Geekbench has said their single core performance is so high that their batteries can’t keep up with the CPU’s voltage requirements. Android doesn’t have this issue as it’s singlr core performance isn’t as high.

Kinda makes those high performance chips pointless after a year or two.

We NEED Ludicrous mode like the Tesla Model S P100D, to up the amps that we can draw for short periods.

So has any member been in today and got it replaced ? and what was the agreement you signed like

Its likely you just signed your rights away to any further claims

Color me surprised.
EDIT: Color me totally wrong, turns out Apple stores here in the US are open, at least the ones in AZ are.
I haven't been this wrong since yesterday!
Yeah I just had a quick look to seems more than half are probably open It seems they could be keen to get the scandle done and dusted then

Yes, if anybody went to get their battery replaced, what was the procedure?

Do they test the battery first? Does it have to fall below a certain level to qualify? Did they give you a hard time? How long do you have to leave the phone with them for?

Some of you are unbelievable in drawing conclusions. In the UK they are always open on those dates. Heck nearly every shop is open on New Year’s Day...Open because they a keen to get the scandal done and dusted? Really, what is wrong with some of you...

I like Samul79's take on it personally. Much more genial.

Good lord. In the US, New Year's Day is one of the biggest post-Christmas shopping days of the year. They run deep discounts on gifts and holiday merchandise in an attempt to lower their inventories on winter goods as they transition to spring.

Oh, but it's a controversy for Apple. Nah, couldn't be that they are open in the thousands of malls that are open in the US for people with gift cards to get new hardware or new iOS devices to buy accessories. Nah, has to be something 'secret' tied to the phony 'scandal' perpetuated by youngsters who abuse their mobile pocket computers.

I can confirm some slight throttling at 98% wear.

Most likely you have to sign a document saying you won't be part of the class action lawsuit.

i dont think its throttled.the benchmark score always depends how hot your device is so if you use it maybe you played games or watch youtube and you run benchmark then your score is low.thats why i would recommend not using the device 1 hour before benchmarking.

... Meanwhile, there's now apparently cases of Note 8's that are not even charging (http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-has-a-battery-issue-in-the-galaxy-note-8-2017-12), so it would seem that perhaps Samsung don't have batteries perfected after all.

Samsung is replacing those note 8 models with defective batteries for free and isn't blaming it on old batteries nor blaming the user for abusing the battery nor charging $29
[doublepost=1514828358][/doublepost]I think the decision makers at Apple have too much "courage". Let's look back at what happened. Samsung had a huge PR problem with the batteries in the Note 7 and issued a recall. Then a few short months later Apple introduces the throttle cheat in iOS.

That must mean they were working on the battery fix for iPhone 6s devices while the note 7 recall was happening. It takes balls to be doing some shady stuff like throttling because of battery problems while your main competition is issuing a recall for battery problems.

To be fair...Samsung’s batteries were bursting into flames.

That's not really how confirmations work with something like that.

Most likely while choosing a red apple or a green one.

That’s NOT throttling. Benchmarks are not a consistent or a simple thing, they are at most “estimates” under complex conditions.

There is no throttling at 98% wear. Please don’t spread false information that will confuse people with legitimate issues.

If you take care of your battery normally, a phone will most likely not throttle in 2 years of use, under normal temperature. I just tested my dad’s iPhone 6S that is 1.5y old - no throttling whatsoever in Geekbench. Same with our year old office 7 Plus used for software testing. Same with my girlfriends 1.8 year old SE. My friends 3 year old 6, though - it throttles under Geekbench load, but his battery is completely ruined (he has a battery replacement message in settings)

The way people talk here, you’d think your phone starts to slow down after a few months. That is just ridiculous.

After testing out 4 iPhones, I just don’t trust people here claiming their phones will be getting slowed down after a year of use. The only way this happens is if you have a faulty battery or seriously mistreat your phone.

So please, if you DO have a throttled phone, report it, but stop spreading panic. If you replace your phone every 2 years, it will be fine. If you keep it for longer, you’ll probably need to replace the battery, and be fine.

Btw, I expect a lot of replies calling me a sheep or whatever - but if you’re a rational person, this post is for you.

Paying attention to the context can do wonders.

The context: Apple has admitted to throttling when ios detects battery issues. Forum member @radon8700 posted some screenshots of his iPhone while plugged into the wall and while not.

The screenshots confirmed what Apple has stated but forum member @aevan is saying that isn't throttling, it is some other unknown issue.

What other context am I unaware of that would show that @radon8700 isn't being throttled?

Are you serious? Who’s denying it?

Read my post again.

Let me quote the sentence, "There is no throttling at 98% wear"

The context is essentially typical statistically insignificant variations when it comes to benchmarks that were posted. Trying to spin it as something else won't change that.

I've seen this message in a screenshot but my phone doesn't display it. I had a diagnostics done (online) by Apple support yesterday and they said my battery is "fine". Coconut Battery, on the other hand, says my battery is at 72%....

My GB scores are half what other 6+ models report and our daughter's iPod touch 6th-gen benchmarks faster ! My CPU's clock speed goes from 1100mhz, to 839mhz, down to 600mhz depending on the battery charge level.
