Apple Issues Invitations for October 4th iPhone Media Event

Yes, I know this is the 'information age' and all that yap, but it's kinda funny that we all now seem to think it's our right to see new products before the manufacturers want to release them?!
Rather than the lack of images meaning there is no new iPhone, maybe Apple just thought they'd quite like to reveal their new phone themselves and took measures to make sure there were no leaks this time?!
Put it this way - Apple are now worth considerably more than say, Lockheed Martin, and you wouldn't expect to find images of some unreleased military hardware popping up all across the internet!
Maybe Apple just threw a bit of good old fashioned cash-enhanced weight around and made it very clear that leaks would not be tolerated at any point across their production process?
The Clock icon -- "The hands of the clock are pointing at both the number 10 and the number 12. Actually, the second hand is also pointing at the number 12. Add those numbers up -- 12 + 12 + 10 -- and you get the number 34. This is very telling ... Steve Jobs' birth mother Joanne Simpson was remarried to George Simpson when she was 34 years old, which proves that the government is covering up everything that happened at Area 51 in 1966. But I digress. There's a progression there. 3 ... 4 ... 5! Yes! The iPhone 5 will be announced!"
The Phone icon -- "Ah, yes, the number 1. It can mean many things. One is the loneliest number, and its location on the upper right-hand corner of the icon has special meaning. That points to the northeast, and in the olden days of America, that's where witches were burned -- in the northeast part of the country. It is obvious to anyone that there is magic and witchcraft involved in the design of the new phones. The green pinstripes on the background portend an event where all of the Apple executives will be wearing suits. The white phone icon even has deep meaning. Note that it looks exactly like a silhouette of a fetus, which points to the birth of a new era of technology, cheap beer, and world peace."

Ok, there's only 4 icons, so we'll stick with the Iphone4, but the 1 means "+", so an iPhone4s...? Or maybe 4+1... so iPhone5... lol
Ok seriously, when you have a "1" beside your phone icon in your phone it means that you missed a call, right? And everyone wanted details on a new iPhone on the June keynote but everyone knows what happened in June. Maybe that's the miss call...

Saw this on an Engadget comment... it makes sense:

It's so simple...
The images plainly reveal what Apple is going to do.
The calander image lists "Tuesday", which, as we all know is borrowed from the Latin des Martis, which associates the day with the planet Mars--the fourth planet in our solar system. Couple this with the number four in the image and you get two 4s (or 4S). It's plain to see that Apple will be announcing an iPhone 4S, rather than an iPhone 5.
The second icon shows a clock, which replaced the sun dial centuries ago. This represents the iPhone 4S being powered by the sun via solar panels.
The map shows two intersecting yellow lines which, if zoomed out, would form a cross. If you remember, the original iPhone was dubbed the "Jesus Phone" by many fans. The symbol here shows that the new iPhone will actually fulfill this fanboy wish, in that it will allow the user to speak directly to God.
And finally, the phone image shows a white phone, along with the number 1, which represents the fact that the new iPhone will only come in white for the first few months, likely due to a painting-process error on the black versions, similar to what delayed the white iPhone 4.
It's all so simple. It's right there for everyone to look at; you just need to open your eyes.

And you will still end up buying it , like the bulk of us are going to do... Its being a Technophile and having the newest of the new....
i hope they've improved their map app, although i recently purchased the garmin app, so...yeah, but the fact that the map is on there probably just means that the event is at apple, seeing as how the clock and calendar apps also represent those kinds of details, and that is infinite loop in the icon.
i'm just really excited to get the new iOS, and i really hope all the new voice recognition crap is supported on the current iPhone 4 because i'm not upgrading.

All the (1) means is that the reader of the invitation has a 'notification', in other words, On the DATE at the TIME at the PLACE there is a THING (whether it's an event or a product or a message; it doesn't matter).
Everyone who thinks it's supposed to mean 'just 1 phone' (even if there will be just 1 phone) is projecting like mad.
