the announcment is orgasmic, and i'm not even an Apple fanboi... lol

SO happy, i was starting to wonder if a new Phone would be launched AT ALL.

That’s what I was saying, no cryptic messages there. The map indicates the location of the conference by the way, not just Apple’s campus.

The fourth icon is still vague, with the 1 as a symbol. It doesn’t mean "iPhone", because there’s a 1 in the badge. It could mean "one new iPhone presented", or "one universal iPhone for all carriers", or something else.

And yes, there’s definitely a message behind this. There’s a message for the three icons before, why would they put a random picture as the fourth one.

Yes, what about it ? It takes nowhere as much battery as Android and it works perfectly.
 
I'm guessing that the phone icon means a new iPhone plus "one more thing", possibly the Facebook iPad app. Who agrees?

I was focusing more on people going "MAP ICON? TURN BY TURN NAVIGATION CONFIRMED"

You're right though; the 4th icon doesn't fit in. We'll know on Tuesday.

Your view of ios multitasking working perfectly is subjective. Sure, it's easier on the battery but in no way is iOS multitasking comparable to android's. Not yet at least

They were sent an invite.. In fact of all the numerous blogs I read today hoping for an official invite, Giz was the first to post.. Maybe Cook is giving them One More Chance XD (ok I know that wasn't supposed to be a joke but I just realized how well it fit..)

They said they will be covering the event but never said they were officially invited. Last year they just bit off of everyone else's info that was actually there.

Do yall seriously think apple would put '1' to suggest that they are no. 1 or that there is one new iPhone? A universal phone? What, 1 to rule them all? That would be so freaking lame and un-apple.

'1' simply means new notification - new push notifications coming in ios5.
 
It's a frickin invite

The "1" just means 'admit one'.

If anyone else has already said this then great,...the rest are dummies!
 
Apple has blacked out vacations, and we've seen leaked memos telling employees to expect a lot of work. that means it's a new major phone that's coming. if it only is a cheap iphone4-like iphone, they wouldn't expect that much of revenue and work.
Besides, Apple needs something big to boost the start of new CEO Mr. Cook!

The one clearly means ONE new Phone. The iPhone 4S doesn't count as a "new" phone since its just an update to the iPhone 4, the ONE new Phone refers to the iPhone 5. Case Closed :cool:
 
The '1' on the phone icon means you have one missed call.

the one just means there is a message. the message might be that a new iphone 5 is getting announced...but i doubt it has anything to do with how many phones they are going to be talking about.
 
I'm sure this may have been in the hundreds of comments already but my analysis:

Tuesday 4 (Oct 4th)
Clock (10 AM)
Map (Where it is: Apple Headquarters location)

Phone icon with 1 missed call....

They tried to call to invite you but you missed the call you idiot, now your email has a 1 on the icon till you check your missed calls!

Or... there will be 1 new phone. I mean, if it had had a "2" there it would be glaringly obvious, wouldn't it? I cant see another reason to have any notification number there at all other than to rib those of us who care way, way, WAY too much about their next phone.

Love that "Let's talk" references the Assistant.
 
Was it lost in the mail?

Samsung doesn't seem to have received an invitation.
