I still prefer cambookpro's design.

My bank account is ready. :D

Yikes, whoever made that needs a typography lesson. Talk about poorly set kerning and tracking!

Apple: Cases to customize color have been around for a long time. Not everyone likes girly pastel colors. Why did you make the front an ugly black if you're going to put such light tones on the back?

Nothing to see here IMO.

You're in the minority.

Does that mean I'm not entitled to my own opinion?

Samsung Galaxy S4 is just a few new colours and higher specs.
Other Android phones are just cheap crap and not even visually appealing.

What is there to be excited about??

I hate Samsung and Google with a passion, so that post means nothing to me.

Did it ever occur to you that I could be an Apple fan who isn't impressed with Apple's current products? I guess it's easier to just accuse me of being a Samsung/Google fanboy.

I love all the people who have joined in the last year or so coming off like long-time disgruntled MR readers.

Welcome to Sockpuppet Theater, folks.

So you have to be long time MacRumors user to have an opinion on Apple products? Okay, I'll keep that in mind.

I take your point but let's see what happens next week shall we. It might just turn out to be more exciting than we think.

Hurray! A polite and rational response.

Yeah, Apple is sooooo boring.

Meanwhile, in the always exciting world of Android...

Google and Nestle announce Android Kit Kat

LOL! That's absolutely asinine.

Like I said to the other guy, I hate Samsung and Google.

The best thing for you is to know that you have lots of options when it comes to a cell phone.

The only smartphone I've ever liked is the iPhone, I have no interest in switching to another brand. That's why it bothers me when I see Apple ruining the iPhone (at least in my opinion). And that's why I come on forums, to voice my opinion about it...

Not to be that guy, especially since I'm usually not that guy and frequently hate that guy, but is anyone else not all that excited about the 5S? I've owned every single iPhone model and this is the first year that I've been meh about all the news. A fingerprint scanner isn't going to do it for me. The current iPhone 5 is a solid phone. Perhaps 128GB for $399, 12MP camera, and NFC chip for a digital wallet would. But if it's the same old camera that the 4S had, same high price for 64GB, dual-led flash, A7 chip and a fingerprint scanner—no thanks. Though a potential graphite colored model is very tempting because it reminds me of the original iPhone which I loved and still own.

Last year I traded my AT&T 64GB 4S on Amazon for $500 and this year the Verizon 64GB 5 is going for around $440. What's the deal with that?

There is nothing to look forward for this event. There have been so many leaks. We have seen the colors, the package, the specs. The only thing we don't know is the price and maybe the release date.
Tim Cook has really doubled down on security..

We know the release date... 20 Sept. :D

That option exists. It's called the iphone 4. As for color, you can buy a case.

The iPhone 4 is three years old and very expensive to manufacture. The 5c is new (people like new) and cheaper to manufacture. Seriously, it's not that difficult to understand, is it?

It must be SO COOL to be a MR member since 2003. I'm really jealous.

bubbly

Celebratory invite with all those iPhone 5c/iOS7 colorful bubbles.

I'm not upgrading, just waiting for the iPhones to be announced so Apple can get on with updating their Mac lines.

Hope everyone enjoys their new iPhone.

So what do you exactly want?

A bigger screen...oooo that is game changing.

We're getting the NFC and Fingerprint scanner. That is pretty big and something the other phones out there don't have/or that work properly.

There is only so much you can do with the mobile phone now..without it morphing into a new product...like the iWatch.

In terms of the iPod, you are looking at it's life from 2001 to about 2009 when people started moving away from it to the iPhone. Sure they are still making it, but most now have just an iPhone and no iPod at all.

You'll probably see the same thing with the phone as we move away from it and to some new form of communication device.

I'm just saying, complaining about nothing new is like complaining about cars. They do the same thing every year with pretty much the same features and a new design every 5-6 years.

You say people think speculation (if from someone with a good track record) is confirmed fact.

No, I think people are more interested in what's likely to happen more than they are concerned with whether or not things are provable "facts". The people who were thinking there would be an event on September 10th were acting in a far more logical and reasonable way than the people who sit around saying "We don't know anything until Apple personally emails us all about it!!"

The New i

10:52 Tim pauses and then says "and one more thing"

Crowd gasps as he is speaking the Lord's words.

Phil comes back onto stage with a bulge in his pants.

Tim says "Well, Phil, seems that you're very excited about the latest iPhone release"

Phil reaches in his pants and pulls out what looks like an ordinary pocket flashlight. Then he turns it on.

Seven colored LEDs converge into a single bright white spot light.

Tim says: "The new iFlashlight."

Phil says: "Who says we can't innovate?"

Hailed as the most amazing product ever thought up by Apple.

Apple stock hits an all time high.

I think people need to really step back and ask themselves why they need to be so excited over a tech device. I've never been like 'OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THAT' about any Apple product and I'm a huge Apple fan.

I'm getting the 5s because it's the first time TMobile will offer the latest iPhone. When they got the 5, it was too far into the life cycle. So I'm actually glad about the 5s.

There is ONLY so much you can do with the iPhone now...most developments and big changes have been implemented. Only thing they can really do is make it thinner and smaller or bigger screen. And many will complain about either.

Like I said in a post above, the next big thing is going to be the iPhone morphing into another device like the Watch. Just like the iPod morphed into the iPhone and the iPod/iPhone into the iPad, etc.

Unless most leaks were intentional to keep the hype going?

Aikido: The martial art of blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on.

Why fight the rumor mill when you can use it to your advantage.

Keep the hunger of the 'attacker' up by letting some non-competitive details out (colors? come on... is that something that Samsung cares about). But it keeps consumers who are thinking of buying a 'cheap' phone on the hook. And the clicks drive the rumor sites to continue reporting.... and the cycle continues. If they are 'on the fence' vs a Samsung 3/4 and an iPhone 5c... this sort of press keeps them waiting until it ships... and that's all Apple wants. Come into the store... try our phone out... and 40-50% of US buyers will pick one of 3 Apple products. That's good odds, and if you keep a million users on the fence (quick math: Every month, roughly 2 Million phones come off contract in the US about half are feature phones [1M], and half are smart phones... and 20% of rolling off Android users[100K] will strongly consider an iPhone, let along BlackBerries, Nokias, WinMo]... You got to keep them engage for a month or so...

(Zen Math. If a billion people in China think Champagne Gold is a great color... and will pay a premium for it.... you don't ignore it, and you definitely want to keep them from buying a competitor, at least for the month up to release date).

Any press is good press.

Now, has anyone seen the motherboard? The Battery? the glass? the 'sapphire home button?' Nope. nuff said. Apple's secrecy is working very well.
