Learn to read. I said the 6S was designed in 2014. Which is was. Using the processors and technology of the day 3+ years ago, an eternity in mobile years.

As for the rest, so this is what it boils down to now? The tone of the "apology". Give me a break. Enjoy your new iPhone and be grateful an innovative company like Apple exists to provide it to you.

Well, yes.

If I'm reading you correctly, a year ago you eschewed the iPhone 7 and decided to go the less expensive route and purchase an iPhone 6S. So sitting here a year later, even more removed from it's 2014 design date, you are in an iPhone that's 3+ years and 3 generations old. To you it's a "new iPhone" and it "should just work" but from a technical standpoint you purchased a phone that was designed for iOS9.

So it's not so much the fact that you got throttled, it's why you would think that you were going to be getting a wicked fast iPhone to begin with. It was already outdated when you bought it, and certainly way past prime here today here 3 iPhone generations later. And forget the word "okay" for a moment. To you it should be expected. That's what you get when you buy the oldest iPhone on the shelf in an Apple store and choose to run it on the latest iOS a year later.

If none of this affects you because you're some well-off "executive" and throw money at Apple all the time, then why are you dumping so much time into berating and insulting people who can't afford to get screwed by Apple?

This actually affects some people and you're trying to prevent them from having that discussion, insulting them, making the most absurd and flawed 'arguments' (if they can be described as such)... not moving the discussion anywhere useful or adding anything interesting.

I guess what should I expect from someone who feels the need to list all of their possessions on an internet forum, and includes "trophy wife" as one such possession. :p Could be a parody account and we've all been had. gg wp

Oh my... Macrumors doesn’t show Signatures on their mobile website. I only use my iPhone for Webbrowsers since I don’t own a private Pc/Mac anymore.
If I had seen the Signature before I would not have even bothered to argue. Obviously some kind of parody.

In another post he says his net worth is $15m.

I don’t know lots of people with that kind of money, but none of the ones I do would even think of posting about it on a forum.

The Apple store in Dallas told me it would be a week to get my battery then I was told 2 weeks and today I got a voice msg from the Apple store Mgr stating batteries are back ordered to late March or April.

I am sorry that your iPhone has been throttled, but it is a 3+ year old design with a 3+ year old processor and it really doesn't matter how fresh your battery is. It's an old phone with an old processor designed for iOS 9 and it would have been best if you didn't update to iOS 11.

I think it's sad that someone expects so little from Apple products.

I vote for parody or teen. No actual adult would have a signature line like his:

"iPhone X x4| 256GB |$1250 | UDP | iPad Air 2 4G-LTE x2 | 128GB |$829 | AT&T UDP | Apple TV x4 | iPod x4
iPhone 6S x4 | Retina MacBook x2 | 1.2GHz |$1599 | MB Air x3 | Rolex| BMW |Trophy Wife | Beach House"

iPhone 7 was 1 generation later after the iPhone 6s.
iPhone 8(current phone) is 2 generations later. Not “3 iPhone generations later”. Stop inflating numbers to try to make your argument look better.

So the iPhone X doesn’t exist?

Wait…. Is this another conspiracy that Apple needs to apologize for in order to make you happy?

Why not just buy a new iPhone? The 8 and the X are awesome.

Bolt, nobody is expecting their 6S or 7 to run as fast as the 8 or X. Everybody realizes that the components in the new phones are way faster. So if the iPhone 8's processor is twice as fast as the iPhone 6S's for example, then we expect the 8 to run apps twice as fast. And we realize that all phones will slow down as more CPU-intensive OS's are released.

The problem is that there was a flaw in the batteries of the 6S and 7, that showed as early as a year into their releases that resulted in Apple's 'smoothing' of the O/S to prevent shutdowns etc. This 'smoothing' can occur for people at different times depending on usage and perhaps the battery itself. And many people won't even notice it.

But now your 6S, which might be only a year old, which you expect to be half as fast as an 8, gets slowed down to a third of it's original speed and now, it runs at a 1/6th of the speed of the 8. In my books, that's not to be expected. That is a compensation for a poorly spec'd out or designed battery. Yes, Apple admitted it, but it was too late and many unsuspecting people didn't realize the 'smoothing' was taking place and went out to buy a new iPhone. A ****** battery shouldn't last very long, but it also shouldn't slow your phone down.

Good post. However, the battery issue revolves around a defective batch and they were recalled and replaced.

