maybe there isn't a physical home button but rather a touch button that activates when you touch the bottom of the Ipad 3. Kind of like my samsung galaxy S2. There are no buttons but when you touch toward the bottom it illuminates and you can hit the home button.

Is it just me or is this image the most unApple invitation image ever? I don't think Steve would have approved this. Showing the product?? No way...

i doubt it. From what everyone said, Steve left a road map of what .... 4 years behind him? I'm sure quite a bit of this was already planned out awhile ago.

Apple usually doesn't show the product itself in the invite tease. And we've already seen the new wallpapers in iOS 5.1, so why does the device in this invite show the old droplets wallpaper? I'll tell you why. I have no idea!

Also: Now that Apple has the Retina -- they have turned their attention to audio with the whole hi-fidelity thing and the home button area is not shown ... because it would reveal the new speakers! Oh man, I'm good. Hooboy, maybe I should write for CNBC.

Nice idea but what quality would audio files have to be in to be unable to distinguish quality with the human ear? And again what kind of headphones would we need?

I'd like the concept of Retina display to be ported to the audio end of things but I don't know if that is possible. And what's next, the equivalent of Retina touch? What would that even be like conceptually?

Apple loosing its attention to details?

Why is the thumb nail reflecting light? There is no light coming from the bezel.

"with support for Apps"

= must buy...
I'm really hoping that will be the "one more thing". I've been pining for an AppleTV App Store for ages. It's also something I can afford. ;) We've got an aTV 2 and as there are just a handful of A5 exclusive apps at the moment, I would assume the aTV 2's A4 would be fully supported (sans 1080p content).

well, the only thing left that has no multi touch is the Apple TV remote control.
That's one thing that I hope they DON'T do. Using my iPhone as a remote for my aTV is too touchy - I much prefer having actual buttons for that! Of course, having a keyboard is nice!

Two: The iPad 3 or another iPad model will not have a home button in order to keep it smaller. Maybe a smaller sized iPad ditches the button.
Hmmm. Does anyone remember the "rumor" from a few weeks back where some Chinese insider claimed that the iPad 3 was slightly thicker while the bezel on the front was more narrow? No home button might make sense here... but doesn't make sense if the OD dimensions are the same as is the screen size?

It's going to be so hard to resist this...

I just looked at the calender app on my iPad, and it's definitely not that crisp

The annoying thing is that this update will actually be beneficial to me, I mostly just read books/documents on my iPad...

Some kind of haptic feedback on the screen?

OTOH, if they ever add Retina smell to the iPad, I'm outta here...

If apple removes the home button, I think the camera would potentially have to go behind the glass and in the middle. I always use the home button as a reference to where the camera is on black iDevices.

looks like i m proved wrong again by mr, i thought it was june that they ll bring this upgrade, but yeah if they bring ipad with no home button it ll surely be my next ipad

Would be great (I have an ATV2 as well), but probably very unlikely. If there is an ATV store on the way it's most likely to be ATV3 only. Backwards compatibility isn't great for hardware sales. :(
