Just compared the photo with my iPad2 to to find out if it was in landscape or not, and if you compare the water drops you can see that is in "portrait" so looks like the will be no home button. if you don't trust me go check it on your iPad:D you can see it by the water drops between the last two icons ( left to right)

The life of a geek. You can keep waiting and saving and planning forever. Eventually you've got to man up and buy something, or you'll be stuck in that cycle forever. Live a little :D

very true and more so i m always interested in seeing updates to imac line up, every investment is worth and people who bought imac never regret what they paid for, apple means value

bec high res upgrade is the need of the hour and i dont think it is a total redesign, compare this upgrade with 4s.

By your theory they will never have a complete upgrade, because there really isn't a whole lot that they can do design wise besides small asthetics and possible different sizes.

I'm another reliever of the "no home button " theory as gizmodo pointed out the spacing between apps cannot be achieved in landscape mode, they are much too close together.

Goodbye home button

Yup. Still using my trusty late 2008 iMac 24 runs like a champ and I don't regret spending a lot of money on it. It's paid for itself. Always get a good laugh when some one says "You know, a computer at Wally is only $300..." Ha Ha Ha :D

bec at current ipad 2 design is still competitive and there exist no reasons to change it given the market.

radical design changes will come after this year

The Home Button Speculation!

Okay, it would be an understatement to say that the discussion about whether or not the device has a home button has featured heavily in this topic. I've taken a few pictures of my iPad 1 in the same way it's taken on the invite. I've used the bubble position on the background to line up exactly the place on the device where the original picture was taken.

From what I've found, providing the background is the default apple one, there have to be five icons on the dock and the iPad has to be in Portrait Mode for the bubbles on the background to fit according to the invite.

So I've aligned everything up, making sure it's as close to the original as I can get it (although I substituted the Keynote app for the Pages one), and the home button is visible in the corner.

So we know it's in Portrait Mode, we know that, given the position, the home button should be in the image, but somehow it's not. Take a look at my pictures and the original and you'll be able to see what I mean. Pay particular attention to the background, and the resolution too:

So if this is true we can only guess the iPhone 5 will have no home button either, bigger screen?

I wasnt even going to buy the new one this year, but I saw this article and got weak. Just listed my iPad 2on ebay. That screen is beautiful and the thaought of having a quad core device(hopefully true but not holding breath) sounds better than sex.

def they ll be boasting new os too, bec subtraction of button will def bring in new innovations in the UI

dude GD on ipad totally makes sense vs the tablet thing+keyboard+monitor trust me if u hav used one it is a pain to use, and ipad resolution will def allow even greater drawing apps which are of pro grade, what say?

Unless Apple makes an iPad capable of competing with this, Graphic Designers are not going to be throwing away their Wacoms and replacing them with iPads. As great as the iPad is, there are a few aspects where the wacom is still vastly superior, the ability to work with a pen and pen pressure being the most glaring.

If Apple wants to make a professional iPad that addresses this, then I'd be more than happy to see them do so, but until then the iPad is still almost completely aimed at consumers. Pros likely use them, but they use them in addition to a wacom tablet.

and the applications that it could run, quality baby quality

Why is the thumb nail reflecting light? There is no light coming from the bezel.

You guessed 'er Chester! Glow with no apparent light source. Tiny hand. Copy/Paste/Reversed reflection of hand. No Home button. Odd orientation/desktop background.

That image is clearly altered.

Without looking closely at the image, product photo's often get taken inside a white fabric box with about 4+ lights shining on it. Maybe it's from one of those lights?

But the bottom edges of the iPad aren't enjoying any of the same glow.