What appears to be happening in this situation is the design of the fabulous iPhone 6 (my favorite iPhone ever), how thin it is and how powerful it was, required a battery that doesn’t have enough strength to effectively power the old circuitry running a more modern version of iOS. We didn’t have these problems in iOS 9 or iOS 10. The variable here is the operating system, not the quality of the battery (at the time it was originally designed). The aging of the batteries is what is exacerbating the operating system problem.

So it boils down to how responsible should Apple be for batteries designed for an older iPhone 2 or 3 years down the road? People complained, Apple came up with a solution, for a modest $29 someone can get a brand new battery without their phone even being tested to see if their existing battery meets the 80% threshold. How is that not enough? At what point is an iPhone and it’s consumables officially “old”?

If you use the warranty as a go by, the answer is two years. After two years Apple has no responsibility towards the hardware or the software. That is made clear in the language of the warranty and the terms and conditions agreed upon when hitting “agree” and upgrading the operating system.

I replaced my iPhone 6S battery today. Just did it myself via the 25 dollar kit from ifixit.

Definitely a PITA, the fact that Apple will do it for 30 (labor) is impressive. I wouldn't replace a battery in an iPhone 6 or later for 30 dollars all profit.

Improvements were obvious and immediate.

iFixit recommends running it down below 10% and charging uninterrupted to 100%. I'm having trouble killing the battery which hasn't been a problem for years.

Point is, do it yourself or wait. I don't think whining on a forum will get much accomplished.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X all run the same A11 Bionic chip and are all from the SAME GENERATION. All introduced at tha same Apple event.
The iPhone X isn’t it’s own magical generation. Basically same guts, different package.
But who am I kidding? You’ll twist this around to fit into your altered state of reality.

The X is an advancement to the 8 in a dozen different ways, all supported by tweaks to iOS.

You folks have to get this processor speed mythology out of your minds. These aren't cars, they don't have engines, speed is measured by how long it takes to launch an app, or to unlock, or to make a phone call, not a bunch of metrics a third-party geek app tells you. Your iPhone on the first day of its life was throttling you in certain situations to optimize performance and battery life. Nothing has changed now except your phones are generations older.

Another satisfied customer. $29 solves your issue. Take advantage of it.

More ********. The throttling was introduced in iOS 10.

Apparently it's been a "feature" since 10.2.1

There are hundreds of users reporting underclocked processors on their iPhone based on high batter wear level.

While Apple might say they've done this to prolong battery life, it's questionable at best. One could say it's a sneaky way to slow down older devices every 2 years in order to push people into upgrading their iPhones.
[doublepost=1512928173][/doublepost]

It's kind of real.

Considering Apple doesn't notify their users that their iPhones have been significantly slowed down due to batter wear level, most people just assume their phones are too old for the new iOS and go for an upgrade.

If Apple was transparent about this feature, I'm sure more people would replace their batteries and continue using their old device at full speed (which they had when they bought the phone).

Do you think this throttling is related to battery going down faster?

Phones throttled to 1/3 of designed speed. That's Apple the cheater's batteries and battery management software.

Seems like all that has been covered quite well by many posts over the past 70 pages just in this thread (and many many pages of quite a few other threads) by this point.

As long as there are denials there need to be reminders to the innocent consumers. Again and again.
Seems like "innocent" consumers have been reminded quite a bit, and certainly the repetition of effectively nothing more than essentially "Apple sucks" in threads like this one where all that has been said with much more detail many times over isn't all that useful.

You may deem them reminded enough. I do not.

Exactly. Innocent consumers need to know that there is nothing wrong with the iPhone and that this whole phony scandal is related to a few defective handsets and/or those who choose to jailbreak.

New iPhone, never jailbroken, no problem.

Innocent consumers need to know there is nothing wrong with their usage of the phones until Apple the cheater decided to throttle their phones. Most Apple consumers do not have the technical skills to jailbreak therefore trapped by Apple the jail builder and cheater.

Somehow it seems that bumping a 70 page thread with a generic putdown that has already been rehashed many times doesn't seem like it would do what you seem to imply that it's supposedly there for.

Again, your opinion. Not mine. But I thank you for your help with the bumping.

I have an iPhone 6s that's battery is hovering around 80-85% battery wear when checked through Coconut battery.

Can anybody tell me how to increase battery wear quickly? I would rather the battery be replaced for free if possible!

TIA

Apple waived the requirement for battery percentage, so if you feel you want a new battery even though it seems you do not need one you only need to walk into an Apple store and ask for it.
