Every year it's the same baloney. Apple is having manufacturing problems that might delay the iPhone. Blah blah blah. I only wonder why Mac rumors continues to post these phony stories.

I prefer the bezels. It means you can hold and move the phone without accidentally doing something. If Apple thought the back was the better place for touchID they would have done it already. And I'm not keen on these new elongated displays Samsung are pushing; a wider display (like the iPhone Plus) is much better for reading.

Well, on the bright side, I'm fairly certain at this point that MacRumors could just put up one blog that says, "Everything is delayed" and take the rest of the year off.

No they would make up different ways to say this multiple times a day, then quote different analysts making up stuff just for page clicks and ad revenue. This site isn't what it used to be.

I'm with you on this. I don't have an issue with bezels, as I think they do serve a purpose especially with inadvertently touching the display or opening an action that you didn't necessarily mean to. I wouldn't mind reduced bezels, but bezel-less isn't something I necessarily need to have.

Phones don't excite me much anymore. Really want to leave Apple but don't feel like spending all the time it'll take right now

There's a lot wrong with putting the Touch ID on the back. For example, unlocking the phone when it's in a case, installed in a cradle in a car, or laying on a desk. A minority of users don't run across any of these use cases, but for most users they are deal breakers.

If a rear FP sensor was such a huge issue, why do phones like the Pixel, Nexus 6P, LG G6, and S8 have them? God forbid you need a cut out for a FP sensor on the back of a case. Oh the agony of lifting your phone off a desk.

So, is the mechanism below the OLED or integrated into the OLED? Isn't the point that the home button is a graphical object on the screen?

Samsung has the contract to make the OLED and they can't figure it out?

The fingerprint reader on the back was one of the best things about the Nexus 6P that I miss when moving to iPhone 7. It allows you to pick up and naturally unlock the phone in one motion without moving your fingers at all that quickly becomes second nature. Pressing the touch ID button on the iPhone is something additional you do when picking up the phone. On newer Pixel devices the back fingerprint sensor also allows you to pull down/up the notifications.

It does on the S8 too

You are asking why companies not renowned for their design sense are doing things the way they do?

So... if Touch ID has a sapphire cover to avoid scratches and produce reliable fingerprint scanning, does the lack of rumours regarding a sapphire display mean Apple is going to use a different scanning technology for Touch ID? Also what happens about screen protectors now?

Not renowned for design? The Galaxy is considered very popular and received critical acclaim for its design.

Finger print sensor on the back is actually a nightmare in terms of usability and can you point me to a reputable source that actually praised the S8 for its position of the sensor?!

Great! Let's have an iPhone 7s then and move on. That would probably the most sold iPhone on the first day worldwide with added more countries on launch day. Timmy would be very happy, let make more dough baby! Suckers!

What I'm confused of is the naming... there's going to be a 7s and 7s+ along with this rumored iPhone 8.

Apple is already selling iPhone SE... and now adding another model to the mix. If they actually make one model with this OLED display... it would seem like a huge mistake.

Because there is going to be so many scalpers... the initial prices of Jet Black 7+ when re-sellers sold that online will be nothing compared to this rumored iPhone 8.

Ya, they really should name the next release 8. Then use iPhone 8, iPhone 8 plus and iPhone 8 Pro for the different versions then drop the s versions.

But you have to pick up the device to unlock it. I don't have to pick up my iPhone or iPad to unlock it.

Really, the Galaxy S8 has a fingerprint reader below the screen? I thought they pulled a classic Samsung with the design and put it next to the camera on the back so that you're bound to leave smudges on the lens.

Normal people will just rotate their wrist (so they can see the back) before using the finger print scanner if it is on the back. Not hard to do.
