Must feel amazing to have a company with a product so amazing that people are literally begging you to sell it to them, and have absolutely no problems shelling out $700+ for it without second thoughts.

they worked hard for it, its a lot of work in each n everything that apple does, from a simple leaflet design to imac they work on details and that is why they hav a cult following

The bezel looks extremely wide when compared to an iPad/iPad 2 bezel. I guess we're looking at a different device (maybe a TV?) and they're fooling us into believing it's an iPad.

I was just about to write this. Tuesday's event will no doubt involve the iPad 3 announcement. That doesn't mean, however, that the image we are looking at must be the iPad 3. We have been "touching" the iPad for the past two years. What is exciting about "touching" the iPad 3, as the invitation tag suggests? Touching a television, however...

Fun stuff to think about.

the high end tablets costs more than ipad and u need laptop or desktop to use them, get use to the interface and other inconveniences, clearly tablet computing in this regards is the future, it is just now we can expect evolution & maturity of these kinds of devices

the lower end wacoms are not for pros

Professional graphic designers have likely been using a wacom for years and are comfortable with them. Tablets and iPads are the way of the future, but it hasn't caught up to where it's a viable replacement for professionals in professional settings.

the drawing apps will be awesome, people using wacom will throw away their tablets n start using ipad for GD

If you mean Graphic Designers will be using them on the go or at home to produce early drafts of their ideas, then yes I could see that. But when they are going to work on refining their idea and putting it in a format for final distribution, there is no way in hell they will fully depend on an iPad for doing so. Any design firm that replaces wacom tablets with iPads is going to upset their graphic designers as well as look amateurish in doing so.

In 3-5 years, I think the iPad could catch up and pose a threat to wacom's professional business. But right now, it's not happening.

To me it's not really $700. Apple products hold their value pretty well so I can always sell it back when a new product I like comes out

exactly, even ipad 1 is worth something today and holds value

That is irrelevant because even if you activate the home button you can't do anything else with gloves on.

It's true that you can't do much afterwards. But it allows you to see your recent notifications. Like if you just missed a call from someone or got a text message. Then you can decide how important it is and if you should take off the gloves.

with the addition of the 'and touch' on the invite I'm guessing there'll be some interesting touch related goodies! Potentially no home button!!

And the power button doesn't accomplish that task?

Could HAVE, Could HAVE confirmed.

Yes.. even I had to up-vote this myself. For you though:

Yes, nothing more innovative than having to get up and use a giant touch-screen that is fixed in the vertical position.

pressure sensitivity, pro quality apps, def the resolution which we ll likely to see updated, wacom also sells pens for ipad, trust me writing is on the wall, and once proven people will never go back to the primitive model of sketching stuff on computer, desktop is there and will always be but ipad is evolving and maturing

This looks awesome, I personally don't think they're removing the home button though - it'd make the thing harder to use it'd just be copying the BlackBerry Playbook, HP webOS devices, and Android Honeycomb and ICS anyway.

I really want to see the Apple TV 3 as well. I've been holding out on one until this new one comes out. Looks like 9to5mac may have confirmed my wish. Fingers crossed.

Where's the home button?

Image

It's NOT in landscape mode.
I've just attempted to recreate this shot using my iPad 2 and the bubble cluster (or rain drops, whatever you like..) just above the finger is only visible in portrait mode.
Also, the 3 icons are on the far right edge of the dock (again, identified by the bubble cluster), so this doesn't suggest at all that there's no home button because the shot can be taken without including the home button.

The photo is a mockup, I believe, becuase I just couldn't get the angles right to show the same proportion of icons, bubbles, finger or bezel.

Gizmodo seems to think there is no home button (unless the device is possibly upside down to mess with people). The logic makes sense, but I'm not gonna believe anyone until the announcement on 7 March. http://gizmodo.com/5888989/this-is-the-ipad-3-hiding-in-plain-sight

That is interesting. I didn't notice that when I first saw the invite. A dark grey aluminum back? I'd really like that.

Why do you assume that is the only way to interact with the television?

back then touch screens were joke, apple brought multi touch

at current hand gestures introduced by Ms kinect seems like a joke

what would u say apple will bring?

It's not as natural. In fact my home button only works half the time and I'm left using the power button to do exactly that. It irritates me a lot.

Typing on a touch screen isn't as natural either. Perhaps they should re-implement the QWERTY keyboards...

You do realize it's easier to "touch" a remote than it is to stand up,walk over to the TV and "touch" it right ?

I'm looking forward to when I can use an iPad as a Wacom replacement and use it to interact with the computer (as accurately as Wcom tablets can now).

"Not only that, but there seems to be NO home button, which explains the mention of the "And touch." in their invitation. How can we know? First, the photo they are showing is on portrait mode. You can't achieve that icon spacing in the landscape mode (which is the only explanation for the lack of home button)."

yup pretty self explanatory
