There's no way I'm going to read all the previous comments to check if someone said it already. But could "And touch" mean the iPod touch 5th?

iPods are announced in september, whatever we get next week will relate to iPad 3, AppleTV and maybe something else but nothing related to iPod's would be my guess.

I think Apple is pretty set on releasing new iPod's during September-October. Plus you do need to touch the iPad's screen to use it.

Some kind of haptic feedback on the screen?

OTOH, if they ever add Retina smell to the iPad, I'm outta here...

LOL. I can see the new line of iPads. They smell like perfume!

Regarding the other point, the problem with haptic feedback is we can apply greater force using our muscles on the object to increase the feedback. So to make this possible they would have to determine the physic limits of the human hand and its muscles. Good luck on that... I wouldn't even know where to begin to find out what is the maximum amount of pressure a human hand can apply to an object.

Why is the thumb nail reflecting light? There is no light coming from the bezel.

Without looking closely at the image, product photo's often get taken inside a white fabric box with about 4+ lights shining on it. Maybe it's from one of those lights?

They do have this patent.

If it works: awesome.

People whine and cry, but if you think about it--home button or not doesn't matter. It just depends on how works what is provided. Many were concerned with accidental turn on-off, but a circle or double circle would difficult to reproduce by accident.

As for intelligent frame, the whole concern would be misinterpretation of fingers holding. As an initial idea it seems really cool for scrolling or overall controls.... but when you think about it, the screen is for scrolling so it's a bit strange to have active bezel controls unless they can be turned on and off and specified to work for certain programs.

Standing in line day of??

Anyone planning to wait in line for this? I live in NYC so despite the massive crowds, I figure if I'm gonna do it for the experience, might as well be the 5th Ave Store, anybody done this before? Are chairs allowed, I'm thinking about arriving between 4 and 4:30am day of. Thoughts??

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

How does this work when it's in your pocket and going crazy constantly. Battery life gone haha it would be on all the time. Not to mention the gyro would have to be constantly powered and checked which probably can't happen during sleep without a lot of battery expenditure *oops totally forgot to quote the guy lol* anyway I was saying this about gyro/wake

Lol I kind of wish I had done more research BEFORE I recently got a new iMac and iPAd 2!! My Apple TV 2 is less than a year old as well so I won't be upgrading that either. However, I might buy the iPod touch 5th Gen when it comes out. :D This is exciting! Can't wait to see what is revealed next week!

Look at the pixel density on that photo!!!!! Woot Woot!

hey ipad 2 will be around, its still a great device, i wouldn't have regretted

Safe to say if the iPad 3 still has the traditional 30 pin connector the next iPhone will also have it? Not sure if Apple would have two different connectors in their lineup.

I see your scroll bar is broken?

Would you mind if MacRumors put 5 ads at the top of every news post? After all, your scroll bar isn't broken.

The problem is that it adds nothing to the discussion. It has become the equivalent of "first" and just takes up space and eats bandwidth. Believe it or not, some people are bandwidth sensitive either because they have ancient connections or data caps. 15,000 people may say verbally they want to buy it, but it takes less space and is just text.

not sure it ll be labelled as ipad 3, but more like "2s"

Well, the 7th is only the product announcement. It's possible that it will be available in stores the same day, but my guess is that it will be available no sooner than Friday the 9th. There's also no indication that the stores will be closed, so if you stand in line, you might be the only one!

ads pay the bills i guess:)

something to See: Apple TV
...and Touch: new iPad

Oh my God, does that picture mean we will only get Maps, Calendar, and Keynote?

I don't think so.

dude GD on ipad totally makes sense vs the tablet thing+keyboard+monitor trust me if u hav used one it is a pain to use, and ipad resolution will def allow even greater drawing apps which are of pro grade, what say?

And to think no one will want to buy this thing because it could be thicker, it could be heavier, it could be more expensive. Surprised that the pundits aren't popping in touting their non-Apple tablets.

Me, I will be looking at buying one. :D Need to decide if I am going to keep my iPad 1 or sell it. If I give it to the wife and kids then the iPad 3 will be free and clear for me to use.

heh, the 'pundits' are still licking their wounds from their 'predictions' last year. Remember how [insert Android tablet here] or Blackberry's PlayBook were going to eat the iPad for dinner? :D

I'm guessing that it will be available either between the 14th-16th in stores. And I am assuming they'll will play the same 5pm game as last year. But who knows, maybe because of the supply demand last year they won't do the same. But I'm guessing they will.

The life of a geek. You can keep waiting and saving and planning forever. Eventually you've got to man up and buy something, or you'll be stuck in that cycle forever. Live a little :D
