP joked, you took it seriously.

This thread is a wonder to me; I am utterly astonished at the replies.

Had I realized the degree to which victims would go to protect and defend their own persecutors I would have long ago began construction on my own evil villain volcano base.

What are we looking at here folks? Are we seeing the power of advertising? Some form of Tech Idolatry? A nascent form of self abasing Timmy worship? God forbid it be a random cross section of the American people.

Are folks too blind to see evil and call it by its name?

The response is much more interesting, and frightening, than Apple's antisocial ways.
